i feel your pain, when a tiger snake bite took my beloved Kelpie, i cried every day for a month, it was gut wrenching. He was a terrific companion, very smart and loyal. You can never get love like a dogs love.
Sorry to hear that Steve. I'd never hear of a Tiger snake until we uploaded this video. You're the second person to comment that has lost a dog to them.
Feel your pain brother. My Chihuahua named Whiskey suffered the same fate , death by cobra down in Krabi. I do appreciate the realness of your vlogs,
Since this has happened we now realize how common this is. BeBo is about the same size your Whiskey would have been & is very protective. Fortunately, she's easy to pick up & put her in her cage, but there may come a time, again, when I'm not there quick enough.
Australian here, make yourself a snake whip, piece of wood with about 1.5m of heavy gauge fencing wire attached. Excellent tool for a stand off method if required to kill dangerous snakes.
Cheers buddy. I think something like that's a good idea now Spoon is here to deal with them.
Don’t know what to say really,,, still a bit shell shocked,,, but you’re right,, eyes forward good memories always plenty to get on with,, farm life not easy but but worth it 👍
Definitely so mate.
She's got pride of place in the orchard next to the farmhouse.
She'll be able to clearly see Toon beating you at darts on your next visit.
@@TLFarm I hope so 🤷♂️ can’t wait to get back out there 👍
@@chrissmart9625 I think LH2.0 has a squatter. As I went to feed the goats this morning I met a sleepy eyed GeeJaa leaving the property 🤔
@@TLFarm ahh bless her next on my favourite list. So please don’t give her a hard time 🤣
Really sorry for your loss. Dogs really are mans best friend.
Totally agree & thank you.
I thought about investing in a pellet machine for my fish. I buy big bags quite often they are that much but if I had a machine it would save me a trip a few bucks. I also have a huge pond and a small pond. I raise tilapia catfish bass and there’s a few long neck soft shell turtles. One practice I like to keep is to keep the pond edges nice and trimmed as to be able to see moccasins which is a deadly snake. So far this year we’ve killed 6 moccasins. We have 7 dogs. What people have told me that high traffic areas snakes don’t like to be. So we mow more and try to keep the properly trimmed. I can’t even imagine dealing with vipers and cobras. Sorry for your loss ❤.
Totally agree. Alas, with Toon being out of action for so long I'd fallen behind with the grass department.
We still get plenty when it's trim, but at least they're easier to spot.
Hopefully, Toon will be back on her feet soon and I can catch up properly.
Cheers.
Its ways hard loosing a good mate.😢
@@anthonynorth-iw5ih absolutely mate. So many good times shared.
There's oxygen tablets available these days. Maybe consider keeping few packets to hand. They'll help when there's a deficit of oxygen in the water. It'll hopefully give you some time to rectify the main issue at hand.
Funny thing is that Jews and Shia Muslims also dont eat fish without scales.
You need a bubbler or aeration 24/7? Too many fish not enough oxygen in that water?
Can’t you have one of the locals set snake traps to help cut down the problem in Vietnam we don’t see many snakes 🐍 anymore in the country people set dozens of traps and catch them to eat
Do you know what?...We've never seen anyone set snake traps in all our years out here.
Apart from Na Lur, we don't even know anyone who eats them.
It's strange because Toon's dad used to hang up dead ones out by the road years gone by. Locals would always take them.
I blame too much KFC and McDonald's these days.
Sending lots of ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤from the UK look after yourselves you two 😢xxxx😊
Thank you Lynda, will do.
Leigh, am gutted for you with the fish - it just sucks when you get it wrong- but any farmer who hasnt had the chance to learn from his Dad ( the old sods talk like they know it all - and they do) is gonna make mistakes - and its not a sin- you do the best you can and learn from mistakes you make. I respect 100% the way you both do it - hard work and heart. So sorry you lost your dog - they are just straight up the most loyal friend you will ever have - even when they pass, they want to make it easy for their boss.
Brilliant comment thanks KR ⭐⭐⭐
love the channel been watching for a while love the pure honest life and videos! Would you consider a volunteer for a month? I would pay my own way in every way. I would just like to learn the fish and Crayfish lessons.
Thank you muchly. Yes we do farmstays. Just send us an email to leighgal71@gmail.com and we'll send you some details.
So sad to hear about Spoon and the snake... Happy you spent your time with Spoon during the last few minutes,,Condolences and keep moving forward.
