  • The founding chairperson of the African Bank - 87 year old Mr Sam Motsuenyane tells a tear jerking story of how he went around for 10 years with his Nafcoc colleagues to raise the initial R 1m to register the African Bank in 1975. It is a horrendous story of going door to door to any black people with any savings and economic muscle to poor into the bank and how when it was finally registered how it was "a testament of hope". He is revered - a la - Ackerman in the black community even beyond the business community...owl.li/AB0og

Very odd how this video has such few views. Most black people don't know the African Bank story. Many have never even heard of Dr Sam Motsuenyane.

I am also surprised that this video has such views and I wont lie, I knew African Bank for a long time, but I didnt know that black people founded this bank, its my first time hearing this. I've just watched an interview by Tim Modise on how they found the bank.

This is shockingly similar to the sam molope story, which also fell by having a malicious element infiltrate their management and his business also started in apartheid but dismantled in 90s
