Good point; I can picture exactly how it was probably done but it must have been a _lot_ of tedious repetitive work and extra expense for an effect most the audience probably didn’t really think much about or appreciate. I recently finished a project that needed me to create exactly this star-filter glitter effect only I had the benefit of being able to automate the process to run on it’s own at 60fps.
Also, as someone from Stuttgart, I love the detail of her (presumably) mare being white, as that was the staple of the king's mares. Stuttgart is, by the way, a shortened form of Stutengarten, mare garden. ... Also I just think she's cool.
I remember seeing this as a kid and I still wonder the chamberlain was so disappointed seeing what looks like Odette. He said “Well it’s not the milkman.” Like he got stood up by a date.
If I were Uberta, I would enroll Chamberlain in showbiz right away. He has talent! Or maybe work out a compromise with him. If he continues to do a good job at the castle, he can be a performer.

One thing I do appreciate is that the Queen and the “butler?” not for a single moment say it’s Odette as they are very familiar with her. It’s only Derek that was fooled.
The only thing the guy could think of when he decided he actually loved her- *to the real Odette* was that she was beautiful. So she looks as beautiful as Odette, but just different enough not to match.
I think this was more due to them believing Odette had died during the attack or was taken away, cause if i'm remembering right only Derek found out she was a swan and didn't have the brains to tell everyone what he discovered. so yeah it's still all on Derek for being fooled since he's the only one who knew Odette was captured AND the spell that was placed on her lol
I love the mother in this: Prince Derek: But please, mother, don't turn it into one of your beauty pageants. Queen Uberta: Oh. No, no, no, no, no. It's just a few friends... [She waits until Derek is out of earshot] Queen Uberta: and their daughters.
I originally saw this movie back before 1995 it is and has always been one of if not my favorite musical numbers in any form of media to date, also can we just appreciate that Prince Derek is a scared little lamb in the musical number while Chamberlain, is simply oozing charm charisma and stage presence. Man is a king in his own right lord Rodgers may be the court composer but Chamberlain is the absolute shining star
I would think that all the studios created by disgruntled former Disney employees would have a dig at their former boss one way or another, this one included.
Yes, now everyone thinks of DreamWorks, especially "Shrek", as the quintaessential example of another studio mocking Disney for being so old-fashioned, but in fact it was something that almost every other studio did, in one way or another.

I haven’t seen this movie in over 25 years and decided to watch it again. Oh the memories! I forgot about this scene! They really did work so hard on making it look great. It took 2 years to animate.
I would have loved to seen a plot twist where Odette see’s this Tom foolery and so angry that her man couldn’t tell he was dancing with a fake and would just fly off and go live the swan life 🤣
I rewrote part of this movie. I brought back Odel and it's her at the ball not the hag. Odel is also actually under her Fathers magic control because she has better suited for the Forbidden Arts but could make them good. He didn't like that so he stole control by taking over her mind. She doesn't come off as that at first but Odette noticed this when a swan as Odel's eyes change color. In the end she is forgiven much like the Hag and becomes best friends with Odette.
A great number, but some of the subtitles are wrong. It's "unmatched," not "are matched"; it's "Frangistan" (Persian word for Western Europe) or possibly "Franistan" (referring to an "I Love Lucy" episode), not "Harristan" (no such place). And it's "Just the thought that Crown Prince Derek'll make his choice has me hysterical"; the other way doesn't make sense. The timing's off, too.
Gosh damn is fucking Amnesia a thing in this movie. Senile old bat can't remember a girl who grew up with her son Eric that Dementia really has set the fuck in. How she made it so long with her Reign is a wonder as the power of that dress hides even more then just the true identity of the women within.

As an adult I now know how much hard work and dedication it took to make the dresses sparkle on the dancers. It's extremely impressive and well done.

Love Brunhildes outfit . Well armored and tough yet somewhat elegant . The chain mail for her lower dress is real cool

The design was so lovely, definitely my favorite of the princesses presented. The animators put SO MUCH work into the design.
I wonder if perhaps she is a cyborg since apparently her nose AND MAKEUP are PLATED
Makes me wonder what other modifications there could be…

So much nostalgia from this sing, absolutely love the choreography and the shock at seeing "Odette"

You gotta admit, this was an interesting way to adapt the Black Swan from the ballet

Lord Rodgers is the court composer just for clarification
Sebastian was the better court composer. He was more fun-loving, yet still responsible and knew when to be serious.

Oh wow, a That's not my Neighbor with princesses would be wild !
Ohh, this movie is the Swan Princess, I watched this at my aunts house as a kid.
This movie is so criminally underrated and all because one part of the beginning was taken way too far out of proportion or context.
Animation from that time still holds up today compare to what we are getting today.
And this was a smaller studio, no less

Can we have a movie about Brunhilde of Stuttgart, please?
Honestly, with the internet being what it is... I'm surprised she's not at least a more common cosplay for her uniqueness.
Derek is wondering if he should be concerned
The answer is yes. Very.
Best part, still makes his own choice.

Idk I was the little boy wanting to take Chamberlain's part such charisma such stage presence
Disappointed, I clicked on this thinking it would have the tune of elephants on parade
We really need to go back to hand drawn animation. No digital art.
I mean digital art can be done by hand.
