How Farms Work is a UA-cam channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. Our videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and GMO crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
Be sure to subscribe for new videos every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 11AM Central! - Розваги
The photography is first class, Krone should use it in a commercial.
Ryan, nice video's. Looks like the baler does great job, can't say the same for thr rake you were using. It left lousy windrows that were so wide tractor tires running over hay. Also a lot left on the field, baler thumbs up, rake...thumbs down. Keep up the good work on the videos.
Thank you Ryan for a great promotion, product demo by you and Travis. Very insightful, I can not imagine Krone not being happy with this.
Awesome video Ryan!!! Only I had a difficult time hearing you and Travis as you were reviewing the baler. Loved how tight the baler rapped when building the baler and the net rap looks like it's easy to load a new roll. Thanks for taking us along.......
The baler looks as good as new
Man you guys keep your equipment in tip top shape!
You know you are a big fan of the channel when you watch this in 360p :D
You must be early
Different continent :))
That's definitely a good sign.
I’m a fan of what you guys do! I rarely comment however I’m thankful for what you’re doing...
I completely understand the progression on commercial necessity. Its the smart way to go. After several years of enjoying your video's I have to bow out. I wish you luck and a safe journey. Thanks for the memories. Buck...
Bow out, where you goin?
Caught Rocket dropping a deuce at 1:50. A little fall fertilization courtesy of Rocket! That pickup really yanks the hay into the baler, like the design. Great video Ryan.
Yeah all the manufacturers should go to the camless pickup... Later! OL J R :)
Thanks for sharing Ryan & Travis..
You can't find a better baler then Krone!
Great Video Guys👍
Yalls contouring is amazing
Hey Ryan thank you for sharing this video. Back in the late 50s my dad had an old Allis- Chalmers Roto-Baler . Considering the small round bales at that time , that was a lot of stopping and starting. Everything now is a one or two man operation.
There's some interesting videos of the Roto-baler... good idea (sorta) but ahead of it's time and not too good of an implementation. The bales were very soft, too small, and the starting and stopping killed it, plus picking them up and storing them was a pain I bet.
Later Rotobalers did offer a "continuous" baling feature that basically added some aprons on the front of the baler to pick the hay up and over and dump it back onto the windrow so one could continue to drive forward while the bale tied off and ejected... then the "double windrow" would continue feeding into the chamber once the bale ejected until it was full size and went to tie off, and the cycle would repeat with the apron taking the hay coming from the pickup and dumping back on top of the windrow in front... Kinda weird but actually Krone has a continuous baling concept that's not unlike it, in a way... it stops the incoming hay between some platform feeder belts long enough for the round bale to netwrap and ejected, before releasing the incoming hay to the chamber to begin forming the next bale...

Enjoy! Later! OL J R :)
Love the video could watch them all day if I didn't have school and work,,, ordered a hoodie and some bracelets,,, looking forward to wearing them around wherever I go,,, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK:)
I hope you like them!
big fan of the channel keep up the good work.
Not a bad lookin' bale this thing puts out! Glad it turned out ok! Hope everything else is going well on the farm! Anyways, have a great rest of the day - Everett and Lachlan
Thanks for commenting!
Those were good looking bales. It seemed to gobble up the hay very well.
You guys must have had a blast running that krone... great drone footage 👍👌👍👌
That makes a nice tidy bale, looks easy to operate too as well as easy net changes.
Great video for a demo for krone balers , u won’t be disappointed and looks good behind that John Deere
Great video footage by the way. 👍🏻
Nice demo, and very good results! I'm certain this video will help some people make their purchasing decisions.
Great stuff lads, very professional, real nice baler:):)
Love the video Ryan and Travis .
Awesome video Ryan! I love your channel!
You are the best farmer Ryan I love watching your videos
Nice video Ryan.
Back in the day...we use to WALK along side the HAY WAGON on use our PITCH FORKs topnotch the hay into the hay wagon. Then we would ride to the barn where we pitch the hay into the LOFT or put it outside or in a pasture as a HAY STACK. You do not see HAY STACKS anymore as farming is not steering wheel holders that sit on their duffers bottoms. LOL I'm a differ too now.
