For those saying they can’t roll their “r” it’s because it takes consistent practice. I used to not be able to do it either but after a year (yes, a year) of trying over and over while learning my Spanish I am finally able to make the trill sound. And it’s still not perfect like a native Spanish speaker but it’s something. Just keep practicing and you’ll get it 👍🏻

Great video! When I taught Spanish, there was always at least one student who couldn’t do the RR. I like how you broke it down into steps. We would practice it altogether so no one felt weird. The kids got really loud with it when they gained confidence. A favorite expression when trying it was: RRuffles have RRidges (potato chips).

Dude. This works. I have never been able to roll my r’s... which, as a singer, is a real hindrance as it’s often expected. I’ve been trying for years, I’ve asked singing teachers to help me, to no avail. I watched the first couple minutes of this video deeply sceptical that this would make any difference, but lo and behold as I practiced along it actually worked- I’m far from perfect or consistent but this is far and away the closest I’ve ever been to rolling my r’s. So grateful!
Amazing technique that I’ve never tried before, after an hour or two of practicing I can roll the tongue at will. Still finding words a little tricky but I feel that will come soon enough, any tips ☺️

Hi bro, I've never been one to leave comments on UA-cam videos, but I just want to say thank you.As with many other Spanish-as-a-second-language learners, I've spent many years trying to learn the Spanish "rr" sound and have watched countless video tutorials in the process, but to no avail. Today, without any expectations as usual and believing that I am biologically incapable of making the "rr" sound, I stumbled upon your video and followed your "hock a loogie" method, and it freaking WORKED!!!!!!!!! Now I'm even more pumped to continue my quest for mastery of the glorious Spanish language. For those who are still struggling, here's my road to success: Step 1: Follow the "hock-a-loogie" method as described in the video. I felt my tongue vibrating a little, but with low consistency and strength. THEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED. Step 2: I added sounds/tones to it while doing the same thing. This time, the consistency and strength of my "rr" sound improved tremendously. Now I'm gonna try incorporating this method into pronouncing real Spanish words. After all, it is what this skill is really meant for. Once again, thank you bro for changing my life in such a SHORT, SUCCINCT and EFFECTIVE video (unlike most other tutorials on UA-cam which are 10+ minutes long). Thank you! P.S. I am an avid language learner from Hong Kong. Your video, I believe, has changed lives of many whose first language is an Asian language (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) whose pronunciation bears little to no resemblance to the Spanish "rr" sound.
Thanks, man! This actually helped me, unlike the other videos I've watched on how to roll your r's. I can't do it perfectly, but I'm slowly getting there. The thing is, I'm not trying to learn some new language or something. My native language requires me to roll my r's & I've always been mocked for not being able to speak correctly in my own language. Soon I'll be able to, tho

Spanish is way more suitable for me, so I get it. Good luck to you. I have a another "r" vs "rr" video coming out soon so be sure to subscribe. God bless.
Dios mío. After years of embarrassment every time I had to say carro or perro, and many other videos on how to do this it’s finally working. Need to practice it more, but this video helped the most.

I can roll my r's sometimes and sometimes I can't. Do you have any suggestions or advice on how to keep relaxed every time? It seems like the more I roll my r's the less relaxed my tongue becomes and then I can't do it again until I wait a while.

I'm so light headed from doing this I feel like i'm going to pass out.
The best video. Since you broke it down before introducing the tone I was able to do it.
ALL MY LIFE I COULDN'T DO IT AND WAS A SHAME TO MY FAMILY. I CAN DO IT NOW OMG RRRRRRRRRRR
Dude.
DUDE i have been trying for so long but after two minutes of this video i was rolling my r's. I've always felt discouraged learning spanish because i couldn't do it before, but this is so cool! thank you so much
Owww los amo a todos, queriendo hablar español con todo y la R. Yo quiero aprender inglés, soy mexicana y me falta perfeccionar mi inglés. Qué gran maestro tienen!
I must have watched a dozen videos on how to trill my r's. Everyone is different but this is the only one that worked for me. Amazing.
Thisjis the closest I’ve ever gotten. Perfectly explained and demonstrated! Thank you!
AY DIOS MÍO HERMANO! you literally saved my Spanish. I’ve been on and off learning for a year (Rosetta Stone, duolingo, my ex and her family speak Spanish, my coworkers speak Spanish and a lot of our customers speak Spanish) and the only challenge I haven’t been able to overcome has been trilling the r’s! Muchas gracias! eres el mejor!
Omg this has helped me so much! I’m still not fully there and have to practice to make it more natural, but the explanation helped me better understand how the trilling process works and I’m so excited bc my rolled r’s are sounding so much better! Thank you!! ❤️
OMG I FINALLY GOT IT! I NEVER LEARNED THE RIGHT WAY BUT I WANT TO BE A VOICE ACTOR SO THIS WAS A MUST! And upon me saying "How could you do this to me Romeo?" at school (mocking soap operas) I accidentally did it right and I BUMPED UP my practicing routine, and I finally got it! It's been so cringy hacking up loogies every night but tis' the cost of practice! Guys the hocking method seems better to in my opinion! Like he says: just get your tongue to wiggle, and slowly move that sensation to the tip of your tongue. Keep trying! I'm finally getting it! Thank you SOOOOO much! If I'm on a public interview someday for being part of a cool show, I'm bringing you up in a story of how I got my awesome Russian accent down!
This helped SO freaking much. I was actually trying to say carro, but couldn't roll the r😂 and after this video, I can do it way better
The hocking a lugey was really helpful! I'm getting the tongue to flutter. Not quite there yet but definite progress.
I JUST SOUND STUPID AF GOD I'M A DISAPPOINTMENT TO MY WHOLE FAMILY
you'll pull through - chin up, chief.
@@deadshotanton9407 This comment deadass made me cry thanks man I'll keep trying my hardest
@@comegetyalljuice155 Never quit ! x
@@solaris3831 The fact that you're putting in effort to learn how to roll your r's makes me so proud of you and I know you can do it. As a wise Naruto icon once said to me, "You'll pull through - chin up, chief."
How is it now???
Omggggggg I’ve never in my life been able to roll my tongue until watching and practicing this video you have no idea how happy you just made me this makes the biggest difference thank you so much!!
Is this something that everyone can actually learn 100% Because I feel like I am physically unable to do this-
Practice bro
I’m sure you probably won’t see this, but this is THE video that worked for me. I legit thought i would never be able to do this. Took some practice, and i still have work to improve but this got me started
I see everything 👀. So glad to be able to help! Keep practicing.
I ROLLED MY R'S THANKS SO MUCH YOU GOT A NEW SUB!!!
This is really helpful! I’ve taken Spanish classes before but I’ve never heard of breathing out like that while you trill. Much easier. THANK YOU!
EVERYONE IN MY FAMILY CAN DO THIS BUT ME. ALL MY FRIENDS CAN DO THIS BUT ME.
WHY.
*life* 🤦♀️🤷🏽♀️
My mom and dad can

