Thank you so much for posting this video. I have a Chemex coffee maker and I have been wanting to get a stainless steel filter but I wasn't very convinced but after watching this video, I will order one ASAP thank you!
Big fan of the oils that remain in the Able Kone! Was your pour technique of the AK the same as the Chemex filters, or do you keep it right down the middle mostly?
Awesome! We love the Able Kone as well. Everyone has their preference of texture so we always like to showcase both so consumers can make the right choice for them! I'm still experimenting with how pour technique affects the cups I brew. I generally like to use a circular motion when saturating the grounds (center to edge) as well as after the bloom (out to center) in a as quickly/evenly as possible to prevent major channeling. Once I've done that I usually start pouring a steady stream in the middle to reach the g count I like. I'm still playing with this, but if you have another technique feel free to share! -Lindsay
Hey Lindsay! Yea, that works well. Lately I've been experimenting with the slow steady stream up the middle, up until about 80% to "g count" ;) then circling outwards to ensure all of the grinds are involved. Happy brewing!
Is that the 10 cup Chemex ? The Kone seems to have a better fit than in the 6 or 8 cups brewers that have the same opening size at the top. The Kone does not fit inside the 6 and 8 cup Chemex but hangs on the top and is hard to fit straight.
Hey Stefan! We used the Kone in a 10cup model in this video. Able designed the Kone to function the same in the 10, 8, and 6 cup Chemex models, even though it the fit may be different. It's the end result of tasty coffee and not having to throw out a filter that counts!
@@1st-lineequipment I meant the remnants at the bottom of the cups at about 2:50 into the demo. I found the difference quite dramatic, was surprised how light the remaining coffee was with the chemex filters.
@@1st-lineequipment BTW thanks for taking time to reply. I was also remiss in not complimenting your excellent presentation. Can the Kone be used in place of the Bodun reusable filter too?
Would have liked a more detailed description of the two flavors. Obviously the able kone is going to be more full bodied, but does it maintain that high level of clarity a chemex usually has, or is is more muddy like a french press? ect.
Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately as a vendor we are susceptible to customer's claims of false advertising or not as described with their credit card companies when they can NOT produce a flavor described. It is nonsense, but it has happened in the past.
Great comparison! Many thanks
Oooooooo wanted a Chemex good to know there's a reusable metal cone for this like the aeropress metal disc! Thank you!
Tanks a lot👌🏽

No more java Jim
DON'T YOU WORRY HE'S STILL AROUND ;)
why does the residual of chemex cup look like weak tea, or very watered down coffee?
hmm not sure what you mean. are you talking about the filters at the end?

1st-line Equipment Ah gotcha, that makes sense. Coffee is so finicky you'd think people would be more understanding :(
If you like to drink the grounds then the AK is for you....we prefer using the Chemex Filters, as it was designed, TETO
