One of the rare times where I'm conflicted in that I want to wish for more hackers so I can watch more of this.
I mean a lot of people in Starcraft probably have mods (I’m one of them) but I’ve never used them in a lobby with another human and I think that’s the reason there’s not that many hackers in versus

i got half a mind to think this dude who was hacking is a winter fan, and just googled "Minimap DLC" and downloaded a Map Hack unknowingly...he just thinks everyone sees the whole minimap the whole time.
Call them cheaters. I doubt they can hack anything other than their own password.

Starstream _ eh, its not that big of a deal. an attack move is just pressing a before moving shit. so, i dont think thats fair enough evidence becasue medivacs exist. i always a move my anti air, unless im out on the map. weird habit.

At 1:14:30 he mules his main 2 times cause he knows that an attack is coming to his natural, I am a plat but as a Terran you always mule your expansion not your main.

Good vid man, just fyi I recall a common hacking trick was that it froze you're screen for the replay whenever you clicked your screen into the FOW. So if you're looking at your main and then look at their main, the replay will reflect your screen as just staying still to avoid suspicion. So the interesting part for me is that guy never actually looked into the FOW as a GM player, not even to set screen hotkeys.

Starcraft is very much a game where hacking can only get you so far without actual skill. And even then, playing matches for money or being pro wouldn't be possible unless they gave up on hacking. It only seems to appeal to people who want any edge they can in the game because they hate to lose that much.

They usually have production tab with everything else. They tend not to care too much about getting detected really and can't help themselves from using it all

I once left luke 10 lurkers in middle of the map somewhere, then I was macroing my drones not looking at them, then opponent started spawning hacker , and left...when I was watching replay he keep telling me something in french. Literally like 13 thors walked trough them without detection...:D He kept spawning me for like 2 days warning me that my BAN is coming...still playing :D

The thing about hacking in rts games like starcraft is, well, if you’re gold or platinum, those hacks WONT help you at all, you still need some skill.
You really need the mechanics to back it up, else you'll die

Benjamin Deh you would be VERY suprised. starcraft is very hard. mechanics might be simple, but take 10 of those and most players get overwhelmed.
Benjamin Deh With only pure brute force, you can get to something like plat1 or so, But, deciphering scouting is a skill that takes more than something like the 500 games i have played, (only about 100 ranked) and knowing how to react is also bot easy. If a maphacker’s gm level, he’s propably going to be high master1 if he’s not hacking. For lower leauges such as gold or platinum, its ALMOST the same if you got maphacks or not, people there have no idea how to react or even decipher any info from scouting. Around low diamond people can understand some stuff from scouting, however they cant react well enough or decipher enough info. High diamond-low master players arent bad players, they know what they’re doing and maphacks might move them up by like 300-400 mmr at most. Even with maphacks, a gm propably wouldnt be able to beat a pro since scouting isnt everything. These hacks could be compared to mediocre/weak speed hacks in shooter games, since theese hacks dont give you a advantage that makes you unbeatable. Its still mostly dependant on skill, however you do have an edge. Its like playing vs opponents who are 90% life and shields i think.

They might remember/know some things a noob wont, but thats about it.
Pro tip for maphackers: Actually send out an ob. Send out workers at random timings. It will be much more difficult to prove how you were able to know when you actually have vision of the map. Rather than lying and saying you were scouting when you clearly weren't.

I've never understood the point of cheating when there's nothing at stake. I mean... if there's some reward like money or something to be gained from winning, I can understand the motive. But, if you're just playing a game for fun or a sense of accomplishment... how do you justify thinking to yourself "I'm good at this game because I won" when you cheated.
To be honest, in the 2nd case its possible that the player temporarly turned off his cheats to not look *that* suspicious then turned them back on when he realized he was losing the 1st fight.
at beginning of the game I look at your starting location as well. this is to set a hot key for position. when sending scout out it is faster to just click it and press a couple buttons rather then manually clicking on minimap at that time

I know why one of the Terran never really scanned. If you scan, you alert your opponent, if you don't scan, they don't expect it. Pity. Scanning gives information to both players... If only there was something which allowed one player to know where their opponent was at all times... Without their opponent knowing?

There's probably a considerable amount but is a combination of the hackers just being bad anyways and giving up playing the game and people not realizing it because who looks at replays.

