I love that you put it in a garage for reference. You must have not put the seat up all the way though. I’m 5 feet even and when I test drove this Yukon 2 weeks ago, I had great visibility. That was one thing I worried about and nope, not a problem.

The Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade account for 50% of all large SUV sales in the US. GM makes 340,000 of them every year and exports about 80,000 to 31 countries. They’re made in GM’s plant in Arlington, Texas, which is said to be the most profitable assembly plant in the world. We estimate they generate $20 billion in revenue for GM and about $4 billion in profits. Autoline Daily.

Excellent review.I will have to disagree with you on the fuel mileage.I have a 2019 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 engine and the 10 speed transmission. My wife averages 20.5 on ours and she is not easy on the go pedal.😂It does require premium fuel. They get great fuel mileage for a suv that size. But when you buy something this big you really shouldn’t expect to get great fuel economy.I will be getting one of these in a year or two once they work out all the bugs.

You're absolutely correct. You should buy a Prius if you're thinking too much about MPG. Even sedan luxury cars don't have a magical MPG. I know some Tesla fans will attack me. I don't see Tesla as a luxury car. I just look at it as a rip off 🤪

It was a good review but I think you were exhausted in the last 3 minutes because your comments on rear view mirror or cup holder covers were more like nagging. Rear view mirror monitors are one of the best options GM has ever added to their vehicles. I have it on my truck and it's so convenient when you're driving such a huge vehicle. After less than an hour driving for the first time, you'll get use to it and you don't want to go back to traditional one anymore. If you compare this $80K SUV with a Tesla at the same price range, you'll see this beast as a bargain.

Don’t get too attached to the wireless charging…….Granted this video was older but some fairly common items that were taken for granted are now being limited or even removed due to the semiconductor shortage.
Major systems that are being temporarily removed or limited production UFN.
    1. Wirreless charging
    2. Auto stop…..YAY….they are giving a $50 credit but I would pay $50 to have it permanently removed or disabled.
    3. Active Fuel Management
    4. This is one that I am not so onboard with due to potential for increased theft rates and higher insurance premiums…….Removed or disabled the Steering column lock.
A lot of these system removals were for models AFTER June 2021.
The easy way to test garage space is to run the door down manually first.
I do like the option of the position adjustment of the rear lift gate. Yukon/Tahoe whether standard or Denali has a high profile. I like being able to raise it to 3/4”’open by power. If I need more raising I can manually lift the rest of the way. I have had a few close calls with my garage door and the lift gate of my Explorer. I have a JGC now with slightly lower profile. That is good because it doesn’t offer a position select switch for the lift gate.
Looks like it went away but I liked the fold up mirror for the upper console. Baby Cam for most owners, but for me it was the “Scout Cam”…..my shepherd mix. I had a rental 2020 Yukon and with limited cargo I folded 2nd and 3rd row down and he had about 2/3rds of the entire back area. Plenty of room to stretch, eat, turn rest. The seatbelt tether was long enough to let him stretch but still keep him restrained in his harness.
Good video and some real world conditions. Out of curiosity how many takes did it take to get the Exxon.Valdez into the Garage?
Another good feature that is unfortunately slowly going away is the separate glass and lift gate. I have not been able to find a 2021 in stock at local dealers. Which is weird because the closest dealers are about 7-10 minutes away from the Arlington assembly plant and pretty much all Yukon’s/Tahoe/Escalade are sold before even hitting the lot. Did the glass and lift gate with separate hinges stay in place for the 2021 redesign.
Push button transmission select…..still on the fence on that one. Great for now but potential failure point later. I will give credit to placing it on the instrument panel and reducing the risk of liquid spillage and shorting out…(water, coffee, drinks etc… instead of the center console. Movable center console is new but again on the fence.
Another item which I was skeptical at first but the hidden rear wiper is a good idea. Easy to keep out of the way and out of sight. Retracting into the upper portion of the lift gate can also help cut down on getting caught on car wash brushes.

