This EP holds a very special place in my heart. My brother, who i always looked up to, was going off to college. I was pretty sad, since I didnt have a phone of my own to talk to him. My dad got this for me, so i played it. And played it. And played it. This kept me up and happy while waiting for him to come home.

+Kaleb Gallagher A popular argument is that with TS4 you trade the open world for higher quality engine (less lagging) and higher population density. That would be something to think about in 2009, when (coming from TS2) those two options were technically on the same level, kind of. But it's not a fair trade in 2014, when one should expect both the open world AND higher quality game with more Sims. There's also an old argument that The Sims series should run on a wide range of hardware and that's OK, but it drags the game's potential down too much. On the official Sims forums there are threads showing up daily, asking if a laptop for 200-300 $/€ with integrated GPU would run the game. A line needs to be drawn and some resources should be pumped into making the Sims FreePlay (actually, its hypotetical sequel) good enough so those who can't run the main series games or run them well wouldn't feel left out. I'm hopelessly naive but if there's ever a TS5 I hope it's based on DX12. I don't expect (or want) hyperrealistic graphics but there are benefits of great multithreading support and better utilization of hardware resources, like AMD's Mantle. Oh, and tessellation from DX11 :)
Even just a simplified create a style like in the previews of paralives, that way matching wood tones is easy but it doesn't add extra stress on the cpu. I also agree that somewhat of a line should be drawn, people cant expect to run the sims on their macbook air and then complain that theres no content, and considering how crappy our computers were with ts3 i honestly dont understand why people consider it too laggy... If anything they could release a stripped down game like ts4 for people who want the sims on their notebooks and a full game that runs on regular computers
i know this is 5 years later, but the degree is actually worth it, the first time i played university life i did a legacy challlenge and had my founder marry someone that was in the 9th rank of the journalism career, when he finally reached rank 10 he was earning 1100 simoleons per day, once i sent his daughter to college and made her get her degree, she was making that amount per day in as low as level 4 of her profession, when she finally reached level 8 she was making those 1200 simoleons per work hour, and that was such a surprise, the "legacy" ended up being rich by the third generation thanks to a single sim going to college and marrying one of her college mates, i always imagined her dad saying "oh yeah, she makes in an hour what i make in a whole day" and being equally envious and proud of her.

