I was in the Air Force in Desert Storm, when we first arrived I washed my clothes like this. Then a little later the Saudis provided us laundry service. I stopped using it for I often got wrong uniform items back BDU Pants to small, to short, etc. So I went back to doing my own laundry again as most everyone else did. We would lay our clothing out on the walls behind the jets to dry, the concrete was hot as hell. Whenever they alerted and powered up our clothing was blown out into the desert. Yup war is hell

But after looking into where marines go after service I notice many of them have a hard time getting employed. So I decided to get my bachelors first to prevent that so that way I know I have a job after service.

My older boy was in Iraq in 2007. I've asked him about everything but laundry when he came home. This is good to know. He did say that it was so hot there that he had a heat stroke.

I remember those times. LOL. I remember using MRE boxes with garbage bags and pretty much any kind of soap to clean my uniforms. The upside is, once you put the clothes on a line, across a vehicle or across a cot...it only took a few mins for them to be dry so doing laundry didn't take all day...lol
i remember how powerful detergent is even in the first minute when i was out in theater. i thought washing machines did most of the work but the laundry detergent is some pretty potent stuff

My time in the Navy during Dessert Shield/Storm was a little more comfortable, being onboard the USS America (CV-66). I was an ordanceman in an F-14 Tomcat squadron. Had a few buddies from high-school in the Army during DS that spent some time out in the sand box in Iraq and Kuwait....they had some rough stories. When we all caught-up back home after the war, I kinda felt bad telling them about our 4 meals a day, air-conditioning, laundry and TV, oh, and ice cream....lol. Actually, it was a little fun rubbing it in with them...all in good fun. We're all on the same team. Semper Fi to all my Marine buddies out there.

I grew up doing this. In 5th grade, I had one pair of uniform set and 2 pairs of Chuck Taylors. I hand wash my clothes everyday and wipe my shoes. Btw my shirt was white. I had mad blisters scraping them stains.
Lucky they had a bucket. When I was over there I had to get a large cardboard box and line it with a trash bag and do my laundry in that. Oh the good old days.

In bootcamp you wash on a concrete flat sink and cold water. A brush and liquid soap, just like grandma did!
There’s contractors over seas to do our laundry, and there’s an MOS for that in the Army called 92S

I grew up doing this. In 5th grade, I had one pair of uniform set and 2 pairs of Chuck Taylors. I hand wash my clothes everyday and wipe my shoes. Btw my shirt was white. I had mad blisters scraping them stains.
I didn’t know I was unknowingly training to be in the marines during college. Damn.

Ask for a toilet plunger from back home, cut a hole in the center of the lid and use the bucket whith water as a washer machine whith the plunger

Lucky they had a bucket. When I was over there I had to get a large cardboard box and line it with a trash bag and do my laundry in that. Oh the good old days.
