A lot of people don't realise that Oil Filter Housing gasket changes have led to rod bearing failures on BMW's N55 motors. This is part of the reason BMW released the following TSB in 2015: SIB 11 09 15.
I find the BMW N55 motors to be excellent. But you have to be smart and knowledgable when you service them!

How often are you swapping out an engine or doing an engine reassembly though

Oil pump, oil cooler or oil filter housing gaskets are fairly common jobs. A lot of long term bmw owners might have to do their oil filter housing gasket 2-3 times over the course of ownership.
