i'm proud to be in the MCJROTC unit that won the national fitness competition 3 years in a row... even if we came up short this year. but yes... the training our guys who compete get is unreal. by the time i'm a senior i'll be good enough to help start the streak again.
i did the cft in a relay during the sgt majors cup like 2 weeks ago, we won the northwest. that was a badass day, cus it was like 43 degrees and pouring rain in a fresh cut field with all the grass clippings still everywhere
Wished our son(Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion member), could have been included in the Marines who came to St Louis this week. Haven't seen him in over a year, but he has a job to do. He is now back in the state for some more training BUT we are NOT able to go see him. We are hoping the next 2yrs overseas for him will go quickly. All of the Marines we have met have became our adopted sons & daughters. Ooh-rah and Semper Fidelis to all of our sons brothers & sisters in the Marine Corps.
I would never be able to do any of that. Having worked for 15 years in crappy General Motors automobile factories has literally destroyed my body to the point where walking over one flight of stairs while carrying groceries is a very painful, slow and deliberate event. Not obesity, just severe joint pain, muscle & nerve damage and chronic injury that GM or the UAW refuse to pay for fixing. Watching these boot camp videos makes me think I missed a better career choice.
@lancecorporalmoto I was gonna say, I never heard of it...even the Marines that failed PFTs in my unit didn't do that. They just got stuck on remedial PT and had to come in every Saturday morning, while the rest of us got to sleep in and nurse our hangovers from the Friday night prior. LOL.
The CFT alone is pretty difficult the first time you go at it, but I remember at my first PT we had to run 3.5 miles straight and then abother 1.5 miles separted by sets of exercises and THEN the CFT and I just flat out wanted to say fuck it right there I'm done..but then you look back on it and think to yourself that that there's no way you could have ever done that only to realize that it was possible, given the right mind set and motivation.
When I was stationed out at 29 palms, we had to do this in full gear, it was ten pushups at the end, and this whole course was after an "800 meter movement to contact run" and 100 ammo can lifts...Semper
Just go to your C.O. and tell them you want to do something tough. When i was in my NJROTC i suggested we have an actuall rifle team instead of an air rifle team. We couldnt get one in school so we made one out of school. We went to a few events and even went national at one point!
is there gonna be one of these marines week in philadelphia or the philadelphia area? cause me and my friends would love to try this fitness test. and see the other things that the marines would bring to the philly area.
sorry i took so long to respond :) i was in Army Jrotc it was offered in my school but they did a terrible job promoting it. i recently graduated from high school ( 5/22/13) and i began studying for the Asvab especially in math.
WEll being a former marine, i like to jab at other branches, but to me, its friendly rivalry. To be honest, one cannot compare the branches considering our missions are different. Besides any one who raised their right hand to uphold and defend the constituion is A OK in my book... even if they did join the army, not all of us can be perfect!
"A Marine is a Marine. I set that policy two weeks ago - there’s no such thing as a former Marine. You’re a Marine, just in a different uniform and you’re in a different phase of your life. But you’ll always be a Marine because you went to Parris Island, San Diego or the hills of Quantico. There’s no such thing as a former Marine." You earned the title it's yours to keep haha
I heard a time of 1:25 seconds. I watched another video with the same exact course set up but this course was for Marine Corps training. Their best time from a Marine was 2:28 seconds. Hmm
@BackerHall62 because the different cores unofficially have a rivalry going between them. they do not all get the same budget contracts, therefore they aim to out do and degrade one another based on pride and they opposite of unity. marines stick with marines, army sticks with army, and rangers hire people from both depending on their skill.
i dont know if that was all of the training but i play highschool football and i know this is just for people who want to see how it is but if that was administered to me i dont think id have a problem
Bring it up to your Supervisor. If he/she shoots it down. Keep at it, and attempt to inspire the other cadets to go for it. If the supervisor still shoots it down and gives out mediocre PT, go to the supervisors boss and bring it up and there should be a change. if not.... im sorry for you, until you join the armed services.
the reason people criticize every other branch is be because while we are all on the same team, only the Marines leave the bench. ooooooorrrrraaaahhhhhhhh
@WaagooshTheRedFox Every branch has a flaw no single branch has won a battle alone, even marines know this. The marine corps dosent have the large numbers of soldiers as the army nor the heavy mechanized warfare or heavy artillery(needs this).US MC needs the navy(anyone should know).Every branch needs the airforce. The marines have excellent aviation
why is it that every marine video i go to someone always has to criticize the army or another branch, when they are all fighting the same fight? seriously, show some respect
CFT friggin kills you, Its even worse when your on the heavier side and you drag/fireman buddy is almost your weight. Sucks worse than low crawling up a rocky hill in shorts and tshirt.
This would totally be awesome if they came to my school or neighboorhood and did this instead of just doing the pull up test for a shirt or cup or lanyard

