I really despised the character roster. Brio is a good guy, having redeemed himself in Crash 2, and yet they portrayed him as a bad guy here. Plus, no Tawna. They could have had Crash, Coco, Brio and Tawna against Cortex, N. Gin, Dingodile and Tiny. Unlockables that aren't playable in story mode are: all the bosses, Fake Crash, Ripper Roo, Koala Kong and Spyro. Also, I'd change bosses and the story: Bosses would be Papu Papu, Komodo Bros (replace the bearminator), Pinstripe (replaces the Komodo Bros, as he'd be a better adversary for a tank minigame), Oxide, and N. Tropy in the final warp room (N. Tropy is fought in three rounds: a space riding segment like Oxide, a racing minigame where instead of going in circles you compete through a long, linear track, and finally a variant of Mallet Mash where you hit his orbs with a mallet to reflect them to him). The story could have been changed by having N. Tropy deciding to seek revenge on both Aku Aku and Uka Uka, seeing them as trash: he waits for the two masks to fight and uses his power over time to trap both masks in a time bubble, taking advantage of their weakness. N. Tropy reveals he took in people who both Aku Aku and Uka Uka have forgotten about, and orders Aku Aku and Uka Uka to summon four champions each to participate in his game: whichever team wins shall have their mask freed, but the team that loses and their mask will get erased from existence. Would it be cooler? Another change I'd make to Crash Bash is the rounds: trophies only require to win one round, not three.
I would have loved to have seen unlockable players being added in to the game. It felt very limited with just 8 choices. It would be like CTR not having the boss characters being unlockable to play in multiplayer. I would have much preferred to play your version of crash bash
A few things I want to add. Rilla Roo has the same properties as Dingodile. You can shoot twice in the tank stages but their blasts are weaker, the crate throws are also weaker, the pushes in the polar levels are the same as Crash and Coco but they have more weight than them. Oxide is actually easy in the pong section if you die 5 or 6 times in a row. Like this is an official speedrun tactic, it's literally impossible to beat him unless you fail a few times. Rilla Roo exists because Eurocom at the time wanted a character similar to Dingodile since we had Tiny/Koala Kong, Cortex/Brio and Crash/Coco. Both N.Gin or N.Tropy wouldn't fit, but I wonder why they didn't use Ripper Roo instead, I think he would fit well. They could have then used N.Tropy for El Pogo Loco with a different antic I guess. There is no confirmation Penta is the penguin in the Snow Bash stage. It could just be a random penguin like the ones used the snow levels of Crash 2. Especially since he isn't using his iconic scarf. Otherwise, good video and EF the Pogo Padlock crystal challenge.

Yes the story of crash bash is the developers didn't know what to do with crash So the masks had a bit of a fight and this game was made. But yeah pogo levels were just always my least favourite level type. Pogo padlock is the worst though. I hated that level so much. But yeah a lot of the time you can only do so much because the computers are either too overpowered Sometimes you need them to make mistakes to have a chance of winning.
I personally think that the difficulty of Crash Bash is also very inconsistent. For example, I find Beachball easier than Crashball, despite Beachball being the second ball minigame. Then when I played the trophy challenge of Splash Dash, it took me about three tries to win, but when I played the crystal challenge, I won on the first try! Like I said, the difficulty of this game varies a lot, unlike the first four games where the difficulty spike felt more natural.
This game brings back so many memories! The pinball/crashball levels were always super fun to play, especially with the AI being so dumb at the beginning, letting all those balls go past them 😂Ngl though, I actually found the monkey quite funny, mainly because of how pointless and random he was haha. They could've probably swapped him for N Tropy or Pinstripe instead though 🤷♂ Also, love the channel! Been following it for a while, but my first time commenting :) Just wondering, would you ever consider re-uploading your twitch streams onto UA-cam?
Yeah they really just can’t be bothered in the first round 😂 compared to crystal challenges and relics where they become impossible to score against. The fact you brought: why did brio come back to working with Cortex, after Crash 2, when he worked against him, also reminded me that he is a boss in Crash 4 working with Cortex IIRC
