I’m so thankful for these videos, I started referring to them months ago while trying to deal with past trauma I’ve never dealt with and clinical depression at the start of the year. Your lessons really resonate with me more than anything else I’ve tried, and I’m glad of your continuing videos while I try and find my feet, they’ve already made such a difference for me.
Am so grateful for these videos. I have been trying to undo the harmful effects of childhood trauma on myself and my relationships and this is very helpful. I knew nothing about the inner child but now, I see that i have some healing work to do.
I can see the payoff my inner child gets. A sense of protection and safety. Yet I can’t seem to convince it that it can have a bigger life. It is just like a little kid that won’t let go of the toy even when you tell it there is a better toy around the corner...
Why let go of the toy if you don't truly believe you should. Perhaps you are still believing there is a benefit in keeping it. Sit with the pain and allow it to teach you.
David and Alex. Yous are amazing and i throughly appreciate the great efforts you both go to in order to communicate wu wei wisdom. I found this one amazing and so helpful. I seen my games and my payoffs and the big unnecessary cost of them. Thank you both
I have watched many of your videos. This video I strongly believe is the truth. It has raised up questions. . How can I claim this idea of not downing my ability.

Hi Alex and David! I absolutely love, love, love your videos and your straightforward, easy to understand explanations of these hugely significant life topics. I referred your channel to a friend of mine who had abusive childhood experiences and he’s benefited so much from your teachings. Thank you for all you do. ❤️🙏🏻 I have one question that I’m so curious to have your perspective on. David often talks about how we create the feeling of love - I intellectually understand that our thoughts create our feelings, but I’m stumped with this idea that we create the feeling of love given the fact that I always thought we arrived into the world, as babies, as these little breathing expressions of love. Don’t babies just love by default? Hasn’t love always been within us? I know I can dial the love I feel up and down with my thoughts, but I also feel that there is an ever present undertone of love existing within me (perhaps I’m mixing this visceral sensation up with my Shen energy?) I also have powerful feelings of love for people like my parents, sibling and ex partner. Not that I would ever want to, but is David’s perspective that I can make this love disappear? Can we delete feelings of love? I would be so grateful for any insight you might have on this subject, or perhaps you could point me to a video that already covers this topic? Sending my very best, and again, thank you so much for your incredible work. 💜
Hi Carrie, thank you for your kind comments. The teaching is: LOVE is a description of an emotion/feeling. We are the creator of our emotions and feelings, therefore, we create a powerful ‘green-light’ emotion/feeling and call it LOVE based on our thoughts and beliefs. The example you offer with a new-born baby is an observation of 'shen', creating a thought based on a belief creating an emotion/feeling of LOVE. I hope that explanation helps you. We will be doing more teachings on this subject in the future. x
Hi, watching this video I am reminded of people who really need to do some self-reflection but demand their personal decisions be respected even when they are hurting others including their young children. I know I personally can't make them change but at what point in counseling or self-development do you say "Hmmmm... all these people are saying the same thing and this person keeps pushing people away, maybe there really is something to address here" rather than approaching it from a "you have let other people seize upon your weakness because you don't believe you are good enough" stance? I love this video, but it can be a fine line between reaffirming people who are behaving dangerously dysfunctionally and supporting those who are only hurting themselves with false negative beliefs. I understand that dysfunctional is likely a result of those same beliefs but when they do believe they are ok to make whatever choices they want despite the damage, that everyone else should respect and accept their choices, that everyone else is being overdramatic and owes it to them deal with it, how does one begin to unravel that? Or is their kid's only hope to just get through it and hopefully be sane enough to do their own personal work? Is there anything that you say to people like this to cause a pivot in their thinking that can improve their lives and those of the people stuck in the vortex around them (namely kids with no power and the people who care about them)? We are in a good place right now as we have been able to separate from most of it in the last year, but these are things we still deal with at times in a relationship tie that can't be severed so it is a curiosity to me if there is a method counselors use to help shift that mindset. I am referring here to behaviors such as drug use in the home, abusive language, withholding affection, gaslighting, screaming for hours, bringing threatening and unstable people to live in the household on a frequent basis, cheating on partners, breaking things, lying to manipulate kids and family/friends, etc but also putting on a public front that touts positive self-development and reflection.
But what if you made really bad mistakes and you can't get over them and you do deserve some criticism when you're wrong and I was. Life-altering decisions is what I mean how do you go about forgiving yourself cuz I genuinely don't think that's possible
Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes, but this is our opportunity to learn and grow. Often past mistakes cannot be undone but you can change your future by not making the same mistake again. Accepting you are not perfect (and no one is) and setting a clear intention to do things differently from now on, rather than beating yourself up or criticising yourself about the past 'mistake', is a more balanced wu wei approach. Wishing you well on your journey. x
He’s assuming people blame others and aren’t looking at what they’re doing blaming themselves for everything. Seems like people in that traumatized state blame themselves big time. I really don’t think it’s a thing of not holding ourselves accountable. To take this attitude about it seems really weird.