Thank you WMP. If I'd have realized what Spoon was up to, I'd have stayed put.
But on the other hand, she went out on her terms.
So sorry for your loss, this was a beautiful memorial to a family member. She will leave a huge hole on Porpaeng farm.
Cheers Matt. Spot on.
Oh no! Not the lovely spoon 😮. Feel for you, nine years she did pretty well and had the best owners ❤ I hope toon gets well soonest. 🤞
Thanks Andrew. Like Bambi, we only have fond memories of Spoon to look back on.
Unfortunately, Toon is still crook. It's going to be a long healing process ahead for her.
It's never easy for someone who's normally so strong and active to be off their feet.
She'll be back for sure.
Sad about your dog mate,,,hope Toon is up and about soon.
Thanks Keith, that's appreciated this end.
I remember you and Toon out at night walking through the foliage to see if you caught something on static lines ,Sod that 🤦♂Love to you and Toon as always 🙏Rip your dog .My god how id love to throw a line out sat next to you and your better half having a giggle and getting half cut Leigh 🤦♂,Can't think of better company if i was in Thailand right now 🙏❤
That's such a great comment for us both to read thanks mate.
Let's hope you can make the pilgrimage over here some time & we'll be sure to get the rods & the Leos out & put the world to rights OR we'll just take it pi$$ out of your fishing lol.
Sorry for your loss. Yeah, there’s a lot of snakes about just now. And the numbers of the various species of Cobra are defo on the rise. I hadn’t seen any Kings for around 2 years and now I’ve seen 4 this last month. One of them was a really big bugger too.
Thanks Krabi. There's only one King Cobra been spotted during our 7 years on the farm. The rest have been these black and creamy white spitting Cobras.
i had geese for snake patrol in isaan ..lots of noise and they hate snakes
Guinea fowl are also a very good alarm for snakes
We heard the same thing so got a few geese to watch over our ducks.
Two Burmese & one reticulated python ate our geese lol.
We know a few people who have them & swear by them ⭐
Toon - hope you start to feel better lass.
Thanks KR, she'll be back 💪
Sad to hear Leigh 💔
Thanks mate. There was a growing likelihood that something like this would eventually happen as Spoon & I were getting older.
So sorry to hear about your dog !!!
Thanks Howey. Man this life isn't half a rollercoaster ride sometimes!
I feel your pain, Tangmo is 10 years old now and just doesn't get around like she used to. I worry about her if she finds a snake now as she hates them, but she isn't as fast as she used to be. It is literally going to kill me when she passes. I feel your pain, this had to be the hardest video you have ever put out.... I'm so sorry you had to go through this....
Nice one thanks Eddie. I've thinking a bit about Tangmo after this happened.
I remember you talking to us about how she goes nuts when she sees snakes.
It's a huge concern with so many Cobras recently.
I can see Tangmo living out her retirement in luxury full-time in your air-conditioned bedroom.
What!...sad days mate... a year old fish can fetch a few shillings eh' ...too bad on ya...sorry you been getting it from all sides there...and I cant even speak to the death of Spoon...loss of a canine companion is the worst ever!...and big hugs for Toon on the mend....keep ur chin up!
Thanks for that Craig. We keep going and I'm sure Toon will be back on form soon.
I'm very sorry to hear about your run of bad luck.
That's how my luck works, good or bad.
Everything is going great for a long time, then it's one thing after another until you think what's next. Can I take any more.
Eventually, the tide turns.
That rings so true to me Richard. It wasn't so long ago we felt like we were finally flying along after an initial turbulent few years on the farm.
So far, 2024 has felt a bit like we're back in the trenches.
Like you say though, things nearly always turn round for the better & we feel blessed once more.
It looks like the extreme heat. Lack of oxygen combined with over-feeding. You appear to be killing them with kindness. Fish (as you know) can go weeks without food. Ease back on the high protein goodies and concentrate on oxygenation. I'm sure you'll come up with a environmently viable solution. 😂
My Thai mother in law and wife kill everything, my dog, my fish my plants with over-feeding. 😢
Cheers mate. I know I shouldn't, but the last part you wrote made me laugh 😂
All dogs given a choice choose to pass elsewhere. I don't know why as you. However, my sheep farmer mates always say this. We've got a couple of snakes that cant hurt you. My condolences. I hope to see you both soon.
Thanks Glenn.
