- Quick zero to sixty on the Vaquero. The numbers are close to stock specifications. Stock numbers are 0-60 5.5 and the quarter mile 14 flat. The only modification my bike has is a Power Commander 5. Thanks for watching!!

After riding a 06 Suzuki Boulevard M109r with Cobra exhaust for over a year, it has RUINED me riding anything else. The M109r pulls like a mule and compared to my newly purchased 2015 Vaquero, the Vaquero feels like it's missing its balls. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Vaquero. It's a way sexier, more practical touring option than my M109r, but the lack of "umph" and the annoying tendency to accidentally get my left ankle hooked on the left passenger floor boards when taking off at a red light is really jarring. I'm trying to get used to the bike, and having a pretty awkward time but it's still a BEAUTIFUL machine and I can't wait to do some real deal touring this summer.
You are exactly right man. That's M109R is a beast of a machine. It's just pure muscle💪🏿. Suzuki did very well with that bike. I have 2 friends that own the M109R and they move it. As you stated the Vaquero would be the practical touring bike which is what I'm in too versus a muscle cruiser😁. With a fuel tuner the Vaquero with run very well. I currently have a Power Commander 5 and it wakes the bike up alot🤌🏿. Also you may know, alot of Vaq owners get that Ivan ECU flash. All in all the Vaq is a pretty good bike 🏍. Stay safe!!✌🏿
I work 3rd shift. I do that getting onto I-95 at night. I'm not disappointed regarding performance of a factory "bagger". I've been riding a 79' KZ1000 ST mainly for the past 15yrs. It's quicker than the 79' GL1000 I had too. Bought my 21' Vulcan 1700 Vaquero in April this year, already have over 900mi on it. Not bad being in NH and they're resurfacing the hi-way I ride on. I think the xtra wt actually helps regarding handling on cheese-grater roads.
I love the Kawasaki Vaquero. It preforms really well. Mine just hit 20K miles this past weekend. Great bike! Stay safe!!👍🏿💯

I'm getting the new gray one next riding season. Was your ivanized? Or is that just factory muscle. All I want to add to mine is Apes, backrest, and slipons. Im on the fence about flashing the ecu
That's awesome Rod!! Thanks for watching!! I actually have a Power Commander 5 installed. I may get the Ivan tune next year. Me personally, I wouldn't get the tune if your getting a brand new bike. It'll void out your Kawasaki warranty. But if you plan on keeping the bike a while maybe a smart decision. The flash basically wakes the bike up, makes the throttle smoother, more horsepower, and makes the cooling fan comes on earlier. Either way the runs good stock, but better with the Ivan tune. @@TD205 ok... ok... cool. Im not looking for super speed or nothing just reliable cruising. Out of all the vids I have seen... I have only found 1 where someone might have had a problem. I think the bike is killer... I wasn't gonna add much. I was thinking about the power commander instead of Ivan's tune just for the freedom exhaust. The vaquero community has been great after leaving the expensive harley davidson brand.. nothing against them, but they are way to pricey and require to much expensive matenince. I just wanna ride. You guys just have a good time on the Kawi! Yes sir thanks for the input. That gray color just pushed me over the edge... I had to have it lol
@@rodericksaunders5887 Yeah man, you can't good wrong with it in my opinion👍🏿. I've owb my bike for 1 year now and ask ke how many times it's been in the shop?? "Zero". All you really have to do it's keep the oil change, clutch fluid clean, and tires on it. The Vaquero/Voyager will run for ever👌🏿. Unlike other manufacturers, but that's a different topic😁. I just love the Japanese durability and reliability💯.

@@TD205 Well worth the investment. Be sure to pick out your exhaust and/or air intake if you choose before you send it out to Ivan.
@@paulmolinari5784 I'm sure it is. My friend has his Voyager Ivan flash. He stated the main difference is the throttle response and cooler engine temp. His air take is stock, I'll have to read up on that. But he does have Cobra pipes. I follow a Vaquero forum and some people leave their stock intake and some choose to change it out. I plan on doing the Freedom Perfomance single side exhaust.
@@TD205 My air intake is stock with just K&N drop in. I have V&H slip-ons. The freedom 2 into 1 combat is a nice exhaust, had it on previous bike. Air intake modification is only beneficial if you're going to rip it past 4k RPM, thats per Ivan. Not only is it throttle response and engine cooling temp, its engine breaking, power limiters removed, more restrictions removed and whole ECU remapping. Plus the bike doesn't feel like it wants to die on slow speed turns.

My Vulcan 2000 (from what I have read, dont hit it that hard) is rev limited to 4900RPM. The gearing is quite a bit different, I'd be in 3rd by the time I got to 60 but now I gotta try, just once, and see what my numbers are.
Didn't buy the 2000 for speed, I bought it for the BIG V-twin sound and feel.

Another thing man. The place I bought my bike from did not prep that bike. My tires were inflated at 24 in the front and 31psi in the rear. Oil was low which cause the engine to run hot.
DANG!! I would've taken it back and have them do it. Especially if you purchase it from a certified dealer😫. Private it own purchase I could understand a little. Keep a eye on your general maintenance and fluids.👍🏿

TD I bought a 13" windshield for my Vaquero. It caused a lot of buffering where my vision is slightly blurred from wind vibration.i had to put my stock shield back on. At least I can see clear.
If it was a tinted windshield, yeah that 13" would obstruct your field of view. No sure about the buffering, I assume if would have blocked all the wind being so tall. I believe mine is a tinted 8"(BaggerShield) which is prefect for me. As long as you can see that's perfect.
What are the things on the windscreen? The attachment points for something?
Yes, they are bolts for the 2 inch attachment windshield. I took the attachment screen off. I like riding like this. You can check out other videos were I had it on.👍🏿

No worries man. If you have a Gopro Hero 5 and up. You can download the Gopro Quik app via cellphone or computer. Once you're in the editing and creator mode you can add the stickers.👍🏿 Easy as 1, 2, 3.👌🏿
