- Many viewers had asked for this in the past, so here it is: A LED light test (night driving) with a 2015/2016 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake featuring the all-new MULTIBEAM LED headlights that not only have a stunning look from the outside but also enable "high-beam" driving most of the time. It's probably best to watch the clip in fullscreen mode to really see the different LED-sections working...on an iPhone its a bit small to see the results;) Please tell me if you want to see more of this...or not :) Have a restful Sunday.

That lighting is incredible!
Used to drive a 2015 shooting brake this was one of my favourite features, the only time I found it got confused was by occasional very reflective white road signs where it would think that the road sign was an on coming car but other wise better than systems I’ve tried by Range Rover and Audi by miles!

In the US and Canada, Mercedes had to remove this amazing feature due to regulations. However, many people are getting it coded in now.

how did you turn off the lights completely? i thought newer Mercedes Benzes only have auto, on and parking light option?
That's interesting, the technology these days is getting so far advanced. I'd be scared to try and fix one of these new Merc's though if it was to ever break.
Max Boulton Doesn't surprise me, it's the only drawback to the new tech.

Is this feature included with all 2016 Mercedes CLS ?
Ich könnte mir die Nachtfahrt mit dem schönen blubbern bestimmt ne Stunde angucken :-) Wir haben nur das normale Xeon in der A-Klasse von 2015, aber auf einen CLS wird schon gespart, vor allem wegen dem Multibeam :-)
Wie ist das denn eigentlich? Wenn man das Fernlicht auf Automatik lässt, dann blendet es ja entgegenkommende Fahrzeuge und so weiter aus. Wie ist es denn wenn man es mit dem Schalter an der linken Seite einfach nur einschaltet? Funktionieren die Features dann auch oder strahlt es einfach 100% egal was an Gegenverkehr da ist? Ist es also nur im Automatikmodus adaptiv oder ist das Fernlicht immer adaptiv wenn es eingeschaltet ist?

Not sure if this are the same thing as intelligent lights on S205, but it seems to work well in general. Only time you need to pay extra attention or even disable the high beams is over the hills (basically when there is large elevation between you and oncoming traffic) as it in this case isn't quick enough
+shortbutsoft I have a W205. Isn't high-beam auto-enabled as that is what I thought it would work (from how they advertised it)? Or does it work only when you turn on high-beam and then will look for other cars?
+aoalr As I was explained by my dealer upon collecting the car auto high-beam is only enabled when the "stick" on the left is pushed into forward position. From that point car will take care of high-beam automatically. However if you for whatever reason want to disengage it, you can pull it back towards you. You will still have the intelligent lights activated, just not the high-beam part of it.
+shortbutsoft great! Thanks a lot for the clarification. Was never very sure how it worked fully because most of the roads we have here in the UAE are well-lit, so you'll almost never need high-beam. Again, thank you! Will try to use it next time I have the opportunity to do so

Welches Licht bevorzugst du? Audi Matrix oder Mercedes MultiBeam?
Das war bei uns n Knappes Rennen zwischen dem neuen A4 und der C-Klasse mit ILS welches zum Schluss doch der A4 gewonnen hat.

+TheAudichiller Ich glaube viel tun sich die Lichtsystem der obersten Klasse heute nicht. Jedes System hat seine Vorzüge...der Mercedes leuchtet gefühlt etwas heller, der Audi regelt feinfühliger. Wir bekomme demnächst einen TT mit Matrix LED...da werd ich das nochmal ausprobieren.

Nice video! Those LED lights turn night into day. Do they work good as well when there's fog and when it's snowing?
+Goran Stepanovic They work amazingly. Actually we had a foggy night during our test and it was awesome to see the LEDs regulate to get best sight.

Was mich interessieren würde - ist es das zurzeit beste Lichtsystem auf dem Markt? Sind die Matrix-LED "besser"? Was sagen Sie dazu?
+Ak De Ja, sieht wirklich klasse aus wenn die im Rückspiegel auftauchen. Schwer zu sagen, ob es das beste ist, da müssten man die Fahrzeuge wahrscheinlich im direkten Vergleich fahren. Vom Gefühl her ist Audi mit dem Matrix LED noch einen Tuck vorne weil hier noch granularer an- und abgeschaltet werden kann...so mein subjektiver Eindruck. Allerdings kommt mir das Multibeam LED von Mercedes heller vor und arbeitet in der Praxis wirklich extrem gut...kein Vergleich zu meinem Audi S3 mit LED und Fernlicht-Assistent.
+Automann-TV Mich würde ja mal interessieren, wie die Matrix - Variante des neues Astras arbeitet und ob diese mit den Oberklasse - Fahrzeugen mithalten kann. Gerade Opel hat ja in der Vergangenheit bewiesen, dass sie Lichttechnik (AFL+) können. Der Vorteil bei Matrix - LED´s ist einfach, dass diese nicht mechanisch arbeiten, wie es bei den Multi Beams von Mercedes der Fall ist. Eine potentielle Reperaturquelle weniger. Das ständige Ausschalten oder Dimmen der einzelnen LED´s macht diesen gar nichts aus.

Hello there, may i know how did u manage to turn off the headlights completely @1:16 ? In most modern Mercedes Benz' you can't turn them off completely
daytime, then change DRL to off and light switch in middle (auto mode)
How do you get the cars? I'm thinking of the possibility of making these types of videos in spanish but I have no idea of how to start. Do you talk to the dealer? Or is it the brand directly? I understand if you dont want to give me an answer, i know it is too personal
Dealerships might offer some cars nowadays as they also want get popular in social media. But you can also contact the brands directly. Of course they wann see some examples of your work first and you have to have a certain reach.

What is the diference from MULTIBEAM LED for the ILS on the new C class?

+Bruno Assuncao The ILS system has two main / large LEDs that are moveable and adaptive. The MULTIBEAM system has, I don't know like, 35 smaller LEDs per side that are working similar to a Matrix LED. They are static and can be turned on and off in a stunning way, the new E-Class will get an even more sophisticated system.

+Авто Покатушки Yes, it works very well. In my Audi with LED and light assist people are flashing me very often as they seem to be blinded. In this one nothing like that happened yet...you can even use it on the Autobahn quite often.