I only did it for a half second and I can't replicate it but I have rolled an r and have the strength to continue practice
thank you my friend
my brother is shoving it in my face that he can roll his r’s and i cant :(
Hi bro,
I've never been one to leave comments on UA-cam videos, but I just want to say thank you.As with many other Spanish-as-a-second-language learners, I've spent many years trying to learn the Spanish "rr" sound and have watched countless video tutorials in the process, but to no avail.
For those who are still struggling, here's my road to success:
Step 1: Follow the "hock-a-loogie" method as described in the video.
M A F I A BOSS You can do it. no one ever starts off as a pro unless you're Mozart haha. keep practicing and it'll become second nature. I'm so glad that i can help. what is your native language?
And I know how it feels to be made fun of in your own language.. That's partially why I learned Spanish. I have a slight lisp and I talk really fast in English. Spanish is way more suitable for me, so I get it. Good luck to you. I have a another "r" vs "rr" video coming out soon so be sure to subscribe. God bless.
I JUST ROLLED MY RS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THANKS TO YOU!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cardi: Okurrrrr
Me: Okurr- *chokes*
Dios mío. After years of embarrassment every time I had to say carro or perro, and many other videos on how to do this it’s finally working. Need to practice it more, but this video helped the most.
Lmao I just figured out how to whistle unintentionally by trying to roll my r’s
I learn how to whistle while trying to pronounce B and o in French
I've been trying to understand how to roll the 2 rr's like in Carro for a very long time now and this video just taught me in 6mins and 44secs. You're good
I can roll my r's sometimes and sometimes I can't. Do you have any suggestions or advice on how to keep relaxed every time? It seems like the more I roll my r's the less relaxed my tongue becomes and then I can't do it again until I wait a while.
Same
Same
I can do it slightly but it feels like my throat retracted into itself.
OMG! I did it! I feel like like a little kid. I've been trying to roll my 'r's forever.
If I can beat cod waw campaign on veteran then I can do this
LOL That made my night lol.
All jokes aside though, If you really put your mind to it, you'll accomplish it.
The grenades drove me insane!
_TAKE OUT THOSE FUKIN' PT BOATS!_
Before this video I didn’t think I would EVER be able to roll my R’s but this technique changed that in like like 5 mins!!!
Thank you so much :D
It helps to use “Rico” as a practice word.
True. Any word that starts with 'r' honestly
I have been trying to learn this for a over a decade and the lugee thing has been a game changer.
Brother here I'll leave you a tongue twister, That the teachers they gave us at school in Cuba to pronounce the R correctly,
R con R cigarro, R con R carrier rapido pasan los carros por la linia del ferro carril
Luciano Montana Montana haha this one is very common. I actually did this one in my tongue twister video from last year. Thanks for sharing!
Imagínate eso existe antes de nosotros nacer, hahahahah
Luciano Montana Montana Sería muchísimo mas fácil asi lol. La R es difícil pa todo el mundo.
I watched probably a dozen videos now to help me roll my "erre" and it was your tip about "hocking a loogie" that helped me tense my tongue at the *back* of my mouth in the correct way. Once I felt this, it magically came out in the corrrrrrrect way!.The other videos led me to focusing too much on the tip of my tongue. Maybe it seems a bit gross but it was exactly what I was missing! Thank you so much for this.
Hey I'm a native Spanish speaker and I wasn't able to pronounce it, thanks!
