    If you compare footage of the prior Gibson factory set up to the current set up you'll see the difference in assembly & production technique, lighting, organization, work flow and cleanliness. Great job Gibson & Cesar at the Modernization of it's Craft also great words spoken by J.C.. the new leadership at Gibson has done a great job. Rubbish, the QC was and is not the best, and it`s big pressure, if one has to wait, til the next is ready.

      @@philfrank9226 If you owned a Gibson, especially one made during the past few years since the new management took over then you would probably not be so negatively perpetuating the ancient mantra about bad QC. This was always over-exaggerated, often by people who had never even touched a Gibson. I have played many a Gibson over the years and they have in the main been well made with few issues, and without exception they've been a joy to play. I now own a 2020 Les Paul and it's pristine, a superb example of build excellence and sheer quality. It's not just me - many others who own recently-made Gibsons are saying the same.

    I’m always amazed when I see all the handwork still needed to make a guitar. Even in 2020 the quality of the instrument is still highly dependent on the skill of the many craftspeople doing that handwork. It really is an amazing thing. Much respect to all those people.

    Stoked this finally came out. All my life I dreamed of owning a Gibson Les Paul, ended up with a 2019 classic (strangely without any weight relief as the 2019 models are said to have had it but honestly I love that it's not weight relieved) falling into my hands earlier this year finally which really was a dream come true for me - I love being a part of the Gibson brand and it's so sick to see how invested JC and the bois are in reprising Gibsons legacy again and connecting with their customers. Cheers for this!

    Great series! I have several Gibsons, and each and every one of them has that "wow factor". Love them all. One cool thing about this series for me is seeing how, despite the CNC machines and automated processes, there are still a BUNCH of American workers touching each guitar, taking pride in their work, and making it special. People sometimes say Gibsons are expensive, but when you see everything that goes into them, you understand what you're paying for.

    Guess some of these steps were skipped on mine. Just got one from guitar center Tuesday of this week. A Les Paul,got it home tuned it up and proceeded to play it. When I got to around the 17th fret and make a bend the string deadens immediately. The action was way Low. Then switched to the neck pickup,sounded good,went to adjust the volume and couldn't. The knob turned but the volume didn't change. Tone knob worked but the volume is where it was. Took it back to guitar center told them it needed a set up and about the issue with the neck pickup. Got a call from their tech yesterday afternoon saying he would need to get with gibson to send a whole new circuit because there was short causing the volume control to not work on the neck pickup. Also said he wasn't happy with the set up it came with, action too low and pick up height was off and he would try to get it covered under the warranty to save me 50$ for the cost of a set up. Now mind you this is on a brand new 2019 model 2000$ Les Paul that I played for maybe 30 minutes. I'm not a famous musician,not wealthy by no mean5 and just wanted to have a nice iconic guitar after years of playing cheaper knock off guitars. I'm almost 50 and waited all of my life to get a Gibson Les Paul, finally got One and it's still at guitar center waiting to be fixed straight from the factory

    2:57 this is in my opinion the most important job of the line. Making sure that nut is filed properly and the neck has the correct tension is crucial to how the instrument plays right off the line. It's a lot for one guy to do, I really feel like it's a 3 man job and if you have one guy filing, stringing, and adjusting the neck without slowing up the line that guy's the MVP.
    Edit* check out my recent solo video, I have a lot of Gibsons. 😉

    • @mikejones-vd3fg
      @mikejones-vd3fg 3 роки тому +1

      Agree but before that happens you need level frets for all that to work, if that doesnt go right then it doesnt matter how you file the nut or adjust the truss rod you'll have string buzz or high action to compensate. If I read right Gibson uses plek machines to level their frets for custom shop models, which tells me that part of the job is still variable and they dont want to bother with a human hand anymore. And I agree, its an art basically where you cant bang out in high volume, or maybe you can... I dont know for sure I dont make guitars but ive tried some fender squires tele's that have some super low action meaning the fretwork was nice, maybe they figured something out in the manufacturing process to get that part more consistent? That being said Gibsons still turn out the most playable out of all the guitars in the shop I try so I have a great respect for Gibson and their quality control for where it matters most to me - playability.

    • @joeyskar
      @joeyskar 3 роки тому +2

      Oh yeah, if the frets are not right then all of that was for nothing. I wonder if there's someone on the final line who handles any minor fret issues right there on the spot or if it has to be sent back to that department.

    I do safety audits for a major chemical manufacturer. You need to manage your sawdust better, I see a lot of dust on top of ducting, lighting fixtures, electrical cables, etc.
    I have seen plants burn down due to these highly combustible dusts. It only takes one source of ignition and it will spread very quickly through your facility. This is something you must address, it will also improve the quality of manufacturing so it’s a win-win.

    I love Gibson Les Paul’s. Long time fender fan, but that Les Paul is just a perfect instrument!

      Yep Pete I agree - I play & teach guitar all day long on strat's/tele's which I love & both are workman like which is why I use them for lessons but The Les Paul is.....is something I just can't put my finger ....I have a pre historic '88 LP 58 reissue which is just an incredible instrument!:)

    I have had a few clunkers over the years, but the 2 I've kept are masterpieces for sure.

    At 02:00 there is an SG in blue that is incredible, and I’ve never seen it advertised anywhere.

    I know this is promotion but they do seem genuinely passionate about the guitars they are making these days! I have a 2019 Les Paul Classic in Green Ocean Burst - Sweetwater Exclusive - finest guitar Ive ever owned and Ive owned a ton of them!

    Just bought the Les Paul Special Tribute P-90. I was a little worried about quality just because it's one of their cheapest models, but it's probably the best guitar I've ever played and sounds incredible. On a side note, I feel like it would be as hard to get a job at Gibson as it would be to become a famous musician.

    That purple/blue SG looks amazing, can't believe Gibson use's what looks like my tiny £120 blackstar 20W id core amp for tuning. BTW note the 'ghost turds' at 2:12 hope they don't drop off the pipe and onto the wet finish!

    I’m completely hooked on all the content Gibson TV has to offer. I’m so happy how the new management was able to rescue the brand quickly in all senses. I own 3 Gibson Les Pauls, one of them a 2019 Goldtop 50’s standard. I have to say the 2019 stands out big time, in tone, construction and overall quality. Such a beautiful and stable instrument that makes you feel empowered. So glad. Looking forward to the next amazing Gibson years.
