Just wanted to leave this here. Six years after this video is uploaded, you helped a really clueless dude in Hong Kong today on putting the filter box back together. Really appreciate the commentary on how it is fitted, took me so long and can’t figure it out until I watch this video
Thanks for this video. I looked at my engine and assumed where the air filter was probably located and surmised that "This looks gorilla-proof." Your instructions for the filter itself and the removal/replacement of the engine cover pretty much support that theory as everything needs to be "micro-aligned." For the life of me, I can't understand why MB would make this so annoying of a design when all my other cars (Lexus, BMW, Ferrari) are so easy. I guess they want customers to pay their dealer service departments $125 for replacement. Have just ordered a new filter and will accept the challenge soon!
Thanks for the video I thought the notches were meant to go into the holes luckily I managed. There was a a lot of dust and leaves I had to blow out out haha
How often should one change the W204 C250 Engine Air Filter? My wife's 2012 C250 only have 40K miles right now, should we change the Engine Air Filter? Thanks!
Wen Under normal dust conditions, replace the air filter at every 40,000 miles or 4 years. In vehicles with engine 275 replace the air filter at every 60,000 miles or 6 years.
Wen Sorry I should have omitted that. The M275 engine is the twin turbo V12 engine which does not apply to you.

I did exact same thing you did but only difference was I removed the whole filter box from the hose. Weird cause now I can't get the filter box to go back into the hose. Do you have any idea why that is? Car is just sitting in the garage.
It is not the same process for the C300 unfortunately. Your air filter is located on the passenger side (USA configuration) of the engine. It maybe held on by a few clips if you just look around the box. Take the top plastic cover off the engine and have a look around that arena. You would have to check the owners manual for mileage intervals for replacement. I’m pretty sure every 60k they should be checked at least on those Mercedes.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair thanks for the info. I think I wont touch it probably go to a mechanic when needed. Got the filters replaced last year. But again I dont drive much only drove 10,000 miles since I got it last changed.
I cant get the stupid box back in, the screws dont line up, ive been just sitting it ontop of the notches but then my screws are higher then the other side and dont line up wtf
Idk, maybe I should have worn pink gloves? You watched another video already? And it was so bad you just had to come and watch another one? No one else is having a problem but you it seems.
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair Obviously noone else watches what you do so closely and they probably haven’t watched Edd China on ‘Wheeler Dealers’ with his famous orange gloves. Watch sign language people on television; they wear black clothing so that you can see their white skinned hands. You can wear pink if you like. Easier to see than black.
Why the heck is it like $350-$700 to replace an air filter then...seriously?? I changed air filters on my small block Chevy and Mercury Capri-II plenty of times. This isn't so difficult or time consuming that a mechanic should charge so much. What the heck.

Great video. Had a little problem getting the box to fit in correctly. Your explanation was spot on , not in the tabs, but on top of them. Thanks
Yea, I was going crazy for a while myself.

Спасибо!!! Как раз нужно поменять фильтр, оказывается ничего сложного!!!
Пожалуйста. Рад, что это сработало. Я использую переводчика.

Thanks! How do I know if our car has an engine 275 or not? Thanks again!

Is 2013 c300 same procedure?
How often you have to change it

I feel your pain. It’s dumb
Same here
Same Here. I managed to get two screws on the right side in, but not the left side.
Three T25 Torx or three T20 Torx?
Which is it?
Also, wear orange or blue gloves! Easier to see your fingers and hands against the background.

That’s the unfortunate world of dealerships and some mechanics. Overcharging.
Same. Box won’t go back in. You now cost me having to call a mobile mechanic. Nice.
My box for back in with some patience. Lmao I didn’t make you follow the video at all. You did that all by yourself big boy.
take some ownership for your screwups
Is this directed to me?
@@HelpingHandAutoRepair hahahaha don't let these trolls affect you, thanks for the video!!
