Oh would you relax people. If it doesn't make sense, who cares, LET'S KEEP IT ANYWAYS! That's the american way with everything, isn't it? :D The 'sane' system as Adam Savage calls it is nothing short of perfect for science, some argue that the imperial system with cups and whatnot is easier to use in the kitchen. I don't know, a scale, milliliters and grams are my choice no matter what. On the other hand: WHAT THE FUCK IS A CUP OF SHRIMP?! That ain't a measurement for seafood!!!
It's called muddling, not squashing. Use a muddler with a flatter, less 'textured' end as you risk breaking up the mint. The mint is slapped to release the oils and aromas without breaking up the leaf (which will make the drink bitter, and get leaf in your straw). Once the rum, sugar, lime and mint are all in the glass, fill with crushed ice up to about 3/4 full. You can pull the ingredients up through the ice easier, THEN add your soda and top off with more crushed ice. The goal is to mix the sugar in as well as get the lime and mint away from the bottom of the glass, since that's where your straw will get the drink from (and it looks nicer). Experiment with different rums, other mixers instead of soda (not too sugary!) and different sugars (like dark sugar). A favourite of mine is 1/2 Myers dark rum, 1/2 Sailor jerry's spiced rum, lime, demerara sugar and topped with a dash of apple juice.
Aw, thanks *****. Have you heard about our #CocktailRequest week which starts tomorrow? Send us some inspiration for a brand new cocktail and our experts could be rustling one up for you. The inspiration could be a flavour, a place, a game or even a photo. Fancy sending us something? :)
You never wanna muddle the mint that strongly since it releases bitter aromas coming from tannoids. Just gently free the essential oils. First you add the lime pieces and the sugar. Muddle it fairly strong. Then the leaves which you wanna muddle carefully.
Oh man, just made this...so freaking nice! But I've put in Sprite inside of plain soda water plus I do not need to put in the spoonful of sugar as its already sweet with the sprite...Cheers!
JAMIE you are so entertaining. So nice to have your presence on youtube!! Can't believe I just discovered you had a channel on here. I've been relying on your cookbooks when I could have had the whole experience right here all along! thnx!!!!
everything you touch Jamie turns into gold!!! I always have to buy crushed ice now I know how to make it easier bc of you :D thanks a lot!! You're such an inspiration! kisses from Germany!!
I’ve come to highly respect your tastes with cocktails, if I see that you’ve made one when I’m looking up cocktail recipe videos I always go with yours first. Saves a bunch of time trying to find recipes I like lol. I really enjoy your drinks UA-cam channel, keep up the great work Jaime! This might be a random question, but if my observation was right I think you’ll know what I mean. I was jw if you know Hiram, the Widows Son? Like myself, I believe you too be a traveling man.
Jamie Oliver is really king in front of a camera! 👏🏽 REMEMBER GUYS: If your Mojito is too sweet then add more lime. If your Mojito is too bitter then add sugar syrup (1 part boiling water mixed with 1 kg fine sugar). Balance is key! 😎
A very refreshing drink if you haven't had one before. Jamie's Mojito is a pleasant and nice way to make a European version of this cocktail. If you want to experience a REAL Mojito as it ought to be or at least see how to make it truly as they do in the Caribbean then you need to visit Cuba. No excuses. GO Cuba.
I was expecting you to make some sort of over complicated "European version" of a great classic, but no, You actually made a real Cuban style Mojito. Props Jamie, I was pleasantly surprised!
Thank you t the book .really amazing with photos that's really easy .hope if I can find the same here in UAE for Gennaro and Martha .but must be same with photos and explanation.
Hi Mr great chef, i am from Pakistan, i have been watching ur recipes since 20 yrs , a biggg fan of u, i love mocktails but they are very expensive in restaurant, can u teach to make simple and non alcoholic mocktails ... please it is a request...
Jamie Oliver's Drinks Tube next time you make mojitos, only use 50% of the soda water and use something like sprite for the rest. you will love me after trying it.
+Danny Kurniawan Ginger Ale works decently. Look for "virgin mojito" for ideas. For Virgin Capirinhas, tonic water works too, but in the mojito I find the chinine too dominant over the mint. The mint still needs spanking, even in virgin cocktails ;)
I once had an apple sorbet mojito. Cloudy apple juice and a small amount of lime and mint with a scoop of sorbet on top to serve - D'lish! Would also love to see a video for the Pappa 'G' cocktail you serve at Jamie's Italian Sydney, Australia! Cheers!
Ha, Jamie during my culinaery study I asked my teacher why not to pommel the mint and lime to death in a glass during mixing sessions, he couldn't tell me why >.
Wow man that is a very good mojito, I have been doing it wrong all my life, I am the kind of guy who almost blend the mint, lemon and suggar. I am going to have one now. Cheers
Hey, first of all this looks absolutely delicious! second of all, just wanted to know if there is anything i can replace the limes with, like lemons or lime juice for instance, since i cannot find limes in the area i live in. i'd appriciate it if you could answer me, thanx alot!
+Mexi Jitsu Thanks for your lovely comment, Mexi. You can, of course, replace the limes with lime juice. If you're looking for a CLASSIC Mojito, we'd suggest sticking with limes rather than lemons.
FINALLY - A COCKTAIL RECIPE ON UA-cam USING THE METRIC SYSTEM
FUCK RETARDED IMPERIAL, MAKES NO SENSE
99legion I seriously hope that's a joke..
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_empires Just give it a little check love, you might find some useful information and facts there.
Oh would you relax people. If it doesn't make sense, who cares, LET'S KEEP IT ANYWAYS! That's the american way with everything, isn't it? :D
The 'sane' system as Adam Savage calls it is nothing short of perfect for science, some argue that the imperial system with cups and whatnot is easier to use in the kitchen. I don't know, a scale, milliliters and grams are my choice no matter what.
On the other hand:

Shadow Reaper America doesn't use the imperial system. They use similar but still significantly different U.S. customary units.
Everything is better with a little spank ? You naughty boy
Oh, this man and their "mojito", so easy and cool!
You know us too well :)
My point exactly
No one is good in the world
I tried making it didn't quite get the taste I wanted kept trying now I am drunk, but I finally got a great tasting mojito.
Maybe it just tasted better cos u were drunk lol
Learning by doing is the best way to improve.
🤪🤪🤪
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂🙌🙌🙌
Now that's how you make a cocktail at home without fancy equipments and measuring cups. This guy is a legend.
"Everything in life is better with a little spank" hahahahaaaha

FIRST TIME WATCH MOJITO VIDEO AND YOU HAVE TO WATCH TO AND MAKE IT. THANK YOU JAMIE
Mojitos remind me so much of last summer in spain, with the sun beating down on my face and endless mojitos on the beach... Take me back!

Luke Clow is soda meant to be like sprite or soda water?
If you look it up in my language it can be both. 🤔
I'm sorry, but can somebody tell me where did the rum go??!
Before the ice
In the glass

I just made this, it turned out great. I recommend using a straw as you'll just get a mouth full of ice water if you sip from the top.
Such a pleasure to watch you work your magic Jamie! Beautifully done!
+The Easy Bartender Thanks for tuning in!
I also love your 5 ingredients recipes on TLC

We'll let ***** explain...
Jamie Oliver's Drinks Tube next time you make mojitos, only use 50% of the soda water and use something like sprite for the rest. you will love me after trying it.
Toothless Night Fury tried that and its actally quite nice!! +1
Lol! Spanking!