I am in the market for a New Full Sized SUV. I have driven a Lexus GX and LX for many years, test drove a Toyota Land cruiser, a sibling of the Lexus LX 570, drove a BMW X7 for 7 days, test drove the Mercedes GLS 450, new Land Rover Defender, Land Rover Sport, and GMC Yukon Denali. Of those vehicles, the GMC Yukon Denali has far and away the poorest ride quality and poorest fit and finish, although the 2021 interior is improved compared to the 2020 model. The Denali, is known for durability at a cost of repairing or replacing numerous items, such as radios that die, water pumps, window motors that die, alternators, etc. The 6.2 L engine of the Denali is sweet, but thirsty. The Lexus GX, is old-old school, much in the need of a serious update throughout and a new, better engine with more power and better acceleration. The Lexus LX 570 gets horrible gas mileage with its non-Turbo V-8, does not handle as well as the smaller Lexus GX, is not great accelerating, has quirky 3rd row seats that fold sideways rather than flat, waisting cargo space, but is built like a tank and is renowned for its legendary reliability and durability, regularly clocking over 250,000 miles with little more service and maintenance other than oil changes, brakes, timing belt every 100k, and tires. Lexus Infotainment and camera views may be the worst of the lot and you will be lucky to get 10-13 mpg mixed use wth the Lexus LX 570. Let the Lexus idle in your driveway and literally watch the fuel needle drop. But the Lexus holds excellent resale value owing to its legendary reliability. The BMW X-7 drives nice, has a dizzying number of sensors and electronics, and turbo charged 6 and 8 cylinder engines that have a reputation for not lasting to the 100K mark. All those sensors and electronic controlled everything more often than not translates into big problems and cost-prohibitive maintenance and repair costs as the vehicle exceeds 60K miles or the warranty expires. The resale value of BMW vehicles traditionally drop dramatically once these vehicles are out of warranty, because owners encounter too many problems and the repair costs are just so expensive. The Land Rover Defender drives very nice and is a practical vehicle, easy for me to clean out when transporting my humongous dogs, but Land Rover reliability or lack thereof scars me. The Mercedes GLS is a nice vehicle, not up to the S moniker standards however, closer to an E class build quality, fit and finish. Acceleration is decent, not great, handling pretty good, amble cargo space, but I find the seats not all that comfortable, and the vehicle a bit narrow, tight on shoulder room, at least for me, not a body on frame which I prefer, as they tend to hold up to heaver use and towing better that the unibody vehicles. The Land Rover Defender and GMC Yukon are both rated at towing around 8200 lbs, better than the Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes. The Defender is not a body on frame either, more like a cross-over. I am leaning towards the Lexus LX-570 or Yukon because I put a lot of miles on my vehicles and dependability, reliability, practical usability are bigger issues with me than all that high tech stuff is. That being said, blind spot monitoring and back-up cameras are a must on all of these large vehicles possessing large blind-spots. The Defender and GMC Denali have the best camera views, which comes in handy when off-loading, in tight spaces, or towing.

I will have to agree on the comment of some of the pieces in the truck feeling cheap and not solid. But that's just American auto companies! Or in this case, GM, are about. They're selling crap but tell you it's gold by pricing these vehicles so high! Don't get me wrong though, I love the look of the Denali out of all the SUV's out there and plan to check out an XL version of this truck. And that's why you come prepared and haggle that price down to where it's a fair deal for both parties. People work too hard for their money to be ripped off by buying junk and having a sales person tell you it's a premium reliable product.

