Worked for me man
It did not work help me out if possible. It shows that no usable free extent could be found. It may be that thre is insufficient free space to create partition at the specified size and offset. Asking to specify different size and offset values
Thank you!!! you fixed my USB
I installed ventoy in my Android phone and format my pendrive and it's working
Literally tried everything but my sd refused to format. This is the ONLY solution that worked. Thanks mate
Even if it's already 4 yrs the best flash drive fix i've seen so far, my flash drive just fixed. Thank you!!
Good video. Well done... I've been at computing for 27 years and I'm still learning every day. Thanks, Bob.
No one knows everything, we all learn from each other every day.
4:24 after create partition primary this error comes up
DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
See the System Event Log for more information.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Videos like these make me want to know more about programming and how to work computers better because sometimes there aren’t gems like this one out there!

Same issue as well... @@jonnathanwebber5604
Even after 4 year of posting this video, it still save lifes. Thank you so much!!
Just saying, 2024 tried to download kali linux on a usb drive, got frustrated and unplugged the usb on accident, and this exact problem happened. I looked around for 2 and a half hours for the solution to this problem, and this man just gave the most simple and concise answer to my problem. THANKS.
Wow a simple tutorial that actually works. I have watched about 10 videos and have been all over various forums trying to find this very process. Thank you. Cheers.
I literally just bought a 128gb usb today and corrupted it. Fixed it in 30 seconds watching your video; Thanks so much for your help!
Why didn't I watch this video first? I wasted hours today trying to fix a brand new micro SD card I had messed up. I was literally going to toss it when I did one last search for a solution and this video popped up. Had the thing fixed in minutes after following the instructions. 👍
tried so many videos on how to restore the usb and literally been trying for about 2hours and this video got it done in 5 mins thanks mate really helpful and easy to understand
Thank you!! At 2:40 my USB was back in action. My USB was working fine until I formatted it through command prompt with select disk and clean. The information you provided solved a potential disaster lol.
really thanks bro you saved my pen drive
👍👍 keep it up
you have the power to became a popular and big youtuber
No usable free extent could be found. It may be that there is insufficient
free space to create a partition at the specified size and offset. Specify
different size and offset values or don't specify either to create the
maximum sized partition. It may be that the disk is partitioned using the MBR disk
partitioning format and the disk contains either 4 primary partitions, (no
more partitions may be created), or 3 primary partitions and one extended
partition, (only logical drives may be created)
any idea ?
Same, this sucks because I know all the files are on there still, because I can scan them for viruses, but I can't open anything or even access it :(
Thanks alot, it just took me 2 minutes to get everything right, just by following your steps in this video, you got a new subscriber for this...🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much, still works like a charm!
Thank you very much! For some reason my flash drive (actually the exact same in terms of capacity 128GB) for some reason was coming up as 32GB capacity after setting it up with Windows 11, and the rest ~80GB were only visible in Disk Management as Unallocated space. I deleted that partition then formatted the flash drive, so that it's whole capacity would be available, but I encountered the behavior/issue explained in your video. Following you instructions sorted everything out. Thanks again!
Brother, thanks you so much. You saved my day with your tutorial. I succeeded in getting my usb disk back.
4 years on and saved lots of frustration today - so helpful and many many thanks
This works, thank you!!! just a quick note though when I closed out the command prompt part, it still showed the wrong capacity, so what I did was I ejected the flash drive and reinstalled it prompting me to format the drive which showed the correct size.
I have thrown away few flash drives with these problem. After watching your video I am able to fix it in future. Thank you
Glad I could help
oh i remember why this happen now
my younger sister make it fall bruh
Amazing tutorial, it helped me out greatly. Thank you so much.
You make it look easy, and it was, when you know what you doing.....thank you
Thanks, for sharing, Mate. With some doubt for my choice of drives (in this case), the Command fix was passed up this time; but, I know it is possible having walked that path before. With my two major brand 128GB USBs presenting figures of zero for storage and availability, your Disk Management method made this weary of three days of research old dude (who has been kicking MS since Windows 3.1) extremely stoked. As usual, you do great work, and we appreciate it. Now I get to do my stuff.
Just a note: I could not format with my preferred drive letter F designation. It was unavailable? No relationship to your letter F choice. This would simply work for me. Also, even a better choice (in my case) would have been the possibility of having no assignment of drive letter or drive path; however, I could not engage that option? Eureka! Completing that process did the trick. So, here I am still doing cartwheels because I don't have to chuck two new 128 GBs to the landfill. 🥳
Creating new volume solved my problem, Thank you 😀 +1 like 👍🏻
This is the result when i try to create partition.
"DiskPart has encountered an error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
See the System Event Log for more information."
what should i do next?
is there another way to fix my micro SD?
Encountered the same thing here
same here
you could try using third party software like AOMEI Partition Assistant or something
Thanks, brand new drive threw out this error, I was able to fix it by following the steps in this video.
It happened to me once where I purchased a new USB drive and it worked fine. After reformatting the drives a few times, it got corrupt and it was impossible to reformat the drive again. I had to bring it back to the shop and get a new USB drive in its place.
Worked like a charm... Thank you brother, you saved me as I had screwed up my brother's SD Card :D
Nice video Brian - frustrating also when flashing Linux images to USB but trusty ole diskpart can always fix the issue with a couple more commands I.e., list partition - > select partition x - > format fs=fat32 (think I remembered that correctly of the top of my head!) - cheers mate 👍
Diskpart is very powerful
creating a new simple volume worked for me, thanks!
learned alot by just watching your videos !
thanks for the good contents !
Thanks for watching
Thank you so much! I have been having this issue for a very long time
Nice video Brian. Just curious to find out how the ryzen 2 build faired out and its stability?
Had a few drives with this problem always sent them back under warranty.
Next time will give this a try thanks for sharing Brian.
Love that music at the end!! :-) Brian, what tests could you perform further to see if indeed the drive is faulty or not? Cheers
I see if i can make a video on that for you
Took me 30 minutes to find your video, worked like a charm! Thanks alot
Glad I could help. Don't forget hit the subscribe button for more videos. Much appreciated
I've found that the I/O error mentioned in my first post in this comment thread was caused by a faulty SD Card adapter. I have been using the Integral Dual-Slot Micro SD & SD USB2.0 Memory Card Reader Adapter (white one shaped like a USB stick) for six years. Instead, I placed the unreadable/unwriteable micro SD card in a different adapter (one with a USB cable attached) and Windows 10 recognised it instantly. I ran error checking on it and Windows found and corrected a few problems, but everything is working fine now. Four days I've spent on this, watching UA-cam videos and searching Google! So the old Integral adapter is going in the bin, along with a duplicate, which is even older.
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for this easy-to-follow explanation. It's worked!

What do you do when diskpart list disk shows 0 bytes 0 free on the drive? I've had two raspberry Pi SD cards stop working with the exact same issue.
