@curttuundra INCORRECT!!! Some clocks can be damaged turning the minute hand counterclockwise! Depends on brand and model. EVERYONE should do something most never think about: READ THE MANUAL and SET-UP paperwork!! Then store these documents in a safe place. Mine are inside the clock, at the bottom of the front door opening
Yes and normally you don't want to move the minute hand clockwise, this can and will damage the movement over time. Not sure why he moved it clockwise. Don't ever move the hour hand , it will move in relation to the minute hand.
You are incorrect. It's actually better to go counter clockwise because it's not necessary to stop and let it chime evey 15 minutes like going clockwise. At least that is true on the several gfc I've worked on including this exact model.
Awful video. You wasted our time showing the clock face 900 times and slow multiple tours of you touching the hands and looking at the guts. Next video, be a friend and get to the point. You could have adjusted the weights for instance instead of just talking about something everybody knows. Thanks for nothing👍🏽great job
Thank you for this. I just purchased my first grandfather clock. I didn't know how to set it.
Thanks. I did this for my 85 year old grandfather that is sick
I like how the strike chord is semi-irrelevant to the key the chimes are played in, but yet it's still not the annoying overused howard miller sound.
Sort of how Big Ben is maintained. Just bigger weights
My new-to-me handed-down Howard Miller says turn it counter clockwise..
Yes that's the correct way to wind any mechanical watch/clock movement. Not sure why he moved clockwise.
Never move the minute hand counterclockwise, it could hurt the clock movement.
@@jsnxbskscnskcnskcjbzjzjbvd so just don’t listen to the actual manual that came with the clock huh?

Looks to be an emperor 110 series
It is, with a Jauch 77 movement
Emperor is/was a great company. My grandfather bought several of these in kit form around 1970. I wonder if they are still around, will ask Google.
@@mark5862speaking of which, im being offered a free emperor grandmother clock like this from an antique store
Can the minute hand be moved counter clockwise to adjust back in time?

It has to be an Emperor clock
Everyone you have to move it clockwise not counter clockwise that breaks the movement and then you need to buy a new movement

@@mark5862 nah you just put it on silent and then turn the minute hand clockwise.
READ THE FRIGGIN MANUAL AND SET-UP & INSTALL PAPERWORK!! NOBODY knows as much about your clock as the manufacturer does!!!!!
doesn't really show me anything!
Nice…but it doesn’t show me anything
What do you want him to show your?
How to set to CURRENT time !
literally move the minute hand to the current time it’s not that hard and should be common sense..
That did not explain NOTHING
