I knew someone who had this problem, turned out to be an ecu fault, try cheap things first though. Could be the crankshaft sensor on top of the gear box or cam shaft sensor, injectors? Check the fuel pump in the tank. These engines are great but 1 little thing can mess them up. Hope you can get it going.
Hi I have the same car 306 hdi and does this every now and then when I turn the key it cranks and does what yours did what was the cause of yours please as i haven’t seen a mechanic yet 😊
@@laurafirth3071 hi, if it's now and then it could be a simple fuel filter issue. But also a few other things but a mechanic will most likely change alot of money even for easy jobs unless you know a mechanic in person. If you are feeling brave you could buy a haynes manual to help you try the easy stuff, when it cranks and does this now and then does it start next time you try or can you be stuck somewhere waiting for it to start? I hate now and then problems as their hard to pinpoint

Change multifunctional pump relay as your first diagnostic. 20 quid and dont need to know anything about cars.
