  • This is my opinion and point of view on the Woodmizer LX-25. A really good mill to start and grow with as a Amateur Sawyer. A few tips for beginners as well. Enjoy & Godspeed!

    Great review. Had a lt40hd for 6 years. If you have plenty of people to tote the wood, storage, kiln, and market, it's a good sawmill to get. Most people don't realize the waste or more importantly, the toting of the boards and restacking after the cut. And I never seemed to stack it in the right place. I'm 67. After 60 it started getting harder and harder to move and stack 2x6x16 pine boards. I will only do 8 foot today.

    Great honest review, I have been wanting to see one on Woodmizer budget sawmill. When I was looking for a sawmill 4 years ago, I wanted a mobile one and was going to get the LT28 then I watched a few videos on it and decided I wanted Hydraulics because I'm over 50 and fat lol so I ended up with the LT35HD love the saw just wish it had a bigger capacity. You are correct on the scraps and saw dust, I was not prepared for all that. Good job on the video< I will be checking in to see more

    I drilled and tapped the clamp head and attached a chain then attached that to the clamp frame. Don’t lose the aluminum clamp head anymore.
    I also noticed that your rails have sawdust packed on the edge. I scrape it every cut with a metal scraper. The rubber ones don’t work all that well.

    As for your saw dust chute plugging I have seen other vids where other mills had a screen that the owners cut them out and stopped that problem! I don't have commercial mill, I built my own. I studied quite a few mills and built mine with what I thought would work the best. The 2 that I took from was a Hudson and Timberharveter. Have fun and you will learn a lot in the future!

    Thanks for the review. I have had both an LT40 Super and LT40 Wide over the last 5 years. They are nice but I just was not using them enough to justify the expense. I ordered an LX 25 this spring with 2 bed extensions. I make primarily timber frame beams so the extra track is a plus. Get you a wood boiler for your scrap! Happy sawing.

The technology does not currently exist to meet the EPA 2020 standards for wood burning." I hate it too.. seems like they will be telling us how to wash our drawers next.

    Just a thought. You may want to try cutting back on the blade coolant, it seems like you are using more than you need. That will cause the saw dust to bond and clog the enclosed portion of the saw. Try fewer drips drips and certainly not a stream. Happy sawin!

    Great video, thanks for making it. A real world review is nice to hear. Question; how is the stability of the 2 post design for saw head? Some portable saw mills have a 4 post design like the Woodland Mills setup. I would like to see and hear more of your experience as I’m on the fence myself on making this purchase too. Subscribed!

    • @spiritof7673
      @spiritof7673  3 роки тому

      In my amateur opinion, more stable is better. Don’t get me wrong Woodmizer is well engineered, but as I mentioned in the video I often find I’m using my inside hand to guide the frame thru the cut. That being being said I don’t think you could go wrong with either machine in terms of value at price point. Thanks for watching!

    Sell your wast wood for firewood. I’m sure you’ve heard that a dozen times now. And those full length boards that aren’t perfect make great “farm wood”. Best used for temporary projects. Also look out for very interesting pieces that you could sell for charcuterie boards. You might get $5 a piece. Better than burning them.
