- This is such a beautiful track and was used many times throughout the third and fourth series. The most notable uses are from Gridlock and The Family of Blood. I'm surprised it never saw an official release.
I can't believe this wasn't released, it's the most memorable soundtrack in the whole RTD1 era for me
I always get misty eyed when I see the Doctor and Martha at the Remembrance Day ceremony 😢
Yeah me too. I have a feeling that they visited him on the moment he dies which is why I get misty eyed.
@@rtaylor7384In the book he sees the doctor, and reminisces about how time makes everyone a story to his great granddaughter and then gently passes away which is beautiful
I love gridlock. The part where he jumps from car to car is great. When i was a young child. 2 or 3 years old i remember jumping from bunk to bunk in our spare bedroom with my toy sonic pretending to be the doctor in that scene. Good times
This played in my head when I heard Murray was back.
I always wished they'd released this properly, one of my favourites from series 3 😊
I miss RTD and Murray gold, gridlock is a random side episode that essentially doesn’t really mean very much in the long run and yet the scene of everyone seeing the sun for the first time in decades is beautiful. You just don’t get stuff like this anymore. A lot of the realism and heart got left way behind with Moffat and chibnall to the point where they only really bothered trying to make emotional moments happen in a finale
Gridlock is one of my favorite episodes. Nobody can write people and humanity like Russell can.
@@Jackardy his world is just so real. I loved moffats fairy tale world for series 5 and 6 but then from series 7 onwards it spiralled into parody and nobody spoke like real humans anymore. And it hasn’t ever really picked up
I miss the realistic grounded realism of RTD.
Boy, do I have news for you!
Watched this yesterday on a rewatch. When the roof opened and the Doctor saved them all, I cried. They know how to invoke the most beautiful emotions, and that's why I love this show
you’re not gonna believe this….
I can't quite find the words to describe the nostalgia.
I badly wish this returns in the 60th specials.
I'm so excited murray gold is returning to score the music for doctor who! Best news ever! 🎉😊
@@hollymatton474 the entire return of producer, cast, and music composer makes this song play for me.
0:55 oh i'mma cry
this piece of music always gave me chills and a smile because it makes me so happy because even if bad stuff is happening in my real life this music track always gives me hope . that the good in life will always be waiting at the end of a dark tunnel . basically the soundtrack is the definition of hope and peace
🙏🏼🙏🏼
I’m so glad I discovered this channel. So many songs from Doctor Who that I’ve tried to track down for so long and the closest I can get is edits with mumbled dialogue and random birds or rain added in.
(A lady vicar is reading from For The Fallen, by Laurence Binyon.)
VICAR: They have no lot in our labour of the day time.
They sleep beyond England's foam.
They went with songs to the battle
(Latimer is sitting in a wheelchair, an old soldier with his medals and the watch.)
VICAR: They were young, straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted.
(He looks across the grass to where Martha is pinning a poppy to the Doctor's lapel.)
VICAR: They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
As far as I'm concerned, this is ten's actual theme. The one they usually call his "theme" is just 9's pitched up a bit. But this is a piece of music wholly unique to ten, that encapsulates his heroism and tragedy much better, imo.
assuming you're talking about the doctor's theme from series 4, it does contain a second "movement" at around the 1 minute mark, which is uniquely ten. imo the reuse of nine's theme works, if you compare it to ten being a direct result of nine trying to heal from his trauma.
I think of this theme as being ten's second theme, the same way twelve had "the shepherd's boy" and eleven had the long song.
Yeah, they *expand* on nine's theme, but it's still based on the original motif that Murray Gold wrote for nine. This music, though, which shows up basically anytime the doctor is doing something heroic or dramatic, actually feels like his. I'm all for reusing music from earlier in the series where appropriate- it helps give a sense of continuity to a character who's supposed to be the same person wearing different faces- but calling a reskin of nine's theme ten's theme doesn't sit right.
@@rsparks1104 I mean, I wouldn't call the bit I'm talking about a reskin. It is an extension, and it worked in the 2000s (probably because Gold wasn't thinking about musical continuity 5 seasons ahead).
That said, I think both themes are equally important to ten's character. tbh I'm a bit annoyed that we've only heard nine's part of the doctor's theme in the 60th specials so far, but it was great hearing the doctor forever
Completely awesome
i hope they use this during regeneration for the 14th, i think it'd be a shame if we dont hear it.
We were really blessed with some iconic tracks in the early series, shame they went unreleased.
I'm not crying, you're crying
May the Force be with The Doctor !
🙂
Oh it's so clean and nice, Doctor Forever is my favourite!
Is there any chance you could give me a better download than just ripping it of youtube?
Thank you so much regardless.
Would there be any way to isolate the music used in this Minisode Born Again? ua-cam.com/video/uKoSbpSdx1U/v-deo.html
It starts at 6:18 and continues to the end I've always loved it but it was the only Episode it appeared in I believe.
From what I understand that's not actually Murray Gold music at all. That's the DVD version of Born Again which was the rough cut with a temp score. It was released by mistake. ua-cam.com/video/QE0BdYB7ziI/v-deo.html This is the final TV version of Born Again which contains Murray Gold's score.
@@Jackardy oh wow interesting! I had no clue about this, thank you for the Information on that though!
@@Jackardy i wondered why the DVD release of Born Again just sounded off audio wise despite it coming out after the TV version