Nice machine, hope iT,s doing well for your work.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️Travis loves iT 😃
I have a Krone tedder, and a Krone cutter, and I absolutely love them both. My dealer didn't have a baler in stock last time I was in the market, or I would've probably snagged one of those too. A Krone rotary rake is probably my next purchase. If you could get your dealer to let you video a demo of that, that'd be awesome. You should also join the group "Haymasters" on Facebook. We'd love to see y'all there.
John Deere should be proud Travis has 7600 looking good
that is one thing i have never done,is run a round baler,i have ran a square kicker baler before, work for a farmer that had a Krone Round baler with belts.it was a good baler.one u guys are using looks like it is doing ok!
Great video I might have to look at one of those balers
Crazy how dry the corn is dry when doing third crop hay. Nice video
Pretty awesome baler...not sure about the grass catching up on the front wheel area....looks like it cleared up by the end of the video though....expensive equipment...I like how it kicks out the bale so ya dont have to back up
Thats a really nice looking baler
Hi I live in the uk and I hope u have had a great day
Nice set up.🇮🇪
nice machine! like the John deere and the krone comprima! look like good bales🌾 and feed for the cattle🐄
I like this video a lot great job ryan!
Thanks!
Good looking bale of hay.
I'll be honest, this was the first time I think I've ever really heard Travis talk.... I was surprised at how much his voice sounded like Ryans lol. I was like is Ryan doing a voice over?! haha
Excellent video
That’s a beautiful baker you got there
That bailer makes good bales!
thats most likely becouse the cutter-chopper section act like a magasine that cut and spread out the hay so you minimize the risk from an uneven swath with lumps.
Awesome Job
Awsome vid
Nice review by you and Travis for the Krone baler. How would this style machine work with fodder bales? Thanks for presenting a good info.
Looks like the Krone round baler scarfs down hay as fast as the big baler Wes has on Oneloney farmer.
Have to admit, I never even thought about Krone as an option until first seeing Wesley and now you, using them. Kinda growing on me, as far as looks and ease of operation. The Krone looks to make clean and very tight bales, compared to Deere, too. When storing this would mean more feed stored in same or less amount of space. Great video!
Wow back to a chain baler...most new ones are belt.
Have you guys looked at a McHale v660 round baler? We tried one and it makes some nice tight bales. Most guys in my area have been switching to them.
Ryan. I know I'm a day late and a dollar short. But just today I watched a video of a Krone baler with a rake directly in front of the baler. They come down like bat wings. And you rake and bale in one shot. I sent it to Wesley to check out.
awesome!
I love 4K
Intersted in seeing the bales when you feed them . an the differences in the cut thanks
Nice machine!
Awesome thanks
Krone innovators in equipment and direct marketing. American manufacturers will lag behind but one day, blow you up and pay for the channel exposure and marketing. Great upload and Krone is genius like Rhino Ag to advertise with your channels.
You should buy that baler if youre thinking of expanding the beef cattle
I really appreciate your videos and the education they provide. But it's hard to tell when the video is in slow-motion or sped up. Having seen this baler only on your video, it is difficult to see what is real time or otherwise. Is there a way to include such a notation on the screen?
The photography is almost better than being there in real life.
do you back up to release the bail? how does the mesh tie/bind itself? can you tie /bind a bale at your direction?[if there is not enough for a full bale]. great production your videos are informative. with, the exception of the sound when interviewing a person.
just another nice video , thx ;-)
Thanks for another great video. Nice looking and operating baler, being made in the UK means if you need parts what is the wait time? it would be like going to Europe and buying gray tractors.
I came across this channel via the farming simulator game series, and im loving it. One question if I may, as a city boy, non-farmer, and please i know this is probably a dumb question, but what keeps the round bales together? and how do you know when its full?
