Yeah especially because The Cleveland Show is as white as fucking mayonnaise! It's white people trying to write "a black show" where being black is an integral part of the characters, they aren't just characters who happen to be black, a large chunk of jokes, plotlines, and the characters personalities involve being black... While predominantly being written and voiced by white people. I'm not saying that you can't write characters with a different skin colour, or from a different culture to you. But when that's arguably the main issue it's all to easy to miss the mark. And if this was a joke unfortunately there are just too many people who will take it deadly seriously. In a bad way.
Its literally a 70 mile differnce from Rhode island to Massachusetts so most people consider rhode island apart of massachussets in a way. Thats why everyone in the show is a patriots fan, another example is like south Jersey and philedelphia and north Jersey and new York. Everyone in south Jersey and philly are eagles fans and north J and new York are giants and jets fans. So basically youre close enough to another state than you are to the rest of your own state. Get what im putin down? So he wasnt that far off by saying what he did. Like you cant even look up rhodr island without seeing about a dozen things being said about Massachusetts. come on now do a quick google search my guy!
I sort of liked the Cleveland show at first, mainly because of the first episode. But after a few episodes I got bored of it. I don't see it as a 'bad' show, but rather just a boring show, which would've been better off as a one episode special on Family Guy.
Thats one show I could never get into. It came off as way way too realistic to modern day life. I like hank and his wife but the texas culture annoys me too much also so ehh
King of the Hill was good for the same reason Bob's Burgers is good, older episode of The Simpsons are arguably better overall, and why even some older Family Guy episodes were considered much more memorable. There's some relatability there. The jokes don't go so over the top that your suspension of disbelief is completely shattered. I know that seems weird to describe a cartoon but, when their situations seem believable, it has more of a charm to it.
Because of the show's goddamn theme song being constantly played on a certain radio show (you know which one), it got to the point where I cringe every single time I hear it in real life.
My Name Is Cleveland Brown And I Am Proud To Be Right Back In My Home Town With My New Family There's Old Friends & New Friends & Even a Bear Through Good Times & Bad Times Its True Love To Share And So I Found A Place Where Everyone Will Know My Happy Mustache Face This Is The Cleveland Show!
Garabage Boi I once had a dream of me falling off the couch it would start over before I could touch the floor and that song was in the background it made it about 2 million times more creepy tbh
Fun fact: the original line was "My Happy Black Guy face". If you look at his mouth really closely in the opening, you can make you him mouthing black instead of mustache.
I actually like the Cleveland Show. My sentiments about Family Guy are the same and like duh the Cleveland Show is a clone of it. But I thought Cleveland and Donna were way more likable leads than Peter and Lois and their family actually felt like one
Same here, the family was more likable because they don't take the dark humor as far as Family Guy, in fact when they joked about the show being cancelled I stopped watching Family Guy for a while, and I pretty much hate Quagmire now, That guy has zero room to talk when it comes to morals, I mean really, Friggin REALLY? Calling out Brian for wanting to sleep with Lois, coming for the guy who would jump at the chance and as a darn *Shrine* of her in his room......
While you raise a good point, I just thought Cleveland Show was terrible and was so glad it was cancelled. If anything, I actually think American Dad is better than Family Guy but even that show is starting to show signs of maybe it's time to retire after they lost one of the main writers post season 7
I found the problem with The show being about Black characters but the writers are white. It's like the fourth season of Boondocks except its unfunny, uninteresting, bad writing, and recycled formulas.
Say what you want about the show.............Cleveland never truly lowered himself completely to Peter's deplorable level in his show. He never truly sank to Peter's most depraved and evil.
I actually like this show somewhat and then I remember the limb they sacrificed for it was king of the hill than I hate it. was both sports events and this show are both to blame. for koth getting cancelled.
Rudoku1 Good god, I got so much whiplash when I tried watching that incredibly hateful satire of left-leaning community's on "The Goode Family" after years of watching reruns of the grounded and heartfelt modern classic "King of the Hill". How could Mike Judge go from making a show that took jabs at both the right and left mindsets in Texas to creating such a blatently partisan show which at times felt like a bad National Review political comic brought to agonizing life?
I hate when people knock the Cleveland show down because it "canceled" king of the hill. king of the hill already ran its course when the Cleveland show aired.