"Nerds can become video game developers". I'm studying game and production design and hang around the local comic book store after classes. TOO CLOSE TO HOME EA!
Watching this in 2024 is insane... I miss TS3 so much. I have it installed but the hype around this when the base dropped in '09 was crazy. I spent so many nights playing virtual dolls and making elaborate soap operas in this game through high school and it still hits right when I open it up!
Don't have to rely on rumors, they've already been announced. Island Paradise expansion pack comes out in later June, the Movie Stuff pack comes out in September, and the Into the Future expansion pack comes later in the fall.
It was my first year of college when the sims university came out and I started playing it. Memories and emotions of college were kind of meshed together with memories of the sims 3 gameplay. Those were some good sim memories for me
This is why I'm here! I missed out on ts3 because I couldn't afford a machine to run it at the time. I've just bought it with every expansion because I've played ts4 since the beginning and it's so crappy!
No, but I might do one once all the expansions and stuff packs are out! Makes more sense to me to wait, instead of having to revise it later once all the packs exist.
Hell, $20 is too much for some of these. Now with origin and such, I would like to see EA release many of these as freeware content for owners of the game.
+Jordan Fronz I'm thinking of doing something similar in mid-2016. I sold my copy of TS3, first three expansion packs and first stuff pack years ago because of ... University. Early 2016 however, I think I'm giving TS3 another try. I'll probably skip TS4. Hopefully the online store will still be ... Online.
That's interesting. Too bad I never REALLY got into the sims enough to worry about it. just looking at how much people I've known have paid for this one game and realizing the absurdity of it all.
I miss the Sims 3... it was so much fun! Especially this pack and the Seasons-pack. The Sims 4 is so much worse. I don't think it will ever get close to the standard of the Sims 3.
Ugh, the sims 3 was so awesome, the only major improvements I've seen with the Sims 4 is CAS is easier and funner and graphics are more pleasing to the eyes.
Just found out that the sims 3 runs perfectly with a few tweaks, so now I'm watching all these reviews to decide wich packs to buy first (eventually I'mma have them all). So thank you for these videos!!
Helena Johannesen When SimCity 2013 first came out it had all sorts of internet connection issues and whatnot it also REQUIRED origin and internet all the time it doesn't require internet now but the damage had been done.
3:16 Then you’re free to do whatever the nuts you want. From frolicking around campus naked, to frolicking your dorm naked, to frolicking around naked people naked! That’s a lot of dongs! Lolz, Clint had such excellent commentary in this series. I love it!
I know this is an old review and I admit I've watched it before, but I watch them now nostaligically as I lament the loss of the Sims 3 type gameplay based on what's been done with Sims 4. RIP the trend of bringing with new games, good gameplay ideas and improvements. As difficult as EA story progression was to deal with, I really feel it's absence when I play Sims 4. Your reviews are excellent and as many have said below, I now always watch your reviews before I buy something Sims related. You've similar gameplay interests to myself and my daughter, so your input has been invaluable. Wish I'd watched your review for Into the Future before I'd bought it!!
Pedro Dorantes It's called The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. If you contact EA support and ask for it, a lot of times they'll just give it to you. Sometimes they'll ask for a product code or other proof that you've owned it, but they might just give it to you for free if you don't have one.
It depends, honesty I love the sims 4 graphics I like the cartoon ish graphics, but i do agree some things annoy me like the whole toddler thing but besides that i really like the game it fits on how I played the sims 4 and yeah, still I love sims 3 more though but of course I would it's a finished game and better for pictures to post for roleplay on instagram xD
I totally agree with you! In my personal opinion I don't like the sims4 at all. I mean I got to agree the graphics look weird to me, like how the other person said. I mean they got rid of some stuff which I don't like.
In sims 4 i expected everything what is in sims 3 + new things but no, they made completly new game with bad gameplay, three houses in who locality ...but "atleast now you can do push-ups on the floor" -.-
Most reasoning for why The Sims 3 is better is because of all the expansion packs so think of base game versus base game. I agree with you that The Sims 3 is WAY better but I don't think The Sims 4 is as bad as you think it is. It is like a cycle people didn't like TS3 when it came out and now people don't like TS4. The Sims 4 is probably the worst game of The Sims series at the moment mostly because there aren't to many EPs or SPs, so don't judge it until all the expansions are out or when The Sims 5 comes out (because EA is a money sucking corporation and will make at least 5 Sims games)
I love this expansion. The thing that annoys me is that there is a message every day when finals are which get annoying. I also got invited to parties almost every day. There was also a plant sim in my dorm and she left a trail of flowers. Other than that, I really like it.
I actually don't mind rabbit holes... I like being able to see my Sims go inside and see updates of stuff they're up to while I can focus on my other sims