As a matter of chance and luck. While taking my JGC to the auto spa for a shower a 2021 Yukon XL Denali pulled up behind me at the drying, detail spot. Total luck and owner let me kind of paw around and even get a drivers seat view. I can see what Jill means about the hood view but I am a little taller. For oil quantity check just do it the way most people do with newer vehicles. Check it when the oil pressure light comes on……assuming the damage isn’t already done. The model I saw today in addition to being clean of course was dressed to the nines and loaded the same way. Cayenne Red with the Dark Brown/Ash interior. Only major item missing is the rear seat media package.
Still not a tota fan of the panoramic moonroof. I like the concept but or a severe accident (rollover) i would prefer more steel as structural support instead of more broken glass to sweep up……if it isn’t my rollover the. The punctured tire (s) I avoid…..might be my own!!
Can the 2nd Row seats be totally removed and is there a center console option for the 2nd row?
Will the Auto Stop. Have to be manually canceled each engine cycle or is there a way to permanently disable either dealer or owner?
If your fit was that tight remember Illinois, Missouri, TX WI etc…. Remember the possible from end extension of the nose profile. The front license plate can make the difference. And for towers, remember the trailer hitch extension. For a tight garage those two items can make the difference.

Great review! Especially the review about smaller drivers...I am 5'1" and my 2015 Yukon Denali is very customizable for smaller people especially with the adjustable pedals. Currently, I have a 2021 on order and was so disappointed to find out the adjustable pedals have been removed from this lineup. This car is large and will be used a lot by those moms (and dads) that are anti-minivan to haul kids and their friends to sports, activities, etc... Many of us are just not very big - like Jill! I don't understand why the seat can't lift another inch up and have the adjustable pedals so our feet aren't stretching in a ballerina pointe to drive. I mean, have you tried driving any length of time with your foot pointed and the heel can't even rest? Can you say charley-horse?? It's exhausting and quite frankly, dangerous. Just a little more tweaking to the adjustability for smaller drivers would go a long way! Since I haven't yet picked up my new 2021, I am going to look at other SUV's to see which is in fact the most comfortable for a small person.I mean, if I can't even see over the dashboard, how safe is that?? Has anyone tried the 2021 Merceds GLS 450? I am wondering if that is more adjustable for small people vs. the Yukon Denali.

That was a fantastic review. I love how thorough you were. I suggest researching the proper driving position. You should have been higher and farther from the wheel, pedals adjusted to come out to you instead of you to them, hands at 8 and 4 instead of 10 and 2. Visibility is certainly an issue with these giant vehicles so it would be great to do a video of how to properly set up a seat based on safety instead of 'what I've always done,' sort of mentality. This would be especially important for other petite drivers that feel the perfect driving position doesn't exist. Keep up the great work.

Totally agree about the dashboard height of the Yukon Denali being too high, especially when compared to the Escalade, Tahoe & other Yukon, models. Horrible design!

It's a good redesign of the Ford Expedition.

No offence, but You do realize that lot of the cons you mentioned here are due to how tall you are (which by the way now that I think makes it a more realistic review as it will be driven by a lot of soccer moms)

Agree. I'm 6'5" and it fits me perfect. Midsize and CUV's are not comfortable at all for me. And they only get 5mpg better. I'll take this roomy monster every time. Waiting for the duramax, no cost option and 8 mpg better.

they are garbage, how much will this cost? 100k? I paid 80k for my 2016 and at 50 miles the transmission will fail, see the other videos related to the power converter !! The same thing happens to everyone and they are spending thousands of dollars to fix the problem, and GMC has not fixed the problem since 2015 !!!

Waste of money features, in five years after warranty expires it will be worthless and not working. Just like gm v4 mode engine vibration.

@@ALMX5DP, garbage is always on the road, people keep putting money into those problematic vehicles. That's a reason why gm keeps redesigning, can't seem to get it right first time. I forgot about gm electric problems.

repairvehicle well I guess they must be pretty well off to continue pouring money into such a vehicle. More likely is that it’s not as bad as you make it out to sound.

    • @repairvehicle

@@ALMX5DP, not as bad is open to interpretation. For some people being in debt and leaving paycheck to paycheck is not bad lifestyle, for others is not an option.

repairvehicle sure, but if there’s vehicles on the road, the “not an option” argument kinda falls flat.

Sorry but when you are short I’m sure you have enough sense not to buy a vehicle this big if it’s hard for you too drive as there are plenty of shorter SUV’s that would be more suitable for your size or for any person of your stature......not a slam to anyone who is petite....just be sensible about it.....
