Proraso green is a fine soap or cream, that's how I started off my wet shaving and still use it every once in awhile today. Good shave, see you next time.
Lol! Thanks. This was very early on when I had just started Wet shaving and I don't think my technique or skin was quite ready for a razor as aggressive as the Fatip. It's a lot better now although I think it still is quite an aggressive razor. Cheers. Kevy 😀
I'm a Boston Celtic fan Kevy, since I'm from Worcester which is about 20mins outside of Boston! Also, the Fatip Grande and Piccolo are two of my favorite razors. I actually prefer the Piccolo because of the handle but YMMV. Really enjoying your videos. I've almost watched them all now!

Hi Kevy, I have a Fatip Piccolo - you're right; the handle is solid and the razor is heavier than the Grande. The Fatip head doesn't feel so aggressive at first and can lull you into a false sense of security. The first few times I've used it, it always gave me weepers and sensitive areas. I just realized I wasn't respecting the aggressiveness of this razor. Once I realized my error and started to lighten up and be more limp wrested with it, I found it gave me the closest shaves. I now use the Fatip as my special occasion razor.
It is an aggressive razor. It looks very mild but it can bite! I really like it and it always gives me a great shave too. It's good that you keep it for special occasions. Cheers. Kevy :)

You are correct about the Piccolo, Kenny. Not only is the handle solid, but it's considerably shorter; thus "piccolo." If I were to win the lottery probably order a Mastro Livi razor. Just to say I have one (since I don't straight razor shave). What a vicious animal that Riley B King has become! He made short work of that trespassing toilet roll, and he threatened that bottle too. A fine watchdog for the Kenny estate. An icy shave when it's frosty out. Well done!

I don't straight razor shave either and I would use it to chop onions and peel potatoes. Riley has developed a sharp tooth vibrato that would impress the finest Bluesman. However he doesn't have the feel for Blues yet and as he showed with the toilet roll, he is still a bit of a shredder! great shave Kevy, I just got some proraso red and green so my next shave is gonna be the green and I think I got a packet of those blades in my starter pack. I never shaved daily before as my skin is really sensitive and think i need to wait a day extra before wet shaving as my skin can get really irritated; like most new things I was keen to try them and shaved every two days or so for the past two weeks and its not for me. Luckily in my line of work having a few days growth is acceptable. The best shave I had was having 3 or 4 days growth and thats what I intend to do from now on., but I really want to use my new products,blades etc but need to be patient. And as a Glasgow Celtic Fan myself i liked your colour choice today. Really enjoyed the video Steven
Steven Kelly Cheers Steven. Good idea to leave it a few days between shaves especially if you're just new to it. There's nothing worse than getting irritation and I'm exactly the same as you. If I shaved every day, my skin couldn't handle it and it would get uncomfortable. I always get the most comfortable shave after a few days growth on my face. The Polsilver blades are brilliant. Another Great video Kevy. I think Proraso is underrated. All of the Proraso's are great. My only complaint is the post shave (especially with the green) lacks, but they lather awesome. I agree, Proraso is underrated. I've only tried the green and white varieties thus far, and I like them both, but I think I slightly prefer the white variety. Wet shavers seem to lose interest in Proraso after discovering the holy grail that is artisan soap. I, however, will always enjoy Proraso for what it is. A low cost classic.
You're right Chris, the Proraso is fantastic during the shave but there's not much to say about its post shave qualities. Everything you see me using on video are the things I use. Because of the cold Scottish winter climate, I apply a balm or moisturiser in the morning and in the evening and most days I use witch hazel or the Boots tea tree & witch hazel once a day on my face. ***** The performance of the white I think is slightly better than the green but I prefer the green's smell compared to white and it has more menthol. The best performance though in the Proraso's is the Red (Sandalwood). It has shea butter and it performs much better than green and white. Next for performance is the Blue, comes in a tube of cream.

I'd get an Above the Tie Atlas or Kronos H2. I'm fond of open combs, efficient razors, and I don't currently own any stainless steel razors. I'd also buy enough shave soap to last me the rest of my life. Also, I tried rubbing the remaining lather into my skin following tonight's shave because I have a sample from KShaveWorx that I really like (Beachwood Forest), and man was that enjoyable. You really get to enjoy the soap's scent.

Hi Mate, I've just started DE shaving maybe 2.5 months ago. I do have Proraso Green which was my first purchase with a Smogue 620 brush and wuhle long handle. Pre shave Proraso Green is potent and certainly gets your attention in the morning and I love the aftershave. I would buy a Rockwell 6S if I won the lottey.
Kevy Shaves love the shaving. I think it actually makes your skin look younger and healthier. Don't know why it took me 25+ years to try it. Now I'm hooked. Love the vids by the way.
You gotta have a go with the Gillette Platinum blades and Rapira Platinum Lux. Those are tops of the blades I've tried. I'm going to try the Kai and Rapira Stainless this week to see how those fair.