*left sims 3* "Woah i think sims 4 is better than S3!" -weeks later- "sorry S3, Mommy is back" I entertaint myself in S4 is create many sims.. just to see what can i create. Then I dumped S4 after that ;D
夜 ' 之雨 right sims 4 has way less content. Unless you pay 50$ for expansion packs or 25 "game packs" aka "things that should have been included in the expansion packs or the base game in the first place".
夜 ' 之雨 I bought it around when it first came out. I had the demo and was so excited. Never been so disappointed. No pools, toddlers, restaurants.. I tried playing it again recently. I got city living and get to work on sale a while back. Game still feels empty. Rarely leave my sim's home. Wish I could play sims 3 again, but I don't think my macbook can run all the expansion packs :/
What a fine lad! I love your reviews and your dry humor makes the entire review informative and funny as hell! I watch your reviews more than 2 times and every minute is a joy.
but LGR left out the most important part (why i chose this exp): extra personality trait slots. Any real simmer knows that personality traits all have their individual pros and cons (but mostly pros) so any opportunity for extra (especially those picked later in life, after you've kicked yourself for not picking that trait for your sim) traits is highly welcome. you earn one extra trait for completing University with a passing grade, the other you get at level 8 (out of 10) influence for a social group. At level 1o you get the job offer LGR mentions.
‘a fancy sheet of paper that is no guarantee of a job whatsoever’ is my absolute favourite part of this video, and how I have always described my degree since I first saw this review
It actually kind of takes forever to get a degree in this expansion, I came home with 30 credits after what seemed a lifetime n had to go back for the other 18 towards my communication degree, the hardest part is keeping ur schedule straight n getting to classes on time, the social group thing (jocks, nerds etc.) seemed king of silly, but I hadn't yet explored it much honestly
I only have Seasons , Supernatrual ,Late Night , University , Showtime , into the future , pets , base game and sims 4 .. sims 3 is better than sims 4 atleast to me.
Loved the pushinguproses sim :) she's so unique i knew who she was the second i saw her I wish i could see her left arm tattoos though, they are beautiful
Definitely one of the top 3 expansion packs. However I found the dorms unrealistic. The rooms were just too spaced out so I ended up making my own dorm building. The rooms were big enough for a bed and a desk(like how real dorms are) and utilized the bunk beds.
I haven't played in years. I have everything made available for The Sims 3 when they came out... and then The Sims 4 arrived. I was torn and then stopped playing all together. Bought my last PC with The Sims 3 as the reason for the upgrade. Anyways.... day off and exploring new videos by Iggy Azalea and reports of Hollywood College fraud to then stumble across your videos. Your video reviews are awesome and full of everything that makes the Sims 3 the better of all Sims games. Even the not so good (Sweet Treats). You've reminded me why I am lacking something in my life today and there is but one solution.... Let there be Sims. Thanks for the fun... Im gonna go and dust of my PC right now. Woo Hoo!
I just got the game a few days ago and tested it out with newly made sims, I picked a dorm and hated trying to make food there. So after I got comfortable with the game, I made them drop out and used one of the guys from my main household and rented a house, and everything seems so much easier living alone, then with a bunch of morons running around, grossing up the area. Just like college in real life.
Sims 4 was intol it's life by the the time I found this channel, but Sims 3 and LGR will always be better. I watch all his TS3 reviews at least once a year, for the sense of humour and his passion for the game.
Yup and let me tell you that when u play it for the first time it’s actually great but after, it’s kinda boring and it’s for this reason that I’m still sticking to TS3 university
You're like the David Foster Wallace of The Sims. Entertaining, cynical, and just the right amount of sarcastic to make me totally question all of my life choices.
When I played this pack, I realized that I could sell the furniture in my dorm building. So then I sold the whole building. And the next one. And the next one. I came home super rich.
Your review is the single most informative review of this exp pack that I have ever seen! (and I have watched many!) What makes your review so awesome? Your perfect balance of humor & information + your obvious intelligence! Thanks so much - was on the fence re buying it @ $30 (price as of August 2013) - now I will the second I can! I look fwd to watching more of your sims reviews, as I am a longtime fan of the franchise, since 2000 or so........
Let's say I have a family of 2 parents and 2 kids. The older kid is at the age of going to college, so when I send him to college for the 16 days or so what happens to the other sims in the family? Do I still have control over them or they are going to age however they want?
When you send your sim off to university, you can only control them but, as far as I know, your sims at home don't age and pretty much freeze in time till you get home
That makes me almost sad. I've spent a lot of money on expansions for every sims game. (I own all of them up to the most recent sims 4 crap) And to think if they were all $3, I would have so. much. money

