Dear Chris, I know you probably aren't going to read this comment but .....Natsuki's costume as Black Santa is a reference to the two part Christmas episode of Kamen Rider V3 from 1973 (the episodes in question are Episode 45 - Destron's Christmas Present and Episode 46 - Riderman, Where Will You Go?) in which the moster-of-the-week Sai Tank (literally Rhino Tank) disguises himself as the evil Black Santa to kidnap and brainwash innocent children into minions for the bad guys......like all Kamen Rider episodes it ends with Kamen Rider defeating the bad guys and saving Christmas.....
Congratulations, Pete. I was adopted and I was lucky enough to have always known. I’m so happy for you both and your little bundle of joy. Here’s to many many happy years ahead as a new family 🎉❤
My favorite Natsuki threat of violence was when he was dressed as a pirate for some reason and had a little plastic sword. I think he and Chris were going to a tiki bar or something and Natsuki said "I kill customer."
For the person who mailed in re. Mayo. My wife is Japanese/from Tokyo originally and she HATES warm mayo and has ZERO issue asking for no mayo when we are in Japan. Just say "mayonnaise nashii onegai shimasu" and you'll be fine :) Though take Pete and Chris' advice and try it at least once :)
Congratulations to Pete (and Sarah)! Such a beautiful thing to share at the start of a new year. In fact, it seems all the Petes are becoming fathers this holiday! OK, Donaldson has actually been for a couple years, but we just found out about it. Still, joyful news all around!
I decided to play it both ways with Santa, and told my son from the beginning that it was all a fictional tradition thing, and he’s loved being able to play along just as much as I ever enjoyed my sincere belief (before it was shattered by a bully in the third grade). Did the same with the tooth fairy, great wolf of Wolfenoot, etc., and it turns out, kids love to play pretend, and don’t lose anything by being aware that these things aren’t “real”, except the potential for bullies to use the truth as a weapon.
Banning questionable names is a good thing. They used to do so in Germany too, but they gave up because parents would just sue for the right to ruin their offsprings life.
Most countries ban children (and people) being named "Titles" (You can't name someone Lord if they are not in fact a Lord) and names that would "Humiliate or Negatively effect the Child" (like naming them after notorious historical figures or fictional characters). If you disagree with the ruling you do have the right to dispute it, but then that is front of a judge.
@@boxhead6177 It used to be that way here. Probably titles are still hardbanned by law but basically everything else except really bad shit is allowed by now and you can see it.
Maybe it's a Western thing to bully people for strange names. I've never seen that here in Thailand. Maybe it's because it's nickname, so no one really make a big deal out of it. I've seen all sorts. Some named their kids with all sort of weapon and explosive, like Bomb, Nuclear, C4, Gun. I've never see anyone get bullied for their names, like EVER.
Well, that's pretty cool lore drop for Pete. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say congrats or something but that's awesome to hear Pete. Hope it all goes smoothly and such. Lord Broad, if I may speak freely. Firstly, me and my Mom watched the 21 days in Japan video and it was really good. We always love watching your main channel videos together. Some of my favorites days are when we watch your videos together. Secondly, I think as a viewer I'd LOVE to see if you got together with Pete again next year for X-Mas/December/Christmas-y times and went to the "hot spring village of Ginzan" together. It would be a pretty neat full circle moment for you two and that place is like picture perfect Christmas mood. I'm not sure what the tourism is like though in December so it might not work so this is just my recommendation and I think it would be really cool.
I can't wait get to Japan next week and being for in Japan a month. This will being second time in Japan after 8 years waiting to return Japan. Now I can visit Chris's bar this time around and I'm planning to try cocktails at his bar.
I’m so happy for you Pete! I had no clue! Speaking from personal experience, you dont look tired enough to seem like a parent of a 2 yr old lol, how do you do it
Working through Xmas does take the "magic" away a bit. I volunteered to be part of the skeleton crew to keep things ticking over so I worked up to Xmas Eve and then the day and Boxing day off,l. Unlike when I had a job at a video store and worked on Xmas day.. Festive mood also diminished by having to deal with my kid being cyber bullied. And yes Pete, Google maps can be problematic. I often had to do the Google dance to get going in the right direction. We have had different phones point us in different directions or be oriented completely wrong. For some reason Akihabara was the worst area for this and it was the cause of the rare extreme grumpiness between my partner and me. Still better than the old paper maps. Over twenty years ago in London I had a map produced by McDonald's. It had the location of each Mecca's which was incredibly useful for getting oriented when coming out of tube stations ;)

I’m watching on New Year’s DAY and I am a former teacher, but can’t give birth to my own child because of endometriosis. I am considering fostering or adopting children. Thank you for sharing your experience with adoption! Hallelujah, Amen! Thank you, Jesus.

Because if you then compare it to others, let's say my cousins, it makes you feel like you don't have as much right to be there, it makes you feel less legitimized, so I can only imagine what that would be like for children who have been adopted and have siblings that aren't, I imagine they would then have to spend their entire childhood feeling as if they don't belong compared to their siblings, so I think telling adopted children that they've been adopted from early on is a terrible idea, if anything I think it would be in their best interest to change the paperwork such that it cannot ever be traced back, so neither them nor anyone else could ever find out
I don't agree it would also imply that there is no option for someone who has been adopted to have a connection to there biological family. I am happy that my adopted family did take care of me and love them for it. but I am also happy that I do have a connection with my biological family.
