I am so excited to see more of Willshaper. I honestly don't see us pop up often but I'm thrilled when we do. Between the radical self expression and realmic evasion it feels so right. Thank yall so much.
Ross!!!!! Again, thank you so much for getting Jeff and myself(Seth) into the Combat demo at GenCon! You did a phenomenal job and left such an impression that we continue to talk about it with others and have already run the Bridge 9 adventure for a group of fellow podcasters! Thanks to you, Johhny, Ruvaid, and the whole Brotherwise team for your infectious excitement about the game! Thanks for sneak peaks!
As someone who is a stoneward love the glimpse into cohesion. And as much as I want to play stormlight I know my group will do better with mistborn so awesome to see the bones of that. But as someone who has written for rpgs before and is obsessed with the Cosmere seeing a fellow fan get to go from fan to designer in the rpg is fantastic!
I'm also a Stoneward! And just like a good Stoneward I see that you are prioritizing your friends' needs for the campaign by waiting for Mistborn! Well done!
I really like the "Radical Self -Expression" Talent, but I was really looking forward to seeing a resonance between the two surges for each order. Was the reason this isn't the case for Willshapers due to spoilers, or some other reason?
A lot of what seem to be “true” resonances look to be hard to gamify. Such as Lightweavers not getting a photographic memory talent and instead we get combo surges. I’m hoping the World Guides go deeper into actual resonances and they are able to be homebrewed into a game.
When you have two investiture manifestations you'll receive the convination of the two of them and a plus, the plus is the resonance. For example the Windrunners have the reverse lashing as a convination of the cohesion and grsvitation surges and theirs resonanse is to have more squires than any order
@@osmaremanuelcossiojuarez6198 Yes I know, I'm wondering why the reverse lashing is included in the Windrunner skill tree, but there isn't a resonance surge for the Willshapers. Instead it's more of an abstract stat buff they can place on other characters.
Calling it an "abstract stat buff" is good way to put it. I think you could justify that talent being in any radiant order too by just changing the name. A windrunner calling out shots and giving a *protection* buff? sure. A stoneward inspiring troupes in battle? why not. It also follows the description of the types of buff they described as not feeling impactful in other ttrpgs.
@@gwbraiden4172Windrunner actually gets both their mixed surge ability as well as their resonance. If you check their “Take Squire” talent it’s squires equal to double their level while the other orders have squires equal to their ideal count
@RossLeiser that is part of why I love feruchemy vs other metallic arts. The fact that you can benefit from storing as well as drawing. Climbing with iron, storing brass in the summer etc.
Wait....he worked on designing all 10 (4:57) of the surge pathways? Is this a misspeak, or did the Bondsmith power have to be designed for a NPC character, or is there always another secret.
I don't think so. All 10 surges are represented through the 9 playable orders. Bondsmith would have Adhesion shared with the Windrunners and Tension shared with the Stonewards and from the looks of it the surge talent trees are identical between the shared orders.
I think that not giving every radiant path an ability that is the two surges combined is BIG miss. Lets be honest, every willshaper and any other order that gets this treatment will be straight up dissapointed. I know it is late in development but you should really reconsider this idea. Maybe do a poll or something. It is crucial that radiant paths have something that is 100% unique, the idea that different orders are able to use their surges in an unique way is very important.
Windrunners can create gravitational fields, lightweavers create living moving matter, dustbringer dust clouds that damage people... willshapers get to cheer people as an envoy?
@@mauito5 It seems to me that there are going to be unique abilities for every order; it's just that the will shaper's unique ability is not very cool. Hopefully, they will look into changing it.
@@kade702Yeah, I really hope they change it to be more in line with others... It just doesn't help with the radiant fantasy. "Philosophy" talens seems a bad idea imo because you are already exemplifiying your ideals by roleplaying. Ask a windrunner if they can acomplish their rolepaying fantasy less because they don't have a philosophy talent, and then ask a willshaper if they can acomplish their surgebinder fantasy less because they don't have a surge combo talent. I wouldn't be surprised if the answers were no and yes respectively. I don't want less popular orders get less love because they are not main character orders in the first 5 books. It is not about strength either, it's about being interesting, appealing and flavorful.
Agreed. And Brandon still has 6 books to go to explore these paths, so I feel like this may be leaving something on the table. But I haven't played, so I hate to say it seems shallow. @@mauito5
Dude is absolutely giddy in joy. Glad you are able to work doing something you are so passionate about. Very positive omen for the RPG :)
9:14 Dude, I wasn't ready for all that Venli. This artwork is insane!
Willshaper content! Yesssssss
Ross is precious, and his joy about this project is infectious. Please keep him forever.

OMG this guy is amazing. Love to see someone so passionate!
I love Ross's work for 5e, love to see him getting so much attention and love to see where this game goes
Protect this man at all costs
Yeees. I am glad to hear you speak of my order.
Nice video! I love how (it seems) every magic will play so differently. You had me with "resource managment" 😂

another awesome video from Brotherwise! Thanks Ross for your passion and knowledge in this, can’t wait to swear the ideals
Thanks for sharing and good job :)
Every about this looks amazing
So you mention charging in non-combat scenes. Is this on a metal per metal basis? Since there is a few metals where charging is helpful in combat
Absolutely! The various Feruchemy abilities will have various charge times

Not sure if intentional but Snapping and becoming Mistborn was good

Oh yes, you are correct. Confused surges with orders there for a second.
Why is the fourth ideal not connected to the third?
These are prototype layouts, so we'll work out bugs like these before release
@@RossLeiser I figured since the prerequisite bit said it was a requirement, just not the talent pathway. Thanks for the reply!