Watching this in 2024 is insane... I miss TS3 so much. I have it installed but the hype around this when the base dropped in '09 was crazy. I spent so many nights playing virtual dolls and making elaborate soap operas in this game through high school and it still hits right when I open it up!
I'm kind of suprised you'd watch a 30 or 40 year old man review expansions for a teen rated game not that it's bad or anything
@@BotUA-camvertification Why does his age matter? I'm damn near 30, myself.
@@BotUA-camvertificationa teen rating is the minimum age recommended for players. It doesn’t mean that it’s for teens, lmao

Those were some good sim memories for me
I'm convinced TS3 will always be better than TS4, I'm so glad I didn't waste my money on it.
lepelican I'm happy I'm not the only one who hates TS4.
This is why I'm here! I missed out on ts3 because I couldn't afford a machine to run it at the time. I've just bought it with every expansion because I've played ts4 since the beginning and it's so crappy!
I wasted my money on TS4, trust me it sucks
@@ablobofslime4612 in your opinion
Just pirate it lmao
No, but I might do one once all the expansions and stuff packs are out! Makes more sense to me to wait, instead of having to revise it later once all the packs exist.
I can sum up ALL of the Sims expansion packs, ALL of them, in one word:
Overpriced.
+ReddmanDGZ Use to be overpriced, now they're 20$. I just started playing the Sims and got 5 expansions for 100 instead of 200(when they were 40$)
Hell, $20 is too much for some of these.
Online.
+ReddmanDGZ G2A, they have the dlc for under 10 dollars usually
That's interesting. Too bad I never REALLY got into the sims enough to worry about it. just looking at how much people I've known have paid for this one game and realizing the absurdity of it all.
I remember seeing this review in high school and thinking, "It'll be so cool to watch my Sims go to college!"
Now I AM in college...
Now you’re probably done college
I miss the Sims 3... it was so much fun! Especially this pack and the Seasons-pack. The Sims 4 is so much worse. I don't think it will ever get close to the standard of the Sims 3.
Then play the Sims 3, it's not rocket science.
SuperNova unfortunately my computer is not the best and nowadays my sims 3 only crashes whenever I try to play :( in that way the sims 4 is better.
Bernhardina Hörnstein Oh, okay. Yeah, Sims 4 is pretty easy to run, that's why I like it.
the only best sims 3 packs that were good were the lasts expansions they made.
Isabella Harper forgot that late night is the expcetion ^^
Never protest against Death. The Grim Reaper came and killed my Sim. DX
"We want life!" *dies*
And....this is why I'm back to playing Sims 2 and 3. Sims 4 just....wow.
Same haha
Now compare this with The Sims 4: Discover University
A whole clownery 🤦♀️
Ugh, the sims 3 was so awesome, the only major improvements I've seen with the Sims 4 is CAS is easier and funner and graphics are more pleasing to the eyes.
Frl the gameplay is trash and boring, I’m extremely upset
Just found out that the sims 3 runs perfectly with a few tweaks, so now I'm watching all these reviews to decide wich packs to buy first (eventually I'mma have them all). So thank you for these videos!!
Just pirate it lol
The first time I played it my sim died because the vending machine fell on her! So here's a tip DON'T SHAKE THE VENDING MACHINES!

I only now just noticed the "SimDRM" box in the background, that just broke my sides.
Drokash what does it mean tho
Helena Johannesen When SimCity 2013 first came out it had all sorts of internet connection issues and whatnot it also REQUIRED origin and internet all the time it doesn't require internet now but the damage had been done.
But, question is, can you kindle the bonfires with humanity?
Oh wait, wrong game.
Can you reverse hollowing too?