I was almost 42 when I retired, I felt bad for being over 3 minutes my final time doing this...
Man I wish I could have been there for this. Signing up real soon and I'd like to get as much practice on stuff like this as possible.
Wish they had brought this to Connecticut, looks sweet!
This was after my time in the Corps...we only had the PFT

Our football team does a different military challenge every year before camp. Last year it was the navy seal course, this year was the marine CFT .
I LOVE THIS KIND OF TRAINING
its the CFT combat fitness test. Just like the PFT you have to do one every year. So yeah you do it in san diego
LCpl D iwakuni, japan
Marines came and did this at my high school in May. Longest ~3 minutes of your life. I'm glad I did it though.
I ship out in July too. We've never done the CFT though.
boot camp for me was pull-ups, push-ups and a 3 mile run, i still remember when they changed the push-ups to pull-ups what a great day ! :-D
You guys got to come back to New York City. I would love to try out that. Count im thinking about being a furture marine!!!!
That little kid is a total boss!
I would never be able to do any of that. I was a grunt for 4 years between '01 and '05...never even heard of a CFT.
LOL.
I am a poolee in the DEP I got 1:42 on the MUF course. 96 ammo can lifts and 2:04 on the 800 meter

I would love to do this for PT in ROTC for high school.
any person on earth can pick up a weapon and fight that's not what makes us great. It's WHY we pick up the weapon to fight that makes a person great.
Just had to do this last week its so tiring.
When I was stationed out at 29 palms, we had to do this in full gear, it was ten pushups at the end, and this whole course was after an "800 meter movement to contact run" and 100 ammo can lifts...Semper
I remember my first CFT is was hard as hell but its a breeze now
Ill admit I was like "oh I could do that" for about 3 seconds. After that I just realized how out of shape I was. Well time to hit the gym. :)
Hahah Our recruiters said that also and said " you wanted this PT that's why you're here and its free"
Don't forget the mile and a half sprint and ammo can lifts before this. This is 1/3 of a CFT
Just go to your C.O. and tell them you want to do something tough. When i was in my NJROTC i suggested we have an actuall rifle team instead of an air rifle team. We couldnt get one in school so we made one out of school. We went to a few events and even went national at one point!
Mandy,
Did you apply for the job at GM? I have chronic spine pain and attitude makes all the difference. You have what you have.
had to do this last week
I'm working on my humps, pull ups, pushups and cardio just so I could be ready to earn the title marine. Can't wait to enlist
is there gonna be one of these marines week in philadelphia or the philadelphia area? cause me and my friends would love to try this fitness test. and see the other things that the marines would bring to the philly area.
what most civillians dont realize is that this is only the last 1/3 of the cft. the first 2/3 is a 800m sprint and then ammo can lifts
sorry i took so long to respond :) i was in Army Jrotc it was offered in my school but they did a terrible job promoting it. i recently graduated from high school ( 5/22/13) and i began studying for the Asvab especially in math.

I think my school has JROTC but I'm not sure about MCJROTC... I hope they do...

