Being a woman myself I can change my hoses also but the first thing I would suggest doing after pulling the washer away from the wall would be to disconnect the power plug for safety.

Good instructions on replacing the water hoses. On a side note whenever I plan on being away from my home for more than a day I always shut off the water main valve located on the side of my house. It only take a couple of seconds.

I don’t know if anybody has mentioned this yet working around water is very dangerous when your machine is plugged in you just never know unplug the washing machine before you start working on it you could dribble water on the floor but the machine might not be grounded properly you could be electrocuted

After watching your video I was able to repair and replace the hoses to my washing machine. I realized they were rubber/the cheap ones and not very sturdy. I completed the job and feel quite proud of my job. Thank you for the video instructions. It was very detailed.

Great job, excellent demonstration (from someone who, as a kid, actually won ribbons at the county fair for demonstrations!)
You make a comment below that seems to indicate you get your water from your own well. I'm on a well, out in the country and I just did this and much more, when I tried too hard to remove one of the hoses from the faucet and the valve snapped off. And hilarity ensued.
    Not really.
But my experience can maybe be someone else's gain:
If you are on a well, you can avoid floods by installing a pressure switch with a low-pressure cut-off. I'm no plumber and I've done it, but if this job you did here was a 3 degree of difficulty, I'd say installing a switch is probably a 4 or 5 (for a DIYer). It'll detect when there's a drop in water pressure (which is what will happen if there's a major leak somewhere) and shut the water off immediately. That's what happened yesterday fortunately, and even at 65psi I only lost maybe 2 quarts of water before the water was shut off automatically. A matter of a few seconds.
I learned there are screens inside the ports the hoses screw into, on the back of the washer. I used a metal pick to pry them out and they were pretty clogged (8 year old washer), so a 5 minute soak in some white vinegar and blowing out with some compressed air (reverse of the normal flow of water through it) and they were cleaned and probably speed up the wash cycle since the water can flow more freely.
Lastly, YES, get a whole house filter. The one I have cost around US$50 at a Big Box store. Installation probably a 7 or 8 since you're cutting into an existing water line. Filters are mid to upper $20s and I change ours once every month and a half or two in a three-person household.
    Rock on.

Nice video. If the plastic inlet did break you wouldn't need to replace the washing machine but you would need to put a new washing machine inlet in. They run about $10 and up but the repair would be more involved however with UA-cam there is a host of things we can now DYI.

Those braided hoses still get the same rubber core, the only thing they are better at is kink resistance and external wear.
Other then that it is wise to find data on the pressure and temperature they can handle, not all of them really endure hot water.

There is a concaved screen where the hose connects to the washer. The screen should be cleaned or replaced while replacing the hose, especially if you have well water or hard water.

My washer and dryer are in a crawlspace and I'm betting the hoses froze due to the artic blast that just ran through here. Never changed them before and they're 9 years old (original ones I bought with the machine) so watching this video to worry less about if I need to change them and this video helped.
Also: I turn the water off between uses just because it may be days before I discover a leak since they're not in the main living area.

I was told that if you turn off your water and then run a sink which is higher up than the washing machine it will not leak water when you remove the hose. this has to do with where the water is residing in your pipes and gravity. I hope this works when I go to try it and also helps someone else as well.

My washing machine is only about two years old but after I moved and reconnect the hoses, I found a slow leak. They are the original rubber hoses of the washing machine. Should I upgrade them to the kind that you use or just buy new washers? I did find one of the end quite stuck(they should be turning freely, right?). I spray white vinegar and got it unstuck. The person in the store said l only needed to change the washers.

However, they will probably be change within a year or two. The old rubber hoses that were connected to the 20 year old washing machine had blackish water in them when I changed them.
