    Gerald Dolliver As an American I'm proud our allies can do something like this. No idea why everyone is so bitter, this is amazing it's going to be the fastest manned land vehicle.
    The more we push the limits the further humans go. This is the reason we aren't in a cave still, we push and never stop.
    This is so inspirational and the knowledge we will learn from building it is sure to be very useful. This isn't just an accomplishment for Britain it's one for human kind. Although let's not take away from what they have done absolutely amazing engineering from everyone involved and huge bravery from the pilot. I hope so much it goes well. Nothing great ever happened without risk and I'm glad someone is willing to do it. Great work.

I've met the man behind the programme - Richard Noble, he broke the previous land speed record in 1983 with Thrust II, only to break it again with Thrust SSC in 1997. There's no one more qualified to run the project than him.

      the atmosphere of mars is too thin. jet engines would be useless

    • @barny1109

      But the main thrust/power of this car comes from a hybrid rocket engine, which has its oxidiser already on board. the jet engine is just to take it up to (relatively) low speeds so presumably if this type of racing did happen in the future on mars they would use a different system to get it up to speed so the hybrid could kick in.

    There is a salt flat about 40 miles wide by 55 miles long (65 x 88 km) with no stones nor mud nor dust to damage the engines. Should be ideal for this sort of run, better than that 12-mile mudpan they talk about.
    And it's at 12000 ft altitude (3662m) so possibly better for high speeds too.
    It's near Uyuni, in Bolivia.

    Every joint of his body, as well as his head will have to be tethered to the car if it starts rolling. At that speed, his body would be ripped apart by the G-loading if it starts to roll. HANS devices will not be enough. They need to seriously think about that. Even if they are able to keep his body intact rolling at that speed, there's no way to protect his brain from being scrambled inside his skull. He's a special kind of superhero.

      Because it's only faster than sound in the end of the run. And it's CGI

    Great design team but I think they made first error in track selection, put that much of everything in car, you have to give it the best chance an wouldn't that be Bonneville?

    • @christopherdean1326
      @christopherdean1326 4 роки тому

      No. Bonneville is nowhere near long enough any more. I think I heard that they rarely get much more than 7 or 8 miles of usable salt these days, they need 12 or so to get Bloodhound up to speed.

    why all that protection? if the car crashes, then you die no matter what, theres no amount of protection, that can make you survive a crash at a 1000 mph

    • @MisterMajister

      I think the amount of science put into safety isn't to save the driver "in-case-of", but rather to prevent it from crashing at all.