We hope to see you guys once Toon is back on her feet.
Sad times old mate , with animals they bring you so much joy and love all the time . She was playing a high stakes game with the cobras this time she lost sorry to say we feel sad for your loss, our dogs just bark at them and I hide behind the wife giving her advice what to do 😅 . You have a fantastic place there and hope your Boss is well soon , don’t mention the football 😩🍺
Thanks for that CG mate. Yep, you're right, Spoon was always a high stakes roller taking on Cobras.
Think I'll stick to watching Thai women's volleyball rather than the England footy team.
Terrible news!. Should have waited as most fish are fine without food for 2-4 weeks in captivity. As for in your ponds they would likely be fine without feeding for a couple months and it's good for their health. Lesson learnt 🙏
Thanks for the tip actual animals 👍
Hi leigh and Toon, I am so sorry to hear what happened to spoon. You had me in tears with this one mate, I love dogs, so I know how you are feeling right now leigh. You did everything you could mate, cherish the memories and the good times you both had with spoon, ❤.
Thanks for that Giuseppe.
Great dogs always leave a huge void when they leave us.
So many hilarious memories to cherish.
Never good to lose a good friend. Big up to you for sharing everything stay strong TOON and LEIGH onward and upwards stay strong
Thanks for that John. The focus is well & truly trying to get Toon back on her feet.
We'll catch up with everything on the farm once she's firing on all cylinders again.
Hi Leigh I feel for you both as we lost our street terrier dog (Snow White) a few years ago to a snake spit, we still talk about her now, Got 3 Jack Russells now with my oldest dog “Bobby” the best snake dog ever albeit there’s always one that kicks back as we found out a few weeks when they ganged up on a Cobra and my youngest ( 6 months old) Oscar caught some venom in the eye luckily the vet was not far away and he got through it but got a funny coloured eye now when the light shines on it. Keep battling and hope Toon recovers soon x
Thanks Trevor. I can't believe how many people who have dogs have experienced a similar situation with snakes.
I've now wrapped Toon in cottonwool to try and speed up her recovery lol.
funny how we can spot something floating in the pond a mile away....lol...farm life!
In an angler's DNA lol.
Sorry for your loss guy's
RIP SPOON 🙏
Remember the all the good memories of your time with Spoon.
I hope Toon will be back to match fitness soon, thanks for the update.
Thanks Matt, always great to hear from you.... even though it sometimes takes me an age to reply lol.
I should get Toon to take on YT admin duties!
Love, peace be, and comfort to your family. You have had tough times before and you will rise above this too.❤
Thank you so much April. Thankfully, Toon is slowly on the mend and we still have 3 great dogs to share our life with.
So sorry to hear this bad news guys:( thanks for sharing this video with us…..Hope that Toon is feeling better! Take care & be well 😊 Sending you positive thoughts & love ❤️
Always kind words from you guys.
Toon is struggling with the nerve pain but thankfully now able to grab an hour or so of sleep here & there.
@@TLFarm Is it sciatic nerves? Been there with the lower back😱 Feel better Toon 😘
So sad…❤😔
Where is your waterpump + filter
No need in earthen ponds. Just over fed them in one go.
Never had a problem in 7 years, but got it wrong on this occasion 😉
A very informative, moving video.
Thanks Gregory, we move on, gotta roll with the punches.
Looks like she got the snake. 👍🏼
Spoon's last snake ended up being her biggest. Toon & I thought a while back this would eventually happen. She just wouldn't ever back down.
I'm almost lost for words Leigh. It's just been one thing after another for you and Toon. Sometimes life's sadness can be relentless. But as you say, you have to move on quickly, and concentrate on moving forward with the work in hand.
Losing prized fish is one thing but losing a pet that you're emotionally attached to can be heart wrenching. It happened to us a few weeks ago, and we both cried like babies. Which is actually a good thing.
It's crap that Toon's been so poorly, and I bet she feels bad that she had to rest up and leave the work to you, but great to hear she's on the mend. Take care and one day we hope to call in and see you, and I'll show you how crap I am at fishing 😂. 🙏❤🙏
Thank you Chris. Sorry to hear about your recent loss also.
It's been a surprise to hear from so many others how common this sort of thing is.
Regarding Toon, she's going to be out of action for quite some time.
I'll cope, but it's much harder for her. Thankfully, she's made of the right stuff & will be back firing on all cylinders in the future.
