Show him that you are actually committed to seeing where things will go in general and committed to the date in particular. Show him that you are actually interested instead of just trying to get money or a free meal out of him. Yes, he should plan and pay for the first date, but evn if for some reason he decided that you two should pay for your own meal on the first date, that doesn't make him less of a provider. Depending on when he brings it up, it could mean either hes not really you or the date, or it could mean that he's cautious with where he invests his money. And if you're not his woman, it's not his job to provide for you anyway. But he can show you he's a provider after the first date or during the date without paying for your part of the date if we being honest.
