Radio tells a better story than a film because it allows for a greater imagination by the listener.

Absolutely love Richard Briers. Not only a fantastic comedy actor, but he was known for being incredibly generous and kind. He also did a fantastic dramatic turn in Inspector Morse.

A VERY GOOD SCRIPT. A LESSON TO BE HAD. RECORD EVERYTHING. WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW. DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU IN EITHER DIRECTION.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👍😊! Love to smile and laugh out loud, and Richard Brier was fabulous at comedy theatre, and doesn’t disappoint in this production!

I like Front & I enjoyed this vm! The only thing that didnt sit well w/me was the age of the character. I mean he's "middle aged" if his life expectancy is 140. LOL Tysm Archie B.! We all could use more comedy. Laughter scares germs yall! (]8

Many thanks! Always liked some of BBC's radio drama and comedy. Middle class navel-gazing was one of the things that turned me away from Auntie but it was well written and performed.

As a kid, I remember looking forward to The Good Life every week on TV. Truth be told, it was probably to drool over Felicity Kendal, but the whole cast was brilliant. I don’t know how she put up with RB. She was the woman you dreamed was your neighbor. An expat in S Florida.

I loved Penelope Keith in this and, of course, Paul Eddington - it was a brilliant series.

Never have acquired a taste for Briers. But the upload is much appreciated none the less. That opening music. I know it. I’ve heard it many times before. But it’s been quite some time. It’s from one of the comedy programs but I’m at a loss as to which one. Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

Bodegabreath 558 I think it’s from The Italian Girl in Algiers by Rossini.

      Susan Ruiz
Could very well be. But if so, it’s also from a TV British comedy series. I’ve never heard of the Rossini work. My loss. Thank you.

Is that Rebecca Front we can hear? Love the Fronts, talented duo! I’m not a fan of snapping-stuttery Briers at all, that plummy pompous accent is really dated now.

Slightly mean comment, Richard Briers was a national treasure, his accent was of it's time

Me too - Richard Briars. Annoys the sh*t out of me. I tried to ignore the fact it's him and get involved ; BUT , everytime i hear his irritating self assured, rapid-fire, arrogant bumbling rhetoric, I'm so distracted by my general dislike of the man , I forget what I'm listening to. I cant listen to this Arch - but I know you understand ha ha* Richard Briars is like "listening to paint dry."

    • @adzdahlman9724

@@flotinaway7 - yeah ; but look at the rest of the cast in Good Life ; all superb. + the fanciable aspect of Felicity Kendall - even as a little boy I thought her compellingly attractive ha ha.

    • @adzdahlman9724

Richard Briars - 1970's tv comedy actor. His general character - dissatisfied grumbly sexist who always has to try tooo hard but dithers through petty trials and tribulations. Hancock stylie - assuming you know how irritating Tony Hancock is/was - possibly not. Well worth listening to Hancock's Half Hour -once- as a challenge to gauge how much inane humourless drivel you can sustain before destroying something* - ps : It's repeated endlessly on BBC Radio 4Extra if you fancy ruining your pleasant frame of mind for "a laugh."
