Nice equipment review. As a small acreage farmer it's nice to see what the bid guys work with.

those drive joints remind me of the old OMC stern drive systems on boats from the 70's & 80's.

Krone doesn’t generally recommend lifting the tedders when turning on the headlands as it creates lumps and bald spots

Yeah but If you go near a ditch or fence and turn sharp it will throw the grass everywhere

I don't get why manufacturers and dealers are excited about equipment that puts more of their client base out of business?
Wouldn't it be better to sell 5 smaller machines to 5 farms instead of one big machine to one farm?

generally it's often better (meaning higher roi) to have only a few clients who generate a lot of revenue. less marketing costs, less ads, less management ... however the risk increases as well. if only one or two go out of business or switch dealers you may find yourself in deep trouble quickly. that's why free markets will always fail, sooner or later. they don't incentivize reasonable / thoughtful behavior ;-)

It's called increasing your market base. I'm sure Messick's has no intention of turning their backs on any of their clients (even the difficult ones). Also, if you can use a larger machine in your fields, it increases the time available to do other things on the farm.

Most small farmers can't afford new equipment. Plus there is a lot of used equipment out there for sale from all the farmers calling it quits

@@willdsm08 that's the problem. Guys getting bigger equipment, then needing more ground to justify it and in the end it keeps forcing the smaller guy out.
Bigger isn't always better. Just look at what's happening with meat processors. One big processor gets shut down and guys are killing hogs just to get rid of them. If there were 10 smaller ones instead and one was shut down you'd still have 9 to do the processing.

@@TheGhostOfLuciasClay I said if they can, not that they should. Your point on getting more land to justify equipment is on point, but I was saying IF you can afford larger equipment, to better manage the land you have.
