One thing most people fail to notice are the two very long, soft lines Floor sings right after the solos. She does them in one breath each. That's Valkyrie breath control.
One of my draws to Nightwish is their positive energy. Being a heavy metal/hard rock fan most bands I listen to speak of doom & gloom. They are refreshing being metal and overall positive and cheery, and sometimes emotionally you just need that. Love them.
Nick, very good. Now note well, Floor sings "Conquering the darkest places" at the end directly to Tuomas on his podium. I believe for very good reason as the next song in the set list at Wembley, as this is, would be the diametric opposite of this and totally involves Tuomas. You'll get to it and hopefully you'll remember this.
The song is from the 8th album, Endless Forms Most Beautiful, first recorded with Floor, and Kai on drums. Floor is right, this is just a fun song. An alpenglow is the reddish glow seen on mountain faces ,opposite the sun, when it is just below the horizon. A Jub Jub bird is a fictional dangerous creature, first mentioned in the 19th century nonsense poems, "Jabberwocky" and "The Hunting of the Snark" by Lewis Carroll. We Were Here !!, remember that when you get to their song "The Greatest Show On Earth".
Did you notice how long Floors phrases were after the guitar/pipes solos? One of the great uplifting songs from Nightwish . Losing track of which you have done. 7 Days to the Wolves (this Wembley show)? Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Buenos Aires)? Either of those next... Here's a comment from Tuomas: "When I was working on "Alpenglow" I realised I'm not guitarist enough to finish the song, so Emppu completed the riff."
@@johnlindquist1784 👍 It's a quite incredible thing when you notice it, isn't it John? And once noticed, you can't help hearing it every time. (Like Marco's harmonies in Elan.)
"This song, this song just makes you feel great. I mean if you didn't already feel much better than earlier today then or maybe even fantastic by now then this song will kick you right in to it... how about that?" Then at the end "Feeling better?" God bless you Floor. Just look at her loving life on that stage. 🙏👍😊❤
I always get in a good mood hearing this song and seeing the fun the band has on stage, love it! I have a question: What is the name of your video intro and outro music? I like it very much! Cheers!
Nightwish music just puts a smile on your face and ours as well. They have as much fun performing their music as we do watching and hearing it. Are you familiar with Henry David Thoreau the American naturalist, essayist, poet, and philosopher. A leading transcendentalist, who is best known for his book “Walden, a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings”. This song starts out with Floor explaining how good this song will make us feel. Ironically, this song is really all about encouraging us all to find our bliss and grab what life has to offer. Which leads to the ultimate poetic and metaphoric message in this song. Acceptance of the final stage of life as we become the music joining with nature and the beautiful aplenglow, with no regrets. We WERE here! You are my path, my home, my star A beautiful tale within the tale And when the dust needs to move on I will tuck us in on a bed of snow Painting white, silencing the valley we built Together we'll sleep devoured by life We were here Roaming on the endless prairie Writing an endless story Building a Walden of our own We were here Grieving the saddened faces Conquering the darkest places Time to rest now and to finish the show And become the music, one with alpenglow
Alpenglow is an optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite to the Sun when the solar disk is just below the horizon. This effect is easily visible when mountains are illuminated, but can also be seen when clouds are lit through backscatter. And Alpenglow Rockshelter: Archaeological site named after Nightwish Song. And you are correct, the Jubjub Bird is a creature that appears in Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘
It seems that you are ready to see the finale of this album, that closes many of the ideas in My Walden and Alpenglow It's called The Greatest Show on Earth Pretty amazing and long composition
Aside from literally every Nightwish song, you should also check out Within Temptation - some good starters for them would be Stand My Ground, Angels, Memories, Ice Queen, The Promise (definitely Live from the Elements tour!), Somewhere ft Anneke from Black Symphony. Those should get you started :D
Nick I love your Nightwish reactions, they are so pure and honest ❤ this alpenglow recording is so good because you can see and feel the good chemistry in the band in every minute. If you ask for recommendations, no problem! Here are some more must reactions: Dark chest of wonders live at wacken (opener) Shudder before the beautiful live at wembley (opener too) 7 days to the wolves live at Wembley (the sexiest little guitar solo from Empuu here) Weak fantasy live at Tampere The big 2: greatest show on earth live at Tampere and poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley Bless the child live at wacken ❤ .... I could go on and on 😊 the saying is " always your next NW song is your new favorite"
One of my two favourite NW bops, alongside _Storytime._ I have a dream to produce an a cappella version sometime, but it might have to wait until I retire - for one thing I've got to learn to beatbox first... 🤔
A month ago, Floor Jansen uploaded several old music videos to her official website, e.g. After Forever Energize Me. Could it be true that, for example, the song Strong from the album Remagine has been listened to less than 500 times and liked 14 times in over a year? This video gets a lot more views and likes in less than an hour 😮

Happyvibes...happyvibes...Nightwish makes me happy all the time...Thank you for sharing. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.
You can NEVER go wrong with Nightwish, so whatever song you're reacting to next I'll gladly be here... that said, 7 Days To The Wolves please!
I agree...

"7 Days To The Wolves" next please (from this same Wembley 2015 show). It's a banger! - Floor goes into full beast mode
And the pyros are just spectacular !
This is one of the songs I love to listen to in the morning! It always makes me feel great and positive for the rest of my day!

In the middle of the video but I just have to say, your laugh and energy is infectious too🫶
