I got my side aerial when I was 10. I think these there are a few things that people overlook: 1.Put your force into jumping up and not forward 2.the arms are very important, they carry a lot of the momentum 3.The aerial is very trial and error, you have to find the correct position after a few attempts
I done it today and I realise it’s a lot about the arms, like if I put them at the front then I don’t get enough height and speed and just fall or put my hands down, but if I have them on the side then get speed and more height
@@Alexa.swims44 wow I’m in level 3 tumbling and to get to 4 you have to do a side aerial and I can do one on a trampoline and on floor idk why I can’t do it 🌻
@@paveschooloftheartsdances7999 i got my side aerial a year ago (working on front aerials now), here is some tips! first tip, you should get a solid dive pop up cartwheel which i think carissa explained in the video, then you try your aerial off a curb or an elavated surface. second tip, you could hold something in your hands that you dont want to be slammed into the ground, i tried that to get my one handed cartwheel and it worked. third tip, try and put your hands by your sides when trying an aerial. dont put them by your face, but by your hips so then your hands will be off the ground for longer. good luck!! ☺️
one of the best tips for aerials or any trick in general of just any dance move that requires focus is to breathe in before you do it (like breathing in when you plié or hurdle) then breathing out when you do the trick. even with turns and relevés just breathing out when you do it helps so much. this helped me get more height in my aerial
for me (I got it on the trampoline today, not on ground but I think I'm qualified to give my opinions) I did it into a foam pit, and tried to land on my feet- just getting the movement to not get yourself psyched out it good. then I tried it on a trampoline, and landed it! I tried it on the ground and fell on my ankles, but yeah. so. also- I put my arms in front of me. For ME, it's easier, because sometimes I land and put my hands down while they're still in like fists. it helps for me, but everyone is different. on a trampoline, I can just hurdle into it, but on a tumble track I take 2 steps then hurdle. Skills to have: (at least what I have) -Middle splits (really helps to have flexible legs) -Round off (because of the power in it) -Handstand block (helps for the bounce if that makes sense?) -Cartwheel block (not necessary, but REALLY encouraged) I do NOT have a dive cartwheel and I find them harder than actual aerials. Steps: Into a foam pit Try and land it on your feet. you can put your hands down at the end, but make sure that you are in the air until about when your feet land. Once done, try on a trampoline. Personally, I just went for it. Now that you have the correct movement, send it REALLY HARD and you'll have it, or at least most of it. Don't get too high, try and do it long/sorta high and fast. (This is about where I'm at) get it so that it's VERY consistent. you want to be able to land it at least 8/10 times before trying it on the floor. if you try it before you're ready (like I did) you won't be able to get it. use mats and try on a soft, absorbent surface like a mattress or mat or air track before doing it. That's all I have! -hazel
Hey! If you're still touching the ground even though you're not pressing your hands, here are some tips. 1. Some people find it helpful to hold something soft on your hands (scrunchies are good). 2. Film yourself and notice the mistakes. 3. A lot of people say to kick your feet hard in the air and keep your chest up, which is basically what you should do. But the easiest way to do an aerial is to do it like this: when you start to do an aerial, lower your chest while kicking your leg. This gives more space for your legs. As your back leg goes up in the air, lift your chest up. It gives you more space and power for your legs. I hope these were helpful!
Thank you! I’m learning my aerial right now and I found a few videos so far that are great! Yours is my favorite because you have different cartwheel variations for us to try before doing it to help make it feel similar!
I just recently got my aerial and this video helped a lot! The tip that I would give is to push very hard with your back leg. It will give you enough power to make it all the way around!
I have a great dive cartwheel, a great hurdle, and I can almost do one, but I put my hands on the ground less then a second!! But when I try I start off really good, but I always land on my side!!!! Whyyyyytt
Im so excited i have been trying to do an aerial since i was eight or nine and now im 11 turning twelve and yesterday while i was at gymnastics i kept on practicing and my coach said i was so close and she motivated me to do it and i finally did it after so many years of practice but then my right foot was in pain for the rest of the night when i walk.lol😂😅 Here are some tips if you put your hands down: Practice until your hands only touch nearly at the end (takes a while but works) Get enough power by running and sort of jumping into it so you wont feel like youll hit the ground. Throw your hands back if youre close Then put them all together and practice until you get it(worked for me)btw it didnt actually take me that long to learn but i had to stop for two years because of covid so it didnt take that long i got serious about training this year. Oh i forgot another thing that helped me was flipping faster because it was too long my aerial but not fast enough
I'm kinda late but i recommend trying to get a good height off of the ground when doing a cartwheel/attempting an aerial. when you have a good height you should try and attempt it off a little ledge. maybe fold up a gymnastics mat and do it off there.
I accidentally did an Ariel when i used to Do cheer competition and it was suppost to be just a diving cartwheel but it just happened and i havent been able to do it again since
I’m almost 16 and I still can’t get it. I get so close and then I get so scared. I have the things other than a hurdle but I’m so scared to do it. A few kids in my studio have tried and one almost broke themselves and I watched it happen so i have been so scared sense.
Ok so I got my aerial multiple times but recently I haven’t been able to do it at all. Like my body just won’t go over and it’s like I’m having a mental block even though I’ve had it before :(
I’m learning a side aerial. It is hard. I almost did it on ground, but I landed on my knees, if I went faster I could of did it. I should have pulled in more too.
if you see this , can you pls help me!! i know how to do an areial and ive had it for a while, but every time i do it my leg is bent (not my take off leg but my other one), and my legs are really close together (so rather than them spitting open, they’re close together). do you know how i can fix this?? if so, pls help!!
i can do my aerial and i have since i was literally nine but lately i’ve noticed while doing them they get really high and the middle is high but then the end my head goes down really low practically hitting the floor does any1 have any tips