Mrs. Kevy has wanted to get a dog for years but I was always been against it but I get what I want so I thought it was only fair that I should do the same for her, and I must say it's tiring looking after him but he really is a brilliant addition and I'm so glad I have him in my life. Hey Kevy, I've got the Fatip Testina Gentile which is supposed to be milder than the Grande. I yet to get a shave with no weepers , cuts or irritation, no matter how careful I try to be. Not surprised that you had some weepers with the Grande which is said to be more aggressive.
I love my Fatip razors, but they can be unforgiving until you dial in your technique. I'm especially fond of my Grande because it's efficient but you don't feel a ton of raw blade on your skin when you shave with it.
Check out The Suffolk Shaver on UA-cam. He shaves with a Fatip Testina Gentile. You might pick up some tips for using it. I really enjoyed this shave with the Grande. Kevy.

Kevy Shaves I imagine Riley's technique would be great, and he'd love my bathroom, loads of bottles of Sanex lying around to woof at 😌👏 Great advice Kevy, I have 4 DEs, 2 modern and 2 vintage, they all get used but I prefer modern razors to vintage razors, and short handles to long ones. As I've said before the shavettes have helped my technique, in the same way as mixing your razors has helped you. Of course I'm not going to bleat on about skin stretching 😂 I rinse in between passes like you, and also keep my face wet, but we like similar styles of lather, so it makes sense. 😌
Dave C if you like short handles you'll like the Piccolo, it has a bit of weight to it & if you go lightly with a blade that suits you you'll be happy with it, Perma-sharp is my match 👍

Michael Thomas Yes, the Piccolo has a solid handle and someone else commented on this video saying it has a shorter handle than the Grande. It's a good shaver and it's not that expensive. Kevy 👍
Get the Piccolo if hollow handles bother you, get the Grande if thin handles bother you. If you're not sure which to get, you can't go wrong with either.
I'm not really new I have been traditional wet Shaving for two years now. I use a 1973 black handle super speed as my daily razor and I love razor rock classic shave soap

Riley is as cute as a button. It's probably a treat just to look at him all day long! I just heard you state that there's no right or wrong way regarding rinsing between passes. Paragraph 5, sub article 2 of the WSRA (World Shaving Rules Association) specifically states that DE shavers must rinse between passes. Drying or patting the face with a towel is optional. As far as the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe is concerned, I commented on similar ingredients that Paul uses when he applies anything other than Nivea AS balm. You're using alot of chemicals that can clog the pores rather than clear them. Dimethicone, triethanolamine and parabens aren't that great for the skin. It's one thing if they're in shaving cream because you're rinsing it off, but the moisturizer you're leaving on. I'm not even sure it's beneficial to let petroleum sink into the skin. There's some nice ingredients in there but they throw in the other stuff. I imagine it would be good for the face in very cold weather to prevent dry skin, but I wouldn't overdo it. When there is a product as good and cheap as Nivea Sensitive Cooling AS balm, why use anything else?
Shave- a-thon He is a little cutie! I think that rule was passed late Friday night after this video was made. I'd heard the committee were sitting and debating this rule. Paul H is likely to face a 12 month ban! Lol! The Vaseline is good in cold weather and believe me, the weather here in Scotland is very cold in the winter. I don't use it all the time and as I mentioned in the video it was the only green container I had to hand that was moisturising product. Do you shave your heels then? 😉 The Nivea balms are great as is the Nivea men cream.
A video with proposed shaving rules would be very funny. Paul always says the great thing about shaving is anything goes and you can make it up as you go along, but you can create a shaving rules playbook. For example, if you keep a mustache or a goatee, that doesn't count as an official UA-cam video shave. If you don't perform an XTG pass on the neck, a penalty will be imposed and any Youube fees received for viewers 1,000 to 2,000 must be submitted to the WSRA (World Shaving Rules Association - Kevy Shaves, President)..
I think you use about 4x more pre-shave cream than I do. No wonder your bottle only lasted a year! I wet my face and I put a bit on the fingertip and find that to be enough, especially with the green menthol pre-shave which I like the skin to absorb for a few minutes before shaving. In regard to your lottery question, I would just buy every single current stainless steel DE razor that's manufactured, and possibly travel around the world to buy all the products not available in the USA. I couldn't limit myself to one product. The lotteries here reach $400 million. You probably wind up with $150 million If you take it in one lump sum less taxes. If you 50% of that into tax exempt securities, you would still have a hard time spending the interest and dividends each year, let alone the principal! I think that if any of the UA-cam shaving superstars such as yourself won the lottery, that a goal should be to post shaving videos from the bathrooms of the top hotels and resorts in the world, if not from the pools surrounded by bathing beauties!

Hi Mate, I've just started DE shaving maybe 2.5 months ago. I do have Proraso Green which was my first purchase with a Smogue 620 brush and wuhle long handle. Pre shave Proraso Green is potent and certainly gets your attention in the morning and I love the aftershave. I would buy a Rockwell 6S if I won the lottey.

