I was actually searching UA-cam trying to find a way to get across the big lake behind my house. I thought the video said , "How To Build A Bridge," but this video was so good that I'm giving up on that idea and I'm spending the money on Cubase and a microphone... 😉 Awesome video Austin! 🙌🏻🔥
After producing / writing for a couple of years it gets more difficult to find high quality tutorials. Your videos are actually insanely good. Keep it up!
Traditionally a 'bridge' was a chord sequence to connect a verse to a chorus and what you're describing was referred to as a 'middle 8'...Now, with modern styles being much simpler musically, that kind of bridge is seldom used and also can make a track feel retro. Now, changes from verse to chorus are sometimes imperceptible (without the vocal)...love your stuff by the way, great tutorials!
I would definitely refer to the classic idea of a "bridge" as just a modern pre-chorus. I know a ton of songs that have 8-16 bars separating the verse to the chorus, and I have only seen them labeled as pre-chorus in the past 15 years. I have always considered the middle 8 a bridge, but either way, it's all semantics. I just want people to know how to add a different section to a song to keep listener's from tuning out 2 minutes in 😂
When songwriting I always have trouble when it comes to bridges cause I never know where to really go with it. Thank you so much for this. Very helpful
I love that you mention Lowborn in this! ❤️Their vocalist Wes fully produced my song Queen of Hearts! Lowborn is a great band, very funny and nice dudes! They’re always going live on Instagram, it’s worth checking out. Haha
Thank you for this amazing video ! So detailed, so clean. A crazy job u did there ! And I think we all can say you teach with passion and love and I literally took notes of this cause every second of it was interesting. ♥
Nice video, bridges aren't talked about a lot, but they are so important as they set up the last third of a song...I try to think about it as tying up the message of the lyrics in an expanded but related angle that either brings the energy up or down as you mentioned. I think one of the easiest ways to write a bridge is to stay in the same key and change up the chord progression to a higher or lower range and altering the rhythm pattern to an extent while putting more emphasis on the emotion of the vocal.
Hey Austin. I would like to know the specs on your music production computer for a reference, since Im looking to build a computer for myself. When you´re not filming videos (just music production), does your cpu start freezing, and at which point does that usually happen?
14:31 Definitely J-pop-esque, well mainly because the chord progressions are J-pop (IV V vi iii, IV V vi I), but also the piano arrangement does add to it
Dude thats brilliant! You're pretty understated in your breakdown which i appreciate but this is brilliant. How I get a hold of you to record my stuff? How much moneys??
Hey man, can you do some jon bellion remake I really love his sound and even his voice on how he mixes it just sounds so good and would love a tutorial
Next time would be great a simple Tutorial about a Pad Sound and Piano how to sound big like in THIS VIDEO (the Bridge). Would be greatful if you share how you did the instrumentation. Thanks a lot and kind regards....
Question: Is there a way to make a guitar solo similar to yours at 5:00, without using an actual guitar? I can't seem to find a VST that's good enough.
Do it when it's an intrinsic part of a specific sound rather than ambience e.g. making a pad where you take something like a violin patch and swamp it in reverb at 80% wet.
it would be cool if we get a tutorial to make pop in the style of Nicki Minaj (The night is still young, super bass), the sound is too polished and I know you can do it right! :D
Hi i wann buy one computer monitor so what refresh rate should i chose ? Does refresh rate really matter.?, i dont have a big budget suggest me any decent monitor
That could definitely work. I normally write prechoruses so I don't use a bridge as a verse to transition into a chorus often, but I definitely have before :D
@@MakePopMusic I would really like to work with you when you have time to chat. I have a few tracks I would like your professional opinion on and where I could take them to bring them up into todays sound. I'm in the Uk so maybe when you have five mutes we could zoom. Your fees are in budget so if you are interested lets chat Austin. RJ.
I’ve honestly noticed that the videos on here have such a weird and broken top end and they feel wayyy more saturated than the actual mix and bounce. Esses almost always sound pretty fucked up on the tutorial to be honest 😂
@@MakePopMusic Don't worry my mate, I didn't say it to criticize. I'm just a little overwhelmed with this saturation these days...it's going to be like a uniform. Sometimes you can't tell the performer's real voice on the radio. And all under the name "Clearness of the Loudness".

the dynamics are kinda similar to drivers license in a way - reaching the climax of the song then softening out. It gives me goosebumpsssss
It's amazing.... Specially the little dance you did. 😜
Shoutout to you for catching that lolol
bro your music is fucking good. you have it
You are an AMAZING producer! Someday I hope to be able to produce like you. RESPECT
Also... why aren't those songs HITS?!
Awesome! Was wondering how to build a bridge for one of my songs and now, I'm gonna apply what I learned from your video! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for doing this! I feel like I have the concept down but how to pick the right style is key! ❤️
your whole channel is the most inspiring channels about songwriting. i can not thank you enough Austin for helping us out!

omg you always come out with these tutorials at the PERFECT time
I really learn a lot from you , and the way you teach is so interactive and somehow, it has a lot of recollection vale! Thank you !

Taylor Swift is MASTERMIND at Bridges

We covered that for this song in the How to Make a Pop Ballad video I believe 😁
@@MakePopMusic ok thanks a lot. I will take a look.
Great video as always! What about a mastering video for pop music today? o/
Skillz!!
What audio interface and mic is good for beginners to record vocals??
😊😊
Great...!!! Can u please do a video about how to change chords in a song? It may be a part2 for this video
Like a keychange or how to just add different chords in the same key together?
@@MakePopMusic yep maybe chord changes in the pre chorus?

I have a question 🤔
when it is a good idea to insert the reverb instead of sending it?

must Bridge have a minor chord ?

Boooooooooom!
Day 10 of asking Austin to make a Hyperpop song like Sophie and Charli XCX.
Hahaha I’m trying to work on it. That’s definitely a genre I don’t have much experience in 😂
i've been waiting for this one too!!!
@@MakePopMusic yeah that's why I asked you. Because no one on youtube makes hyperpop content. But it is rising and I'm curious about it.

which part of your sample song is bridge?
🙌🏾
Basically a Bridge is a just way to transition
Hello ¿you can make a video explaining how to mix a reggaeton song like dance with me by Selena Gomez?
Dude you know what's up
If I'm making a pop song which bridge I should? Im a new song writer my name is Sarielys u can called me Sasha Jay
5:01 oof had to go check if that clipping in the solo was in the finished master and yep, still like that on Spotify. Not as noticeable though.
something new about lyrics bridge every artists justin bieber liam payne shawn mendes one direction demi lovato ellie goulding zendaya
Problem with bridges like that is that I tend to make them big then it takes the whole song into that LoL
That can be really great if it serves the song 😁
See i find when you are going into last chorus its more middle eight Bridge for me links verse to chorus..

So much saturation that almost the singer has problems pronouncing the letter "s" and sounds like a trumpet. otherwise good video.