I would like to see a sample of hay close up to see how the knives worked
Don't know what the solution is, but I couldn't hear what Travis? was saying -
Wish you could help make a video of my Krone Big M 420. I want that baler
You'll have to see if they will let you demo one of the big M mowers.
Krone, the Cadillac of balers. Just ask Wes.
The krone baler can bale up to 180 cm(5,9 feet) in diameter. Like the name says Krone V 180 XC. 180 for the diameter in cm
What editing program do you use?
I have a krone coprima F155 i run 5000 bales a year thru mine its the best and lowest maintance baler i have ever owned .I have had hesston NH JD and vermer and all i will buy is krone from now on.
how does the Krone perform speed wise compared to your normal bailer?
How do you think it would handle corn fodder?
Get rid of the old jd baler and get this beauty! Krone works like a charm!
Nice... looked like it did a great job. Watched your vid here and Travis's as well, and it's really interesting yall's take on it.
Not been a big fan of the 4 foot bales, but if you can put as much weight of hay into the bale as a five foot wide bale, then there's definitely advantages to the smaller package (denser).
How did you feel it did with handling of the hay?? Did the bars beat it up more than belt balers do?? I don't know if yall had any mostly alfalfa stands or if they were all mixed grass/alfalfa stands, but I've heard the old NH chain/bar balers used to crush up and strip a lot of leaves and beat up grass hay pretty badly, which is why farmers moved away from them. Be interesting to hear your take on that issue...
Later! OL J R :)
What an incredible baler! That machine is pretty sweet. I'd hate to see what the price tag is though...
Record with Comprima F 125 is 149 bales per hour, what's your score?
you use the phantom 3 for this film?
Can’t wait to get my own land to start making some hay
Makes nice bales rayan
Good job, update the bottle calves too
How does the ground speed compare to the Deere baler? Looked like Travis was moving right along.
Hello, I'm BR I really like your channel I hope you see this comment
You still have your backup even with Bale kicker?
Could you get a deere I think it’s the 560 hc with the cutter to compare to the krone
How much pressure was y'all running on the gauge?
Dollar for dollar would you buy one vs. another brand? This one seems to be designed for the job and not just to make round bales. If the bale is more dense then size seems to be a wash.
For years New Holland's round balers had slats or bars instead of belt's. They knocked a lot leaves off the hay. And you could not make corn stock bales with them. Is the krone's a better design?
Krone enclose the chamber so no material can fall out. Or so they say, maybe that helps leaf loss idk.
try out a krone disc mower or haybine or discbine
I think you should buy the krone baler for hay and use the John Deere baler for straw
Are you thinking about getting it
Hey Ryan how does the Krone round baler compare to the new Kuhn. I am currently using a new Deere but not happy with the density and the looks either. Thx Ryan
Great for doing dry material but more at home harvesting marshmallows.
Nice video. Is it normal to have that much dust when bailing? Does the knives cause more dust from additional chopping?
Some yes. Depends on how dry the hay is. Every time you "disturb" the hay you get dust, ie picking it up, cutting it (if you have crop cutter), packing it in the bale chamber, etc.
later! OL J R :)
How are you liking the baler Ryan? Is it something that you would ever think about purchasing or is it just too expensive to justify replacing your current baler?
It's actually a pretty decent price for a baler. About the only downside is the smaller bales but they're easier to transport.
@@HowFarmsWork really I guess I just expected it to be more expensive because it's krone. The bales look really dense but smaller bales helps minimize storage space.
Did you weigh the rolls ?
Previously I have watched you bale rounds with 2 different J D balers and on other channels I have seen several different Red brand round balers running and now, finally, I have seen the Mighty Krone round baler in action. To me, All round balers seem to have one common thread of inefficiency wasting time. I have never observed a Square baler, be it Big Squares or idiot blocks, that did not eject the bale on the run nor a Round baler that Does drop the bale without having to stop forward motion. Why is this? Also, if the "belt" system spun in the opposite direction, wouldn't the bale's reversed rotation, eliminate the tendency for the bale to roll backwards down inclines of the land? sdh in CT
