No The process of adjusting the preload of the headset bearings is vague and although you flag up on screen you just need to remove the play from the bearings, there is no demonstration of how to check for play. The presenter just adds more tension to the top cap bolt as if this should be done with every bike built from a box. Using the ball end of an Allen key to loosen torqued up bolts will result in them becoming rounded. The same can be said for torquing them up. This was first picked up on when watching the demonstration of the headset adjustment procedure when the presenter loosens the stem bolts. More worryingly though the use of ball end of the Allen key to tighten the crank arm preload cap that is wrongly described as nice and tight. When the Allen key is removed you can see he has started to round the cap on a brand new bike! How to set up gears? Just watch another click bait video where we talk you through cable tension and limit screws without a mention that the hanger needs to be aligned to the frame before any of these tasks are performed. Brake setup hard to fault you on with the presumption rotors are true and brake mounts do not need to be faced. It' would be nice if you had mentioned to check all bolts are adequately torqued, tyres are inflated and to use anti seize on the seat post as well as wheel axles (even though you use grease). Lastly you forgot to tell us how to true the wheels, even out the spoke tension of those questionable factory builds and set the handlebar roll with an even gap on the stem face plate (where applicable of course). Did you find these tips helpful?
Got my bike on the 21st June, put it together on the 22nd June. Riding it to work, sick and tired of buses being late. I am into fitness so it will be a pleasure. Thank you for the tutorial, very much appreciated. 👍🏿👍🏿
i've done that before too, however my preference is to take the bike out of the box, shred the box, and then come home and look at the pile of bike parts on the floor. I guess we just all do things differently
That Stoic is such a bargain! About time the channel rode more budget version bikes because let’s face it, that is what the majority of their audience can afford!
You guys should do a bike build video tutorial from bare frame up

Before watching this video , i have already assembled my giant brand bike and rode it. İt's an amazing feeling getting back into cycling after 2 years. İ thought that I could do without cycling but I need the breather from time to time.
5:08 : Be careful, there is a plastic tool to tighten the preload plastic bolt into the crank. We can clearly see you rounded the bolt head of with that allen wrench :-/ !
@@karlcorrz This crankset actually comes with its own brand-designed tool, you can't use any parktool thing on it, but it's in the box shipped with the bike ! :)
At least now you know how to assemble your Canyon. I didn't, and screwed my derailleur up and had to buy a replacement. The manual in the box and the assemble videos on Canyon website suck big time I must say.
You just took my favorite tires off this bike. Please send them over to me in Oregon USA!!! But I understand about sponsorship - Vittoria pays you to promote them. :)
One thing I like to do on a new bike is brake levers bleed. This is not a full bleed and it's very quick. It's just to let air out of the levers reservoir if there is any from the assembly. I found that there is frequently a small amount. Not enough to be a major hindrance, but definitely enough for the brakes to feel a bit spongy. Takes only 5 minutes, put the cup with some oil on the brake lever, compress and release the lever a few times, watching for bubbles coming out. Repeat until no more bubbles come out. Done :D
Just taken delivery of a Spesh Epic HT, I've noticed if I give it the decent beans in it's highest gear, it can give a 'crunch' noise, is this just wrong gear selection?
The proper way to tighten the crank bolts is the same way you do it on the stem! Not the other way round. :) It makes no sense to tighten the bolts and after that try to adjust it.
That's cool and everything but what would be even cooler is if they could get bikes in stock for regular people to buy. It's been over a year now that everything has been messed up.
They come with all the tools you need, dynamo metric tool with different heads, even the grease, suspension pump, instructions. Still I brought it to my local shop so the could check it.
#Askgmbntech I'm trying to remove my original SR suntour forks from my budget Scott Bike (aspect 750 2018). I remove the topcap and the stem. but the forks are still firm in the headtube. Even with a rubber mallet, I cannot get the steerer tube out of the frame. Is there an aditional thing i'm missing? Thanks.
Lift off headset. You might need to wiggle it forward and back. Also headset could be trusted to fork. Should come apart with a bit of wiggle. You did loosen the stems bolts too.
@@derman3658 Thanks:). I removed the stem completely, the handlebars and stem we're hanging on the side of the bike. I removed the topcap and bolt so I was able to See the star fangled nut. I'll have to ask a mechanic to look at it.

Great bike , rides smooth ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing
I don't understand this video. Rich never got hit by the box. Didn't change the grips. He used proper tools (for the most part). No banging in stuff, cutting down forks and running them in the curb. Didn't hit a passing bystander from California with a part that got away. And lastly, he wasted so much time when he could have just "magic-ed" the whole bike together. 😉
Good idea but this requires a little bit more comprehensive video. There are gaps that are going to cause mistakes and confusion and... a trip to the bike shop
Hi Liggy, great to hear you are back with us! For bikes, we are sponsored by both Canyon And Nukeproof. You can find a full list of our partners in the video description 🙂
Would be very useful if someone at UPS hadn't of stolen my Torque AL 8 before it even arrived, or they'd give me my money back so I can get a replacement :(
I was to receive two packages from Canyon through UPS. Both packages were loaded in the same van in the morning as per the tracking info. The first package with accessories was delivered on time. The second package with the bike itself came one day later in a resealed box. Probably were thinking the whole night what to do with it and finally decided to deliver it to me the next morning. The most stupid thing ever, to write on the box that it's a bicycle. The box should be blank and only contain the receiver's address and name.
Did you find these tips helpful?
Yep :)
Yes, especially when Rich is on my dream bike!
Yes 👍
Absolutely, thank you!

Imagine how many parts these guys have collected over the years from swapping out parts with sponsor parts
Personally I like to take the bike out of the box and shred the bike before I have built it

can you make a detailed video on " How to assemble 2022 Pivot firebird air" with all the specific materials needed to assemble the bike
You do exactly the same as in this video, using the same lubricants and greases, but you do it wth a 2022 Pivot Firebird Air 😉
Never clicked this fast on a video🔥
What's the size of the frame? Is that M size?
How tall you are and how big is the frame?
I just noticed, does the UK not require sold bikes to have a 'dork disk'? I have to say it is way cooler to pull it out of the box without one.
8:39 what up with those jeans
What's the proper air setting/pressure in the fork? Not referenced in the manual. Thanks!
Is it ok if i use copper paste in the thru axle and in the saddle post?
Awesome 😎😎😎
whats the carbon paste used on or is that the same as grease ?
Tnx🔥
So how did the brakes get on the handlebar?
Great value bike, but defo needs a dropper
Why didn't you use full suspension model for this ride mate??
how tall are you and what size did you get?
Is it easy to configure the front brakes to be on the right side?
Does the bike come with grease?
Been trying to buy one of these from Canyon's site for the past month. None available here still it seems. Feeling a little jealous.
What size is that frame?
I want to know too. Don't believe in Canyon PPS. But looks like a M size.