Lolz, Clint had such excellent commentary in this series. I love it!
I never will forget when I got arrested in a party for running naked and there was literally three people next to me naked 😂
Are you talking about the Sims or real life? :P
Am I the only one who wants University Life just because of the better looking phones?
you can just get a mod y'know
I bought it because, since sims 4 has come out..... Every single sims 3 expansion pack its going down on price
Pedro Dorantes and The Sims 2 is free now.
+Nobienify hahaha.... Really???.... Where???
Pedro Dorantes It's called The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. If you contact EA support and ask for it, a lot of times they'll just give it to you. Sometimes they'll ask for a product code or other proof that you've owned it, but they might just give it to you for free if you don't have one.
Sims 3 is cleary better than 4, 4 is big shit its boring after 5 hours of playing
I agree. Lots of people were disappointed when the sims 4 came out and I can see why.
Sorry but Sims 3 will forever be my fav. Even though I love ALL the Sims games 💖
I can relate 🙏
I always watch these videos! They help me decide what to buy! They always get me in the spirit and know what and not what to buy! Your "The Man"!
is like Five "The Sims 4" DLC packs in one!
Amazing!
I actually don't mind rabbit holes... I like being able to see my Sims go inside and see updates of stuff they're up to while I can focus on my other sims
Exactly. I think too many non-rabbit holes would make multi-sim houses feel too horrible to play.
"Rebels" with the rebel insigna. nice :D
I was literally just about to say that! XD
They need a Sims 4 seasons and university. Those were the best sims 3 expansions.
To bad they were some of the last expansions for the Sims 3 so they will probably be the same with the Sims 4.
Toksiik We need Island Paradise for Sims 4
Still waiting for university expansion, if it will come out I’ll repair my computer just to play it cause I remember how good was sims 2 university :/
It kills me that students literally block the classroom doors so my sims take forever to get into class lol
I'm not even all the way through this but your voice and the way you do the voiceover is making this awesome xD

夜 ' 之雨 right sims 4 has way less content. Unless you pay 50$ for expansion packs or 25 "game packs" aka "things that should have been included in the expansion packs or the base game in the first place".
QueenThoria I'm so freaking glad I didn't buy that shit , someone just gave me since they didn't want it anymore. Now I know why they didn't want it.
@QueenThoria Get a PC,those things can run anything
The sims 4 has not only sucked your bank account dry but has sucked the soul out of you.... this video made me realize this
I thought you were going to say "And experimenting with strange new people," haha.
What a fine lad! I love your reviews and your dry humor makes the entire review informative and funny as hell! I watch your reviews more than 2 times and every minute is a joy.
but LGR left out the most important part (why i chose this exp): extra personality trait slots. Any real simmer knows that personality traits all have their individual pros and cons (but mostly pros) so any opportunity for extra (especially those picked later in life, after you've kicked yourself for not picking that trait for your sim) traits is highly welcome.
you earn one extra trait for completing University with a passing grade,
the other you get at level 8 (out of 10) influence for a social group. At level 1o you get the job offer LGR mentions.
I remember playing this for hours when our mum got it. All my kids were promptly sent to boarding school so my adults could go to uni.
i think you've just became my favourite person
I love how all the Sims 3 expansion packs are cheap now. I was able to get Late Night, Seasons, and University Life all for less than $20 on eBay.
The style of the buildings from Sims 3 University Life kind of reminds me of either the real life IU Bloomington campus or the Purdue campus
I only have Seasons , Supernatrual ,Late Night , University , Showtime , into the future , pets , base game and sims 4 .. sims 3 is better than sims 4 atleast to me.
I have late night and base game

Definitely one of the top 3 expansion packs. However I found the dorms unrealistic. The rooms were just too spaced out so I ended up making my own dorm building. The rooms were big enough for a bed and a desk(like how real dorms are) and utilized the bunk beds.
The producers said they did that to make more fun
Woo Hoo!

@@devilslotus4351 are you sure? Sims 4 graphics look like cocomelon + play doh. Just look at the maxis hairs and the food.

You're like the David Foster Wallace of The Sims. Entertaining, cynical, and just the right amount of sarcastic to make me totally question all of my life choices.
This expansion is better than all of Sims 4
And lonely. yup
Your sims at home just freeze until you’re done with college
