    I was actually searching UA-cam trying to find a way to get across the big lake behind my house. I thought the video said , "How To Build A Bridge," but this video was so good that I'm giving up on that idea and I'm spending the money on Cubase and a microphone... 😉 Awesome video Austin! 🙌🏻🔥

    Traditionally a 'bridge' was a chord sequence to connect a verse to a chorus and what you're describing was referred to as a 'middle 8'...Now, with modern styles being much simpler musically, that kind of bridge is seldom used and also can make a track feel retro. Now, changes from verse to chorus are sometimes imperceptible (without the vocal)...love your stuff by the way, great tutorials!

    • @MakePopMusic
      @MakePopMusic  3 роки тому +1

      I would definitely refer to the classic idea of a "bridge" as just a modern pre-chorus. I know a ton of songs that have 8-16 bars separating the verse to the chorus, and I have only seen them labeled as pre-chorus in the past 15 years. I have always considered the middle 8 a bridge, but either way, it's all semantics. I just want people to know how to add a different section to a song to keep listener's from tuning out 2 minutes in 😂

    Nice video, bridges aren't talked about a lot, but they are so important as they set up the last third of a song...I try to think about it as tying up the message of the lyrics in an expanded but related angle that either brings the energy up or down as you mentioned. I think one of the easiest ways to write a bridge is to stay in the same key and change up the chord progression to a higher or lower range and altering the rhythm pattern to an extent while putting more emphasis on the emotion of the vocal.
