An incredibly skilled and musical player. Guys like this are operating at a completely different frequency than most of us. Don't be discouraged, just be glad there are gifted musicians like him that can reveal to us all what is possible. Seems like a real caring type of a person too.
I gotta say, I have learnt alot from watching Guthrie, I think he is probably one of the few guitarists that can teach in a way that makes total sense, and also gives examples when it comes to techniques
That trick about bringing your bend slightly sharp and then pulling up and down to get the proper tune vibrato was a huge breakthrough for me. It sounds simple but I wasn't doing it and not thinking to I guess. I kept trying to bend it to the pitch exactly and then come down and back up and it sounded like shit but that idea of bending to the note and bringing it slightly higher so when you're going up and down your in tune still totally changed my vibrato on bends. Like a light bulb going on.
This guy is a real innovator, he changed the way how we look at guitar today. His names needs to be along with those of Hendrix, R. Blackmore, J. Page or Brian May
Roland Mátyási I love his playing, his teaching videos, Erotic Cakes, and The Aristocrats...but I've never thought of him as an innovator. He's more like a dictionary of everything electric guitar.
+IGotSoupProductions I agree. I don't think he's added anything new in terms of guitar technique or composition, but damn he's mastered guitar playing and as you said, is the dictionary of electric guitar
Guthrie is a Saint.... These guys have devoted their lives entirely to the love of their instruments..! I could have never thought that could bend chromatically like he showed and moreover he showed the practical application too...!
Hilarious and so stereotypical, the german guy at 1:44 asks if you could use a tuner to make sure you're playing the notes right hahahah omg it's like they dropped the token German guy into the clinic lol "NEIN!! IT MUST BE ACCURATE! DAS IST NICHT AUSGEZEICHNET!!"
2:45. Depends on which part of the bend gets the emphasis. You can do a slow a bend bent to perfect pitch and release the bend (make it go flat) as long bent note is heard for slightly longer than the flat note. A fast vibrato probably sounds better going sharp. I like the sound of a slow vibrato going flat then returning to pitch slightly faster than the release to the flatted note.
@CWPtacek i have seen emails to users on youtube which ask for videos to be removed due to potentially damaging his reputation. so i guess it must be both the reason i have seen and the reasons you have heard.
Provided your bridge and nut have no sharp edges, it's actually quite possible to bend the strings even further using 10s or even 11s. However, doing that for prolonged periods of time increases the risk of hurting either your finger tips or hand muscles if you're not sufficiently warmed up and have callouses of utter deadly awesomeness, so yeah...
@Dudleyrulz Well, I'm not accusing anyone of doing anything evil. I know what it was like, when I was dying to get every last piece of recorded footage of my favorite guitarists back in the day. All I know is, in so many words, in conversations I've had with GG at public events, he said that the reason he doesn't want bootlegs and youtube stuff floating is NOT because it may reflect poorly on him, but because he does those events for the attendees, not for the nameless/faceless internet.
@daveireland27 unfortunately last time it was uploaded in its entirity it was asked to be taken down by guthrie. so i shouldn't really even be trading it. its somthing that should be kept to yourself so as not to annoy GG. so if i do trade it the person who gets would have to adhere to these conditions.
@ricomajestic Guthrie govan words of wisdom His bending master class (different from this video) Just search up Guthrie govan clinic Or Guthrie govan and just watch every possible video

Can confirm he is an absolute top bloke as well.
And you are as well😀
Agrees with Sutapa 🤟
I gotta say, I have learnt alot from watching Guthrie, I think he is probably one of the few guitarists that can teach in a way that makes total sense, and also gives examples when it comes to techniques
have you tryed Yngwie Malmsteen teaching?!!?!? ....... jk
ive been playing guitar for more than 30 years.... and never seen anybody like this guy... he is awesome...
On'y Guthrie could play Flight of the Bumblebee on one fret.
And only one string
@@DennyBahana i don't see how it can be one fret and two strings