Fun fact when I saw last Jedi I ordered an orange crush at the theatre there was no syrup and it was bad I ended up drinking it all but not enjoying any of it
6:34 "Massachusetts, Quahog"? As a life long Rhode Islander, I fucking DEMAND an apology for that. The only good thing to come out of Family Guy's wild success is that it taught the rest of the country that Rhode Island is a state.
Why does Seth MacFarlane like putting old and irrelevant memes in his shit, he did it with Peanutbutter Jelly Time, Fleamarket Montgomery, and several others does he thing that referencing things will make people like him, or that he can just steal jokes from old memes and people won't know the source and will just think it's funny because it's random?
Or that one in a rather recent episode where they do Leeroy Jenkins.........only to fuck it up by having Cleveland ask beforehand if the other 3 knew what a Leeroy Jenkins is, thus the people who are the target of the joke immediately realize they are about to do said joke.
Damn Mars, you keep talking about it sucking but your not digging deep enough about the issues. It was a pandering move for Seth, if American Dad was his chance to poke at political humor then Cleveland Show was shot a Black humor but between the fact that's not McFarland's move ( not the guy for the job) and working on all these other projects he should have walk away or just start fresh. In the end it was a good idea executed really badly.
Anthony McMahan Cleveland show isn't really something like "Blackish" is. It doesn't really use the race as a way to tell stories most of the times like American Dad does with politics sometimes, but to make jokes. Which is kind of expected since there was nothing much to Cleveland other than being the "black friend". I think Family Guy is aware that it is was his main status. Joe and Quagmire are more interesting characters to start a spinoff but they are too necessary for the show so they used Cleveland.
Matt I. Quagmire having a spin-off wouldn't work because to paraphrase "no one wants to watch a show about a rapist". If they had to force him to get one, then Quagmire's character wouldn't be the same.
Both Quagmire and Cleveland weren't good for having spin-off shows. IF anything, the only spinoffs from Family Guy that could;ve successfully worked are Brian and Stewie (since they seem to be the popular favorites of modern Family Guy) or possibly Joe and his family.
MasterofRoku Yeah, i'm not saying a show with Quagmire would be good. All i'm saying is that he is one of the only side characters with enough personality to have their own show. Besides, i'm not sure if they care about that since they seem to focus a lot of their plots on Quagmire for some reason.
I alwayd thought it was fucked up that Donna's mom killed herself in Family Guy despite getting a good end in the finale and that without Cleveland his block would get fucked up. Pretty morbid for a boring show
It was a Family Guy episode where Peter and the gang head over to Korea to find a lost episode of a K-Drama Quagmire starred in. Cleveland would talk about how Donna's mom shot her head off every few minutes and it just felt way too dark and out of place considering how the final episode of the Cleveland Show was about her and Donna's ex getting married and adopting a chinese kid as Donna kept thinking they're still pieces of shit when it turns out they were working hard taking care of the child.
Dwayne _ Mitchell it was a good show until the last season. But I enjoyed it due to Eddie Murphy’s return to television around the time he was selling out theaters with his films.
Matthebandit DX - There are a lot of people who state that one or two episodes were the only good episodes of the season. Maybe they should be mentioned and not the rest of S4.
It feels weird that both spinoffs, i.e. American Dad and the Cleveland show, were created by former Family Guy writers at different periods of the show's life. American Dad being technically made to replace family guy (having been cancelled) and Cleveland to replace KOTH. The show was pushed a lot more by Mike Henry and Richard Appel, whereas American Dad seemed to have full crew support even when family guy came back on air.
I liked this as a teenager but now I've watched it recently, I think the problem was more so the lack of a culturally aware creator. If you compare this show to the Boondocks, you immediately find that Cleveland Brown is more of a black stereotype in his stand alone show. Boondocks on the other hand has a multitude of versatile characters that are black but also bloody attention drawing. I personally think it's because the creator of the Boondocks was apart of the culture he was depicting that's why the characters in Boondocks are not watered down sitcom trope filled outlines trying to be funny but are genuinely cool, black and interesting enough to bring audiences back time and again. That and when you have an actor that's of the ethnicity of the character they are playing it feels progressive rather than traditionally Hollywood white washed. (Go Regina King).
They totally changed his personality in this show. If you watch Family guy, then this, and his return to family guy. You will see three different guys. Family Guy 1- a total nice and normal dude. Every few episodes FG would try to get emotional or have serious drama. Cleveland Show was just silly nonsense all the way through.