I had a terran do a 1 base BC all in and call me a map hacker. He didn't seem to notice my sentry halluc phoenix looking at everything in his base. So sad.
Hopefully in sc3 bliz learns to only send map/other player info to player if he can actually see it
Lol! Have ya played SC2? That's what they already do. The cheat either listens to the other users inbound packets or requests packets outbound. There is no such thing as a cheat free game but SC is pretty darn close.

The 2 scv pull to counter the 1 scv pull was my favorite. Sure, the 1 reaper/scv early pressure is a thing, but you NEVER send a worker scout and just blindly do that cuz "evergame". Fuck outta here.

I played against a Toss that had map hacks, it is fairly obvious when you watch the replay, he was Diamond and he was looking at my base the whole time... was looking at my third and stuff without any observers once like every 20 seconds, also he was looking at my army when I was moving it.
Funny thing tho is that he only manage to beat me once, the guy goes for pure cheese, air toss, DT's mass gate Zealot... the guy was really bad... Diamond with like 45 apm...

In my D3 games this happens a lot in TvT. I do it sometimes as well. You siege and the opponent has hard time entering his own main.
I'd try to drop closer to mineral line and on the move. But other than that the drop here looked OK. At least, in the beginning when Winter already called it stupid.
Of course, i understand it didn't have much of an impact in the end, the implementation sucked, but the idea was there.
Because if the other guys army was still outside his own base, he would have been base traded at best for doing that drop. You basically leave everything you own out in the open undefended and just have to hope the other guy isn't ten seconds from smashing your base, but if you have hacks you can do it while knowing exactly where the enemy army is and therefore risk a lot less.
Basically it's risk/reward but hacks make it less risky.
Even if you had vision of the reaper with say a pylon or even an obs it’s moving so fast that clicking to see it on the minimap is hard it can easily go through your vision before you have time to move your mouse to the minimap to react so you might see nothing. Which means he saw the reaper on the minimap and clicked ahead of it to see it coming (which you can see by where he clicks is exactly what happened) you could only click ahead of the reaper and get it at the top of your screens vision if you could see it moving on the map.
In a normal game your first response to something moving fast through vision at a normal reaper timing is to head that unit off with the stalkers like he did or split them 1 to the third, 1 to the main because he could go both ways you just don’t know. This guy puts both in the main.
In a normal game you never put your camera where you don’t have vision unless your issuing a command to a unit. Every time he looks at a blank screen there’s no command issued, it’s like he’s just looking as if he already had an Obs or other vision.
I’d have done a strike for the main look because he looks st his opponents main and goes hard into unit production even throwing down a robo after clearly seeing his opponents build then does nothing but make units. You’d never stop probes unless you’d scouted the Allin. What a terrible allin anyways he doesn’t need hacks to beat it just a sentry or adept scout.
Also I’m not saying it’s never done but people struggle to do camera locations for their own bases and since he’s not using camera hotkeys for his bases the idea he’s using it for his opponents isn’t plausible. What a hacker.

Game 2 I was thinking maybe he was soo bad that he kept looking at what he last seen to what to expect, and not knowing too much... Then I seen him look at the third and hit it with a dt squad without even so much of a scout. Still, since a lot of circumstance is there, maybe talking to people with games against him, collecting replays, and getting a better investigation might be proper.
makes me wonder why the hacker don't just implement a production tab overlay and a better minimap? That should eliminate all these obvious peeks in the fog?
Most people who hack (in my experience from csgo among other games) don't seem to realise how much of an advantage just knowing where the enemy is at all times gives you. Like, if I was omnipresent then sure, I'd probably beat 90% of players and only lose when my huge advantage doesn't make up for mechanical skill differences.

50:44 i'm actually going to disagree with that. So we can see when ever he wiped earlier the opponent was scanning them and ahead of thems as if to see where they were going to follow him. With that line of thought it would be kind of easy to assume the third or second base was going to be attacked. Sort of same with the final strike.

I thought this is already fixed by blizzard that any third party programs can be automatically detected.
The hacker at 01:02:00 clearly turned off his maphack once he thought he had won the game, then started struggling hard.
It would be an interesting series to see players at different MMR play Serral with maphacks. At what point would it even matter? Middle of GM? At what point does player control get good enough to deal with Serral's insane multitasking and macro even if you see everything he's doing?
Tegridy Farms im pretty sure maphacks helps with me making 90 drones at 7 minutes cause my opponents wont attack
