- Опубліковано 12 жов 2024
- This is the second time I've posted this urn design. From start to finish, this took about 12 hours. It is constructed of mahogany, walnut, maple and rosewood. I found a great online supplier of threaded brass inserts and acquired some more. The supplier is www.fromwalnuttoantlers.com and I highly recommend him. As always, thank you for subscribing and watching my videos. I've got a few special projects coming up soon! Until then, happy turning! --Dan

Dan, they have the threaded inserts back in stock. I was told the son is taking over. Their website is updated as well. Thank you!
And once again you knocked it out of the park. That is a stunning piece.
Beautiful as always. I love your videos. Between the camera work angels and soothing choice of music, I can watch all day. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Absolutely beautiful, Dan. I didn't see it the first time. Thanks again for sharing.

Nice job 👍👍👍
Wow
WOW that a nice Urn. I think I'll make mine, maybe not that good . But what the heck I wont have look at it I'll be on the inside. ;-] ;-] ha
You have magic fingers.
Salut dan, encore une superbe vidéo et un très beau travail, comme à chaque fois de toute façon, merci
Very beautiful Urn. How did you size it and how much will it hold?
Hi Jeff, as far as sizing is concerned, i basically just guessed at what 200 cubic inches would be. I came up short at 195 on this project. But, now it seems that it would be a simple matter to modify the woodturner pro plans to go smaller or larger. I'm guessing there will continue to be some guess work.
Dan Livingston Makes Exellent.Thank you for the info.
Stunning, where did you find those brass insets?

@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Thanks so much, been looking for something like that
Great work! Where do you get the brass parts? I am making an urn for a friend.
Thanks for watching, Mark. The gentleman who was making those for me has passed away. But, there's a chance that his family is still making them. They can be contacted at www.fromwalnuttoantlers.com. Good luck!
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft thank you for the info.
Sei un grande perché non mi invii la tua scheda tecnica dei tagli chiedo troppo vero ? Un salutone 👍👍
What size brass insert did you use on this? My mother-in-law picked this one out and I'm trying to make it for her. Also not sure to order tall or short version?
Sir, that was a 3" opening. I've used both the tall and short. Both work very well.
Any information how to find a source for the inserts? Great segment work?
Hi Tom, thanks for watching. I got those brass inserts from www.fromwalnuttoantlers.com
@@LivingstonBrothersWoodcraft Have you purchased any recently?
@@thomaseller6950 I have not Tom. I was informed that the gentleman who made these has passed away. But, his son was supposed to take it over.
👍
Dan. Is the metal trim and threads a standard? When I first got into turn I wanted to learn about making urns. I wasn’t sure if there are any laws or standards for them.
Hi Mark, thanks for watching. I had the same exact question at first. I have a friend who owns a funeral home and I asked him. There are plenty of regulations prior and during cremation. But, according to him, there are no laws governing how the remains need to be kept. You should still check within your local area, but there are no strict rules here in Maryland, USA. I bought those threaded brass inserts on www.fromwalnuttoantlers.com. Thanks.
Where did you get your new name plate?
Hi David, I found a local trophy shop where they have an engraver. Very inexpensive. And I can size the bottom mortise so they fit.
Hope your okay, haven't seen your posts in a while!
Hi Ray, thank you. I'm fine. I had a small shop accident and I'm on the mend.
Get well soon!