Thats amazing!
Amazing lesson! After 20 minutes of practicing, it really helps improve my bending technique
I cannot believe that I’ve only now found this guy. Great explanations and for a visual learner. Me! He’s a god send. Thanks man
love that bend of Gary moore parisian walkways 2:53
even when talking about simple techiniques, this guy blows my mind
his teaching is like his playing: expert level, highly developed and refined and just fantastic fun to see and hear.
He makes me unable to put my guitar down. So much inspiration.
IGotSoupProductions interesting view, thanks. I still believe he is a real innovator of guitar playing although I got your point as well
+IGotSoupProductions I agree. I don't think he's added anything new in terms of guitar technique or composition, but damn he's mastered guitar playing and as you said, is the dictionary of electric guitar
Roland Mátyási lol
..no ..he's a great player and teacher but he just doesn't have that special edge to rank alongside the likes of Hendrix , Page etc..
Guthrie doesnt make mistakes. He just makes wrong notes sound right.
What a master
Bro, his bending is so unbelievably intentional and vocal
Very much so!
great guitarist and even greater teacher and even better presenter/performer
Guthrie is a Saint....
These guys have devoted their lives entirely to the love of their instruments..!
I could have never thought that could bend chromatically like he showed and moreover he showed the practical application too...!
UnReal - Thanks Guthrie. Learning so much from you. Your Masterful Playing Inspires me.
Just quality...an excellent way of explaining all things guitar!!
He's amazing 😁😮...
Guthrie Govan is like the Vsauce of music.
Or Vsauce is the Guthrie Govan of Science
This guy is the best guitar teacher I have seen. The combination of musicality, genres and chops is awesome. Not just a shred head.
Amazing guitarist. He vibrates - with his fingers - strings the way Jeff Beck vibrates with the tremolo arm.
Wonderful video ! many thanks for this moment....have a nice day
He obviously enjoys it. Notice how the bends make him smile! And, the technical is required for better playing.
Priceless
5:30 INCOMING!!!!!
GroovinMWC It's the actual "flight of the bumblebee"!!!!! he invoked it :O
As the fly approaches 'fuck' 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much for this lesson! Can't wait to start practicing it!
I ever thought my bendings sucks, no I realized that I can't found a word to describe how I really suck
Judah Ben Hur
Work on your English before your bending😂
Hilarious and so stereotypical, the german guy at 1:44 asks if you could use a tuner to make sure you're playing the notes right hahahah omg it's like they dropped the token German guy into the clinic lol "NEIN!! IT MUST BE ACCURATE! DAS IST NICHT AUSGEZEICHNET!!"
***** lol I should know.. I lived there for 3 years :-)
hahahaha... excellent! Germans, you know... :)
Philip Zilfo hahahahahah that’s some funny shit!
Start playing guitar at the age of 3. Now he has 43. 40 years of playing guitar. Ok bye!
+Michele Bogdan Craciun bye.
Thinking that he was still in school in the amount of time I study music at all
bumble bee with bends...phenomenal, this cat is probably the most intriguing shredder in the world.
nice lesson ... thx for posting !

+jerky2112 I am now thinking there may be more subtle variation involved in viabrato than I realized.
A Master!!
perfect player✌️
"Or if you are Zakk Wylde" lol
Can you put a time stamp
3:36
I swear, this guy's vibrato is the tastiest thing ever.

4:43 Moondance by Van Morrison.
1:04 ive heard that before but where
My favorite guitarist alive other than David Gilmour. But Guthrie teaches too, so he's so much more influential
It was the bumblebee asking Govan to play its song!
man i wanna see him rip on that caparison in the background
Short and not melodic but still fun as hell: ua-cam.com/video/hzg4tSKnZyw/v-deo.html
marty friedman has to be the king of that kind of prebending and going slightly flat
+Mihalis Salpadimos - lol yah and eddie *invented* tapping...
I love how he plays flight of the bumble bee then a bee flies into his face! how ironic? cool vid tho
+Kedree Young I read your comment, looked out the window, and there's a bee trying to get in.. ;o(
Guthrie is the St Francis of the guitar world.
Also, if I got the opportunity to have Guthrie as a guitar teacher, I'd say yes without hesitating
3:00 man, that face is pure happiness
is that the guitar player from intervals there on the right?
yeah you're right, they both sound similar at that bit!
i got a dvd of this guy teaching vai, so helpful
"just be honest with yourself."
well, I'm never going be this good, ever.
5:11 sounds like Marty Friedman
+Evil Snake's Music +100000000
Marty better than this guy
6:03 , activate subs and the guitar speaks "we movin, the million, hey, the nikkei, have more meaning" lol
It actually kinds sounds like that XD.

Wtf....
lol, guthrie stuff :D
awesum, it's the Freak Guitar Camp
No matter which guitar or amp, it always sounds meaty or mellow - I guess it's the fingers your honour...
I love his indian phrasing at the end of the vid :D
@CWPtacek i have seen emails to users on youtube which ask for videos to be removed due to potentially damaging his reputation. so i guess it must be both the reason i have seen and the reasons you have heard.
what song he plays at 1:05 ?
"If I Only Had A Brain" from the wizard of oz.
1:25 yay..we all will try that right now..and we all will fail ;o)

Bruh 6 years playing and my vibratos sounds like a beginner even after practicing a lot :( guess I'll have to keep doing it
4:05 Goodbye Pork Pie Hat
@louie180 That was the bumblebee from hell that comes if you play it with bending.
did anybody else notice he started playing parisienne walkways at 2:57 and then he smiled at the camera .
also I think I heard a bit of 'If I only had a heart' from wizard of oz?
wonder how long until this gets removed like last time.
2:57- 3:10 B.B King - Night life
@Sambuccashake i have the whole clinic and would be willing to trade it for any other rare guthrie stuff.
yo, 1 second in and i already lost it
@joesatriani1200rulez isn't it blue bossa?
2:56 Mr crowley
it's close but I think it's parisienne walkways by Gary Moore
ThePepitothepew correct
@Dudleyrulz Why dont you just post it & share it with the geetar community dude? I can tell you now that hundreds of players would love to see it!
@hedrasramoslive
Alas, this is the only clip I've gotten my hands on.
@pakk82 I think he said bug.
@Dudleyrulz Well, I'm not accusing anyone of doing anything evil. I know what it was like, when I was dying to get every last piece of recorded footage of my favorite guitarists back in the day. who else broke their b string trying this?
what song? 1:06
If I only had a brain from Wizard of Oz.
its all in the microtonal nuances
@daveireland27 unfortunately last time it was uploaded in its entirity it was asked to be taken down by guthrie. so i shouldn't really even be trading it. its somthing that should be kept to yourself so as not to annoy GG. so if i do trade it the person who gets would have to adhere to these conditions.

i dont think anyone recognised him playing parisienne walkways at around 3:01
Somebody Remind me to study what he is doing at 2:51\