Okay, Let me tell you why I like the cleveland show. 1. It dosent rely on cutaway gags. i HATE all the cutaway gags in family guy, some episodes they can add up to a third of a fucking episode, which is wild considering that they have absolutely nothing to do with the plot at all 2. The main characters are consistent and likable. I think cleveland is a genuinely good person! He's a good father and a good husband and while he isnt perfect, he isnt the worst person in the universe like umm, LITERALLY EVERYONE IN FAMILY GUY (except meg cause shes a punching bag and serves no other purpose than that) 3. its at least a little less crude. its still crude but family guy feels like its trying extremely hard to get cancelled with how incredibly disgusting its gotten lately. The cleveland show has /some/ level of restraint when it comes to that sort of thing, theres a lot less grossout and i cant think of anything from the cleveland show that is genuinely deeply unsettling, but with family guy i could wright an essay about that garbage. i guess really what im saying is that the cleveland show is like, okay, and family guy is a complete disaster that should have stayed cancelled the second time. (american dad is pretty good though, i really like that one)
I'm pretty surprised i'm in the minority here. (Maybe not surprised, on second thought, cause I'm a huge fan of Family Guy, American Dad, and even Seth's new show The Orville) But The Cleveland Show is actually pretty funny. It's first season was a little rough, but it found it's footing in my opinion, and it ended up being hilarious. Plenty of jokes from the show me and my friends STILL reference all the time. I often hear the critisisms calling it a "rip off" or a "cash in" and similar things, but I always just assumed people wrote the show off before watching it, but it seems I was wrong and people just genuinely hated it, which is fine.
I’m watching this video 5 years later and while it’s always gonna be a classic… saying that family guy will forever have a bigger impact than South Park is one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard
Neoslayer PW Cleveland Show was shitty. The jokes didn't land and the ones that did so did it awkwardly. Hell, I couldn't even tell who the target audience was. I only watched it in the slight chance it would get better, and spoiler alert, it didn't
I liked the Cleveland Show personally but this was a good review. I feel that giving Cleveland more of Peter's personality was a mistake and the show could have made itself more different from Family Guy but I still found it good. Also one thing the Cleveland Show will always have over Family Guy is that it ended.
Cleveland Show was a disaster built to fail from day one. They took the most uninteresting side character in Family Guy and some reason decided to build an entire show around him. Never gonna work. That's why they had to change his personality from a monotone, sombre drunk to an energetic, rumbustious feminine version of Peter. Cleveland's emotionless persona acted as the perfect straight man to bounce off of the more goofier personalities of his drinking buddies, but without those goofy facades he would've been boring and they knew that, hence the personality shift. Quagmire or even Joe would've been a better fit to base a spin-off of.
My old boss went out on a date with Mike Henry (producer and voice of Cleveland) when they were in highschool. She said he was an immature jackass who, during the date, tossed a cheeseburger on to someone's windshield while they were driving by.
The main reason Cleveland show became a thing was just for the jokes afterwards on family guy, best jokes in that season. In case of Cleveland i did liked the characters but everything else was off.The kids were fan but that's all, also when they tried the kids were not copy paste of family guy and Cleveland being...well Cleveland, ANYTHING else felt like taken from family guy and repainted it.
That's a good joke lol Well actually wait. I'll humor it even though I despise Cleveland Show. Are you talking about old Family Guy, Modern/New Family Guy, or Family Guy in general as a whole show?
Nah It's just ok it's pretty inferior. It's funny at times but the concept it's self is flawed. Cleveland is the straight man and not as fun as Peter. It would be like making the Lois Show.
Are you serious South Park birthed the likes of morel oral, Xavier renegade angel,Bojack horseman,Rick & Morty,Regular show, The Amazing world of gumball,Robot chicken, every show and animator on UA-cam and the underground and paved the way for a generation of edgy, vulgar, abstract and creative shows we see on most on adult swim,TBS,FX,and Comedy Central, sure family guy influenced phineas & Pherb but 95% shows influenced by family guy are shitier garbage like the Napoleon Dynamite show,Allen Gregory, neighbors from hell etc. And you say seth has more impact then trey & Matt but South Park movie and America crew one them them criticall acclaim and Emmy’s and oscars, seth barely one any of em. Matter effect he’s the most universal mocked celebrity in those communities, him being a host in the Oscar awards already sold him out to be a joke. Trey and Matt get shit for being offensive, non apologetic, and crued but them get attack by liberals, religions, celebrities, Terriost is far more impactful then anything seth has done, cause in the end of the day people the talent in trey and Matt; nobody does with seth.
