I also had my prolactin tested and it was a bit high as well and they did the MRI to check for a tumor because the gland that creates prolactin can sometimes have a tumor on it, but the MRI revealed that I was ok, so try to breathe and think positive ;-). Keep us posted and you will be ok hun.

I started getting tested a couple of years ago, I now go for MRI's once a year! I'm sure you'll be fine, the only problem is the boringness of the scan lol! the dye is okay, it's literally like a blood test, you're defo right about how its a good thing, the day I found out what I had was depressing, yet I felt glad I finally knew what was making me ill! good luck!! Cont. from below: Just breathe and think positive, you will be ok hun :-). The contrast won't hurt and although the machine sounds really scary and is really loud, it isn't so bad. Most of the machines have this mirror so that you can see outside the machine (usually pointed at where the tech is sitting behind the glass taking the scans) so that you don't feel so claustrophobic because you do go pretty far inside and it can be a little scary. Just look at the mirror and it will calm you a bit.

Got a little worried there when i seen the title hope they find out what it is and fix it or help with some of your symptoms thanks for telling us about it know you don't have to hope you're feeling better soon.
You will be ok hun :-). I had one done where they thought I had a brain tumor and it turned out to just be chronic sinusitis ;-). If you get it with contrast then the needle is a bit annoying. The sound of the machine is quite scary and loud, but it isn't too bad once you get used to it. Have they had your Thyroid checked? Some of the symptoms you described can be a sign of an overactive thyroid.
The contrast (dye) doesn't hurt hun, you don't even feel it. There are two types of contrasts. One they use for CT scans is quite uncomfortable (I have had those a lot) and it makes you feel very warm and like you are gonna pee your pants, but the one for MRI's you don't even feel so that's good :-). You won't even feel when it gets injected into ya so no worries.

Your not alone I have Crohn's disease and I've had an MRI and you basically go into a tube and you have to stay fairly still and hold your breath when the technician tells you to. The injection I'm not sure about because I had an iv so I dont know if it would hurt. I'm 13 and I was diagnosed when I was 9 so I have been admitted into the hospital 3 times so I know alot about hospitals and test if you have any questions

A lot of people don't see their GP when they have problems, and they become a lot worse. Best to nip it in the bud! It's good you're getting it sorted. All the best, you'll be fine :o)

Dw Rach, you will be fine! I had mine when i was 11 and they thought i had tetanus but i didn't lol :) But honestly its no biggie, you just sit in a polo-like tube and it doesn't even touch you, And also, they give you a thingy to squeeze and if you do then they will imminently get you out of it. i had a mri scan, its not that bad but its basically you in a very thin tunnel lol, also its very loud so u get headphones with dated music lol and a buzzer to stop the scan. the die isnt that bad but they put one of them drips into my arm. i think thats just because i had to have like 3 scans on different days so it was probz easier. oohh and the scan is basically a big magnet so your told take out jewllery and cloths with metal like zips n buttons. i had to take my pants off so embarrassing :D

It was only slightly elevated hun. I'm not sure exactly how much (I would have to go back and look at my test results because this was a year ago), but they thought I had a pituitary tumor and it turned out I didn't ;-). Sometimes (due to other reasons) your body can have hormonal imbalances. Sometimes doctors can figure out why and like in my case sometimes they can't :-(. I have a lot of other health problems too though that may have attributed.
