I looked at the converters and while optical and relatively simple to attach for the x100s the setting for lens correction software is manual whereas the later model cameras are automatically set. I settled for sneaker zoom (moving to get closer) where possible and cropping if needed just to keep the setup simple. And while it is great to have range of the converters I was happy to learn to live with the limitation and there is a sense of freedom. Hard to explain and I just honestly love the camera or style of camera. My Canon 5d and others are mainly sitting on a shelf thanks to this. Not saying it is better but it is more fun for me to use.
Well, the limitations are part of what makes the X100's so fun and while I do like the conversion lenses I don't think they are a "must have" for x100 owners. If you do however get bored of your X100S, those conversion lenses might just make enough of a difference to make you pick up your camera again. Aside from that, I also currently use the stock 23mm lens for >90% of my shots. After using it for so long, the 35mm equiv just feels like second nature. Thanks for sharing! :)
Great evaluation. I have both the TCL and WCL for my X100F. The TCL is great for portraits and pano stitching. WCL I use more because great for indoors. Sometimes I keep it on all day.
Agreed! The WCL makes the X100 even more versatile in my opinion and the TCL really helps with that classic portrait look. Great little conversion lenses
Having a DSLR that I rarely use, Ive been thinking of downsizing and getting something more compact. At first I thuoght the x-t4 would be good, but in the end that would barely be smaller than my current DSLR and cost a lot of money. The x100V thuogh looks like a good option for walk around and could probably do most things I currently use the DSLR for. Now I have to decide whether I want to get this and use the DSLR less, maybe even sell it, or just buy a new lens for the DSLR. I mainly do landscape, travel and portrait shots, so with the TCL, the x100v could take over most work the DSLR does currently, with a little bit of creativity maybe even all. Info on the TCL and WCL is hard to come by though, so thank you for this video!
Good luck finding the X100V for retail price though. I've been eyeing it myself but decided to wait for the successor which would hopefully be released next year. Also consider the Fuji X-E4 or the X-S10 as they are available for much cheaper and have the same IQ as the X100V. The X100V does have a few technical gizmos that make me wanna have it over the others though.
Great Videos Tobis, keep them coming. I'm really struggling as a novice (the X100V is my first DIGITAL camera!). How do I set it up with my MacBook Pro 2019. I don't know how to get the RAW files downloaded there is not much out there... ChrisR
I use a USB-C dongle by Anker with an intergrated SD-Card reader. That's probably easiest way to go. I never hooked up my X100V directly to my MacBook Pro, not sure if that would work. Hope that helps, good luck Christopher!
Somehow the 'bokey = life' was way funnier thanks to your thicc german accent :-) Thanks for the review!! I'm very curious how the camera carries with that Thing attached to it. Probably gonna buy it second hand.
What strap do you use for your camera? I’ve hunted around your descriptions and can’t seem to find it! Absolutely gorgeous and I’d love to pick one up.
Its made by Sören Richter from harness leather and you can buy them at manufactum(dot)com ... I am not affiliated with them in any way, but its a great piece of kit. Not exactly cheap for a camera strap though, but hey, its harness leather and well made. Worth the price imo and will probably last much longer than most of my cameras. Hope that helps!
Check earlier vids on this channel but I believe it is an Ona Bowery. Great bag - I know few people who own one. I would love to own one myself but I have far too many camera bags already.
Can be used for portraits and the distortion is not to bad (imo). Not for a professional setting though. Also, me personally, I do like to have a bit more bokeh and even with the adapter this doesn't get anywhere near the same amount of background blur as a native f/1.4 lens.
I have a question. Can you screw these WCL and TCL on other fuji lenses if they have the same filter size ? Like the wide-angle lens adapters available from third parties in the market for interchangeable lenses.
Enjoyable and two stereotypes countered re being German and a lawyer....from a Brit🙄Nice dry wit as ever. Always a bit different with your reviews and products👍
It seems like nobody’s talking about the fact that this lens will make the perfect built in flash unusable. Thought I should mentioned that.
Well, for me it wouldn't be a problem because I will never us a flash.

Dont forget, you can use your digital zoom with both converters :)
I wish you have added some comment about the viewfinder and how it works with both the XCL add on

What camera strap is this? Looks great!
Nice work. Clearly explained.
Ugh. Once I saw that beer, my brain switched modes from optics to Spaten-Franziskaner. I'll have to watch this again.
haha, I feel you! That Spaten-Franziskaner reference reminded me that I should go back to munich soon :D
bokeh = life 🤣 thanks for that 👍😄
Exactly right! Also being reflected in the price tag: F/1.4 = 1.5x $$ of F/2.0, 1. F/1.0 = 1.5x $$ of F1.4. Better bokeh, more $$
Very good info. Thank you

What recipee are you using for those photos? I liked how the greens and other colors came out
Does the conversion lens weather seal the camera or do you still need to find an adaptor to weatherproof the camera?
it screws on in the same place where the adapter screws on, thus protecting the moving lens element, so I'd say it acts as a weather seal.
@@dsego84 I wish there was a rubber washer between metal threads.

Just learned to buy the strap at the homepage of Bosse&Richter. More sizes, even cheaper than at manufactum. Greetings

@@sng2225 ahh thank you I will def chk it out I just got a Fuji and it be real cozy in that bag :)
Probably either the Ona Bowery or (latest acquisition) the Billingham Small hadley pro. Thanks for stopping by ;)
Is it suitable for portrait, or is it magnifying everything, distortions too?

no.
I think if you move closer with the stock lens you will get the same creamt bokeh
What camera strap is that?
That makes the lens way too big