Surprised he never mentioned how david lynch is a recurring character. That's the weirdest thing about the show for me. Even more so than kanye's cameos
Personally, I think this show is....kind of meh in my opinion, but I respect your opinion, too. I do completely agree with you in that seeing visible on-screen vomit in television, films, etc., is disgusting as hell....
What I hate most is that the family guy characters always made cameos and made jokes about how shitty the show was. Yea I already know that, you don’t need to tell me.
The Cleveland Show Is Incredibly Underrated. The Show Is So Edgy. it"s Funny & Full Of Action/Violence & Drama. I Never Watched Family Guy, Without Being At Someone Else's House & They Were Watching It. I Heard/Read Everything I Needed To Know About Family Guy & It's Overrated. The Cleveland Show Production Was Far Better Than An Overrated Show. The Only Problem I Had With the Cleveland Show Was Donna's Disrespectful Kids & Cleveland's Terrible Dad.

Okay, Let me tell you why I like the cleveland show.
1. It dosent rely on cutaway gags. i HATE all the cutaway gags in family guy, some episodes they can add up to a third of a fucking episode, which is wild considering that they have absolutely nothing to do with the plot at all
2. The main characters are consistent and likable. I think cleveland is a genuinely good person! He's a good father and a good husband and while he isnt perfect, he isnt the worst person in the universe like umm, LITERALLY EVERYONE IN FAMILY GUY (except meg cause shes a punching bag and serves no other purpose than that)
3. its at least a little less crude. its still crude but family guy feels like its trying extremely hard to get cancelled with how incredibly disgusting its gotten lately.
Man the bit about Kanye...oof
"Family Guy in Black Face." Holy shit is that accurate. Lol
I just hope someone puts home movies into the raffle again
> "Family Guys' influence will always be greater than Matt Stone's and Trey Parkers"
You focken' what mate?
11:32 Ok, now that was just racist.
I can't believe this S.O.B. just said that !!!! SMH
He's black
Who cares
Agreed. I was like "Dude, that's not always the case.

How to trigger Seth mecfarlane: say he’s the fifth best.
Thanks for that minute and five second bio on your friend; was real informative.
I've actually seen that flea market ad. Literally the only thing they changed was animating it and having it be performed by Cleveland.
Zeepsterd killed my family
he ran over mine with a go cart and Garfield was in the back seat.
Zeep burnt my shake
the thanksgiving episode caught me so off-guard. as a trans person hearing cleveland, arguably usually my favorite, say THE slur iwas so odd.
"Meme within our group of friends" dude just say it's an inside joke
New favorite reviewer wtf. Seen this second after randomly coming across the George of the Jungle S2
I’m watching this video 5 years later and while it’s always gonna be a classic… saying that family guy will forever have a bigger impact than South Park is one of the worst takes I’ve ever heard
177 black people disliked this video
..Including me
Neoslayer PW Cleveland Show was shitty. The jokes didn't land and the ones that did so did it awkwardly. Hell, I couldn't even tell who the target audience was. I only watched it in the slight chance it would get better, and spoiler alert, it didn't
Neoslayer PW did you peep the un subtle racist remark this guy was bold enuf to end his video with
What a racist idiot
I don't see how this comment was racist
I just said I am black
Neoslayer PW I was talkin to you about the content created
I’m saying did you also hear @marsreviews racist remark
Oof no
I love it when people I love know each other
First five minutes is not even the review/what the title said. This is the definition of dragging a vid out to 10 mins
I’m actually a big fan of the Cleveland show, not because it’s funny but because of the idiocy it generates
I agree with the statments made in this video, I just think your method for delivery is abysmal.
Tim Duncan checking that Gatorade fit so well lol
That thumbnail tho just 👌👌👌
American Dad is the best thing Seth MacFarlane has done
I think the only good episode from that show is when Cleveland Jr pretend to be a lesbian because of his new haircut.
8:49 even without any context this cut away had me laughing 🤣🤣
What the actual fuck was that final line
I liked the Cleveland Show personally but this was a good review. I feel that giving Cleveland more of Peter's personality was a mistake and the show could have made itself more different from Family Guy but I still found it good. Also one thing the Cleveland Show will always have over Family Guy is that it ended.