Did this at a couple pool-functions in the d.e.p. not too long ago
this is a competition?? i would so own this!
What a proud to be marine !
PULL UPS, SIT UPS, 3 MILE RUN.....THESE ARE THE THINGS WE DO FOR FUN!!!
Why cant they have this where i live?
I heard a time of 1:25 seconds. I watched another video with the same exact course set up but this course was for Marine Corps training. Their best time from a Marine was 2:28 seconds. Hmm
I think the policy for rolled up sleeves will get dis banned when whoever made the "rule" retires or is discharged from the Corps
2:11- 2:16 "well, what do we got here a fuckin comedian, private Joker!" lol
299 today on my CFT that shit hurt!
No matter who you are, if you put out, the CFT will kick your but. That's why I love it. Semper Fi!
@klingeljman They all fight, and are as courageous, so I don't think comparing each would do justice.
motivating.
awesome man!
300 lbs? are you serious? the marine would have cardiac arrest before the patrol is over. a full ruck is about 50-70 lbs.
Our wrestling coach made us do this it’s hard 9-12th graders
Ohh man my recruiter would have never let us drop our ammo cans haha good stuff :)
do they do this in San Diego?
Ohhh heck ya that little kid is a beast!! Oooooh Rahh!!
Did this at a poolee function. Man did it suck but hell great workout
Hey isn't that Jimmy Shea!?!?!!!!
you probably misheard that first time
@BackerHall62 because the different cores unofficially have a rivalry going between them. they do not all get the same budget contracts, therefore they aim to out do and degrade one another based on pride and they opposite of unity. marines stick with marines, army sticks with army, and rangers hire people from both depending on their skill.
Awesome!
wonder if they did the 880 and ammo can lift before the manuf
Come to new york so we can try
Looks fun as hell
i dont know if that was all of the training but i play highschool football and i know this is just for people who want to see how it is but if that was administered to me i dont think id have a problem
this is here in my city im planning on going its in like a couple days :D

ALOT has changed hell I don't know what half the acronymns mean now
the reason people criticize every other branch is be because while we are all on the same team, only the Marines leave the bench. ooooooorrrrraaaahhhhhhhh
That looks so fun too do :D
yeah maybe but i doubt you could do any one of the two in 10 times the time limit they have and marines have more weight than that when they do it
i wish they made a law that all high school students have to train like this :)
do they do this in boston
Thats so cute with the little boy :D
@WaagooshTheRedFox Every branch has a flaw no single branch has won a battle alone, even marines know this. The marine corps dosent have the large numbers of soldiers as the army nor the heavy mechanized warfare or heavy artillery(needs this).US MC needs the navy(anyone should know).Every branch needs the airforce. The marines have excellent aviation
nice that how you know the marines are the best
i want to do this
@sepultallifly CFT's are fairly new so you wouldn't have heard of it.
the CFT is a ball breaker
you obviously haven't watched anything on Parris Island, have you?
Cant wait till im 17
i got 2:15 in the movement under fire, 2:55 in the run , and 128 ammo can lifts :D man this is my favorite test
why is it that every marine video i go to someone always has to criticize the army or another branch, when they are all fighting the same fight? seriously, show some respect
Ohh mannn cain't wait!
Hell of a work out
just goes to show every american has it in them to pick up the fallen weapon and fight this is why we are great
Jimmy D Shea!!!!
You Gotta Love The CFT!!! SEMPER FI!!! DO OR DIE !!USMC
"Residents" of STL. Not "Residence." Ooo-rah.
Build that body the Marine Corps way! :D
Lol quite a few of those guys look like they got smoke checked.
CFT friggin kills you, Its even worse when your on the heavier side and you drag/fireman buddy is almost your weight. Sucks worse than low crawling up a rocky hill in shorts and tshirt.
I'd say gymnasts are the fittest
Goin' to run all day to the runnin's done !
ORAHHH CFT GET SOME!!!!
they probably didn't run the half mile in boots and utes first either
This would totally be awesome if they came to my school or neighboorhood and did this instead of just doing the pull up test for a shirt or cup or lanyard
HELL YEAH
JIMMY!
R.I.P. rolled up sleeves
