Jay's really good. Max is on a level beyond words. Almost certainly the best "meat & potatoes" drummer in rock. Open heart surgery, colon cancer, 66 years old...he shows up in a suit and doesn't break a sweat. Max is mighty indeed.

What an amazing moment to be on stage with your father, playing together, on the same instrument. Max is so smooth and classy. And the kid is wild, but still good in his own right. I think he is the perfect drummer for slipknot...now, 12 years later, as a slipknot member and two times ('19 &' 20) metal drummer of the year, nobody can hate him anymore... Joey Jordison (R.I.P.) was a legend on the drums with his own style, but Jay is a complete different person at the drums... A damn beast...

I was in a shitty mood when I clicked on this video and I was sitting here brooding but I couldn't help but be in a good mood listening to it.

Max’s part at 2:35 is just.. so beautiful to me for some reason- and I’m a metal drummer! I hate to say.. young Jay got schooled by his father lol

Don't forget Jay was only 19 here and he's 24 now. That difference is one fifth of his life and in that time, your drumming skills can improve massively. As Jay showed on Knotfest

It's cool to see father and son jam it out. I always enjoy watching Max rip it up, and it was really cool to see both of them use their own styles during the song.

First off, you should take it easy on Jay - Pops is legit. This is not a diss on jay(says more about Pops), but Max Weinberg can do anything that Jay can do (and a lot more) plus he has far superior tone across the board. Uber win for the old man. But how badass would that have been to get on stage with your father and do something like that?

I agree with everything you said except the double bass part. When used correctly and creatively, it can truly enhance a song.

Back story, he didn't hear aggressive music until 2001 ozzfest, slipknot invited max and his family, and jay said it changed his life forever (obviously)

Great camera angles letting you get a good look at Max, a real treat as his technique is so tight and formal (I don't know how he does it without sweating profusely in those suits)! His son Jay is almost completely opposite, his technique looks a bit like Animal from the Muppets. Good dueling drums from a very talented family, I wish Jay all the success in his musical Journey!

Indeed Jay is having a success. He is now the drummer for Slipknot
