I want to say thank you!! I was doing shims on my CB500X and two of the shims went flying. I found one and not the other. I was unsure how to pull this side case off and so this video was extremely helpful. I still did not find the shim but this pretty much convinced me it is not in the engine as this was the only side it could be on. I always make a donation to charity when a video helps me save money, so I will be doing that once again. Thanks again Doug. Canada
I just replaced mine, i managed to do it with a small bits ratchet and I used no torque, Honda workshop told me I'd be fine to handtighten it. Thanks for the video!
Thanks so much for the vid. I just picked up a '23 model. First day out and dropped it. Left a nice little scuff on the crank case. For now I'll wear it with pride but when I do my first oil change I'll replace this at the same time. Cheers, mate!
Hello from Germany, i bought last week a 2021 Model CB650R with only 4800 Kilometer or 2980 Miles on it. The First Owner droped the bike in his Garage on the right Side. Same little ugly Scratches on the right Crankcase Cover and Cap. I ordered this week the new Spare Parts from Thailand Parts No's: Crankcase Cover 11330-MKY-T10 and Cap Cover 11332-MGZ-J00 and O-Ring Sealing 91301-ML7-003. Round about 150 Euros including Shipping Cost. In Germany these parts will Cost a lot more , Crankcase Cover 11330-MKY-D10 ( part with No needle bearings for the clutch lifter arm) € 294,- an the Cap Cover € 28,- . Over 300 Bucks plus shipping Cost. More than Double the Price from Thailand including Shipping Cost to Germany. Thanks a lot for the Tutorial 👍, i fix it in coming Spring together with an Oil Change when the weather in Germany is more Bike friendly😉
Thank you so much! I've bought a brand new Z900 about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I dropped it last week. After watching your video, I gain more confidence of replacing its crankcase by myself.
Just take care to get the right advice (torque settings, workshop manual instructions etc) for your particular bike before starting on this job. You don't want things coming loose or breaking off inside the crankcase! Good luck
Donald I know what you mean. I have the Honda CBR650R which is that bike with the fairing and I had yours but the wind blast was too much and so I traded it for the R and the fairing helps so much with the wind, anyway I accidentally tipped the bike over (Thank you R&G Sliders) and got a little scuffing on the exact same spot as you have. Cheers. Mike.
Brilliant video donald big thumbs up from the uk, i plan on getting a black case for mine as i have fallen in love with the black edition version of the 650, definitely be reverting back to your vid when its time 👍 happy riding
Yes, that would have been an easy 90% fix, I agree, but there was some wee scratches on the crankcase also and replacement cost was remarkably low, so I did that too
Any additional tips to insert the clutch knob from the engine side to the case, I am trying for 2 days to get the cover on. It's just not going in. When it does, the clutch lever is on the wrong angle and will not rotate towards the cable like you did at 17.50
Appreciate the time in making this. I've currently got a small oil leak in the rocker cover gasket, is it a similar process to replace? would you recommend doing the rocker cover by yourself or a bike mechanic?
It's impossible to answer that question. It all depends on your mechanical skills and proficiency - if you're not mechanically inclined, then best leave it to a mechanic. But if you have the skills, tools and the right information, then its probably not a difficult job
Hey, thanks for the video. I plan to buy this model for city commuting purpose. Are you still planning to make a review of it as a commuter? Thanks in advance.

Hey man i have the same sort of scratch on the left side. Is it any different to replace it or is it easier or harder? Thank you
I suspect the process will be similar. Maybe simpler - no clutch cable to detach?

Are the tanks one whole piece, or is it covered by a "plastic" casing which is painted?
