Fourth round of the 1993 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix Season. On a weekend marred by the tragic death of 250cc rider Nobuyuki Wakai in a practice accident on Saturday, Alex Barros looked set to win his first race, until crashing out with a few laps to go. This handed the lead to Kevin Schwantz, who went on to win ahead of Wayne Rainey and local rider Àlex Crivillé.

Eastlake was the greatest narrator of GP Racing that ever sat behind a microphone. He is sorely missed just as Real GP Race Bikes and Riders are.
In a handful of 500cc races, Barros was just so unbelievably quick!

Lol @ Sheene, the Doohan back brake will never work as well, that's why hundreds of people use it now and it is even fitted to road bikes, old man!!
TT riders all swear by thumb brakes. 👍
Kevin always made it look so easy it was strange when he fell off, it was almost as if a Gremlin kicked the bike out from under him. Rainy and Doohan also could make it look easy but not anywhere near as consistently as you could see a lot of bike movement beneath them. Poor Barros, a momentary loss of focus and it’s over for him.
Feel for Barros here. He had it in the bag. Wasn't as big as his off at Assen though. That was much faster.
That's one of the worst chokes in motorsports I've ever seen.
SebastianX1/9 Barros pretty much had the race in the bag after Schwantz went off the track. He dumped it again at Assen.
Seria uma vitória sensacional, mas um erro na frenagem foi para a parte suja da pista e Barros acabou caindo, uma pena, depois tudo o que fez na corrida.
