Atul Gawande is a surgeon, writer, and public health researcher. He’s also an extraordinary, best-selling author of a number of books. Short story: Want to get things right? Use a checklist. Sounds too silly to work but… It does. Period. I have read some of these books and enjoyed them, but it's like we're having a dialogue with someone who already understands and can interact with you when I watch your videos. The concepts are simple easy to understand. You write no more than the 5 big ideas. No one has time to wait for the payoff anymore. Digestible pieces and then apply. I take notes and rewatch them when I get stuck I look at my notes. To make sure they really get in there, I teach them to my staff- and then I have them teach each other. Thank you.
On the first point - the first reason we fail, necessary fallibility, is more about how some tasks are just plain impossible. Like eating the moon
Just a week ago I saw news about a surgeon performing a foot operation on the wrong foot. He should have used a checklist!

Ha, I lose 3x5 cards and they ended up all over the place, so I came up with a acronyms for things like my morning routine - BBC Productions” - Bed (make it), brush teeth, commune, and so on.

OPTIMIZE with Brian Johnson ever since I first watched this (~6mo ago) I’ve been getting everyone’s name in the OR before surgery (eye surgeon) and it actually had made a difference. Keep up the good work team optimize; making a positive difference in ppls lives 🤙🏻