Mrs. Kevy has wanted to get a dog for years but I was always been against it but I get what I want so I thought it was only fair that I should do the same for her, and I must say it's tiring looking after him but he really is a brilliant addition and I'm so glad I have him in my life. Hey Kevy, I've got the Fatip Testina Gentile which is supposed to be milder than the Grande. I yet to get a shave with no weepers , cuts or irritation, no matter how careful I try to be. Not surprised that you had some weepers with the Grande which is said to be more aggressive.
I love my Fatip razors, but they can be unforgiving until you dial in your technique. I'm especially fond of my Grande because it's efficient but you don't feel a ton of raw blade on your skin when you shave with it.
Check out The Suffolk Shaver on UA-cam. He shaves with a Fatip Testina Gentile. You might pick up some tips for using it. I really enjoyed this shave with the Grande. Kevy.

I do like the look of those Fatip razors, the only think that stops me getting one is my habit of just picking up my favourite razor without thinking about it, and having it stick in a drawer. Have you tried the Piccolo, and if so how would you compare them?

The Fatips are great but they can bite too. I've only tried this one so can't compare. The snow will be here soon. I'm dreading it, Riley isn't!

Great advice Kevy, I have 4 DEs, 2 modern and 2 vintage, they all get used but I prefer modern razors to vintage razors, and short handles to long ones. As I've said before the shavettes have helped my technique, in the same way as mixing your razors has helped you. Of course I'm not going to bleat on about skin stretching 😂 I rinse in between passes like you, and also keep my face wet, but we like similar styles of lather, so it makes sense. 😌
Dave C if you like short handles you'll like the Piccolo, it has a bit of weight to it & if you go lightly with a blade that suits you you'll be happy with it, Perma-sharp is my match 👍

Michael Thomas Yes, the Piccolo has a solid handle and someone else commented on this video saying it has a shorter handle than the Grande. It's a good shaver and it's not that expensive. Kevy 👍

Get the Piccolo if hollow handles bother you, get the Grande if thin handles bother you. If you're not sure which to get, you can't go wrong with either.
I'm not really new I have been traditional wet Shaving for two years now. I use a 1973 black handle super speed as my daily razor and I love razor rock classic shave soap

I just heard you state that there's no right or wrong way regarding rinsing between passes. Paragraph 5, sub article 2 of the WSRA (World Shaving Rules Association) specifically states that DE shavers must rinse between passes. Drying or patting the face with a towel is optional.
As far as the Vaseline Intensive Care Aloe Soothe is concerned, I commented on similar ingredients that Paul uses when he applies anything other than Nivea AS balm. You're using alot of chemicals that can clog the pores rather than clear them. Dimethicone, triethanolamine and parabens aren't that great for the skin. It's one thing if they're in shaving cream because you're rinsing it off, but the moisturizer you're leaving on. I'm not even sure it's beneficial to let petroleum sink into the skin.

I use their product for cracked skin on my heels. I imagine it would be good for the face in very cold weather to prevent dry skin, but I wouldn't overdo it. When there is a product as good and cheap as Nivea Sensitive Cooling AS balm, why use anything else?
Shave- a-thon He is a little cutie! I think that rule was passed late Friday night after this video was made. I'd heard the committee were sitting and debating this rule. Paul H is likely to face a 12 month ban! Lol! The Vaseline is good in cold weather and believe me, the weather here in Scotland is very cold in the winter. I don't use it all the time and as I mentioned in the video it was the only green container I had to hand that was moisturising product. Do you shave your heels then? 😉 The Nivea balms are great as is the Nivea men cream.
A video with proposed shaving rules would be very funny. Paul always says the great thing about shaving is anything goes and you can make it up as you go along, but you can create a shaving rules playbook. For example, if you keep a mustache or a goatee, that doesn't count as an official UA-cam video shave. If you don't perform an XTG pass on the neck, a penalty will be imposed and any Youube fees received for viewers 1,000 to 2,000 must be submitted to the WSRA (World Shaving Rules Association - Kevy Shaves, President)..

I think you use about 4x more pre-shave cream than I do. No wonder your bottle only lasted a year! I wet my face and I put a bit on the fingertip and find that to be enough, especially with the green menthol pre-shave which I like the skin to absorb for a few minutes before shaving. In regard to your lottery question, I would just buy every single current stainless steel DE razor that's manufactured, and possibly travel around the world to buy all the products not available in the USA. I couldn't limit myself to one product. The lotteries here reach $400 million. You probably wind up with $150 million If you take it in one lump sum less taxes. If you 50% of that into tax exempt securities, you would still have a hard time spending the interest and dividends each year, let alone the principal!
I think that if any of the UA-cam shaving superstars such as yourself won the lottery, that a goal should be to post shaving videos from the bathrooms of the top hotels and resorts in the world, if not from the pools surrounded by bathing beauties!

If I won enough, I would travel the world shaving in the top hotels and at the end of each of my shave video, there would be a raffle with the winner getting a brush, razor, soap, blades, balm, aftershave or cologne, basically whatever they wanted for a complete shave and I would deliver it to them and shake their hand and hang out with them for a while and talk shaving!