do you want a kids meal? NO! do you mean yes? yeeeyes
Am i the only one who likes American dad?
Sista Jinx Thomas no you're not
Sista Jinx Thomas god no
It has much better writing than Family Guy
The main reason Cleveland show became a thing was just for the jokes afterwards on family guy, best jokes in that season.
In case of Cleveland i did liked the characters but everything else was off.The kids were fan but that's all, also when they tried the kids were not copy paste of family guy and Cleveland being...well Cleveland, ANYTHING else felt like taken from family guy and repainted it.
The Cleveland Show wasn't too bad, it's more enjoyable than Family Guy.
Seth MacFarlane is not second most famous Charles Shultz is.
Facts - Cleveland show is better then family guy
ivan pabon anything is better than family guy
That's a good joke lol Well actually wait. I'll humor it even though I despise Cleveland Show. Are you talking about old Family Guy, Modern/New Family Guy, or Family Guy in general as a whole show?
Decadent Gamer first three
NOTHING is Better then Family Guy
Nah It's just ok it's pretty inferior. It's funny at times but the concept it's self is flawed. Cleveland is the straight man and not as fun as Peter. It would be like making the Lois Show.
I once heard the Cleveland Show song blasting from my brother's room down the hallway.
Because your brother knows the show is litty

"Fuck toy Zeep, don't ever make me do this shit again" lmfao
South parks impact>>>>> family guys impact
Are you serious South Park birthed the likes of morel oral,
Xavier renegade angel,Bojack horseman,Rick & Morty,Regular show, The Amazing world of gumball,Robot chicken, every show and animator on UA-cam and the underground and paved the way for a generation of edgy, vulgar, abstract and creative shows we see on most on adult swim,TBS,FX,and Comedy Central, sure family guy influenced phineas & Pherb but 95% shows influenced by family guy are shitier garbage like the Napoleon Dynamite show,Allen Gregory, neighbors from hell etc.
Trey and Matt get shit for being offensive, non apologetic, and crued but them get attack by liberals, religions, celebrities,
Terriost is far more impactful then anything seth has done, cause in the end of the day people the talent in trey and Matt; nobody does with seth.
Surprised he never mentioned how david lynch is a recurring character. That's the weirdest thing about the show for me. Even more so than kanye's cameos
*cough* *cough* Matt Groening *cough*
I'm shocked you didn't point out David Lynch voicing himself as a regular character, that shit was baffling even for him.
That last line was low key racist and it came outa nowhere
Yea very racist
He's black
True! Cleveland show isn't even created by a black person.
Cleveland’s new family moved to Quahog when the Cleveland show was cancelled if you’re wondering kmr’s twitter feed still says clevelandjr
Am I the only person who thinks the cleveland show is somewhat better than family guy?
DrinkCooler Nah I support your Opinion
You have a good ass music taste. I love rigamortus and that's not even the only good song I've heard you play
Your buggin, The Cleavland show is funny as fuck. Cleveland Jr alone make it worth watching.
I didn't know you could make a review in protest but there we go.
Here b4 1M biews
I completely forgot all about that flea market cutaway.
This show was awful
It's not, the first season wasn't very good but after that it was pretty damn funny.
Molamoo12 that's not saying much
Big T. Larrity that subjective and no it wasn't
Big T. Larrity I turn the shit off when it comes on adult swim
Good for you
I didn't even know that Cleveland Show was actually a show. I thought it was one of those inside jokes of Family Guy
"and if ur wondering why
BLACKS don't have tv shows..." HARD cringe my dude
Personally, I think this show is....kind of meh in my opinion, but I respect your opinion, too. I do completely agree with you in that seeing visible on-screen vomit in television, films, etc., is disgusting as hell....
Go Daria!😍
What I hate most is that the family guy characters always made cameos and made jokes about how shitty the show was. Yea I already know that, you don’t need to tell me.
Cleveland Show SUCKS It's a poor man's Family Guy
The Cleveland Show Is Incredibly Underrated. The Show Is So Edgy. it"s Funny & Full Of Action/Violence & Drama. I Never Watched Family Guy, Without Being At Someone Else's House & They Were Watching It. I Heard/Read Everything I Needed To Know About Family Guy & It's Overrated. The Cleveland Show Production Was Far Better Than An Overrated Show. The Only Problem I Had With the Cleveland Show Was Donna's Disrespectful Kids & Cleveland's Terrible Dad.
Eh I kinda liked it
