An excellent video! But what I love about this channel is that it deals with episodes of which I did not know the existence, perhaps of minor media relevance but still worthy of being remembered. Absoluteky a great job!
I had a vague recollection of this event but didn't know any of the details surrounding the bombing or the emergency landing. It actually is a little reassuring to know that it took 20 people to pull this off (because in most areas of the world there aren't 20 people willing to do something so awful). Also, knowing that the pilots were able to land and get everyone to safety is good. I love this channel!

Eng. Khaled Ahmed perhaps because human life in Mogadishu isn’t valued as much as it should be. While these counties have it tough the corruption is so high that no matter what aid goes in a lot of it disappears into off shore accounts. As for boarding a jet there I haven’t heard of major issues for sometime so perhaps security has improved, yet it’s still chilling that blowing up an aircraft is ok. There is a big problem when you have huge numbers of people brainwashed by tribalism and stuck in a time zone long past. I think you’ll get my drift.

Of course, I was immediately suspicious of the guy that gets out of the little bus at 2:47 and heads for the rear entrance of the plane. Something about the way he walks. He just gave the vibe of being up to no good.

I'm so glad I found this Flight Channel, and I'm sure because of these crashes and mistakes, and a multitude of other investigated issues that flying is currently safer than ever, but thanks to your great channel I will never fly again.

you should still be angry with a delay, no one should expect this to happen. If it exploded due to the reason being opposite, say that a delay caused an explosion, you wouldnt have said that

With flying being as safe as it is, I am content to arrive on the same day I am scheduled to arrive and if I'm comped a nice hotel room for a morning flight, I can even appreciate the rest.
I saw a woman yelling at an airline employee that she was "starving." The employee was serving sandwiches and beverages to delayed passengers. I had the perfect remark ready but I was too far away to tell her (she was that loud), "Lady, you are not even malnourished." My intent was to support the employee; the woman would probably be insulted but "shut up" would have been equally insulting and equally justified.
Better late than dead.

I can. I had a layover in Abadijan, Ivory Coast... however. Nairobi & Mombasa, Kenya and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia have airports very comparable to US airports in terms of security and amenities.

The delay of 5 minutes saved us. We didn't still reach 35.000 ft's as we would reach if we didn't have delay. Luckily the bomb exploded on the lower level of 11.000 ft's and saved all the flight crew and passengers. There wasn't yet difference in the pressurisation in the cabin and from the outside (on 11.000 ft's).

Its perhaps not relevant here. No heroic feat of piloting required to turn the aircraft around and land it.

@@eleanormassaro5195 Yes. It wasn't possible to assess the extent of the bomb damage while flying. The cockpit crew would have had to be careful not to overstress the airframe. They needed to fly no harder than necessary and land as gently as they were able.

Imagine being on a plane when it diverts to Somalia, a lawless land of opportunists. What a nightmare.
This flight was actually bringing deportees passengers from Saudi Arabia via Djibouti and back to Somalia. It was diverted back to Somalia because we couldn't fly until Djibouti on the high level with the whole on the body of the aircraft, next to the left engine.

Turkish Airlines flies there but has only 1 hour ground time. It’s a tag from Djibouti.

most likely Mogadishu might not have great security, however, this video points out that TSA is nothing more than smoke and mirrors and if a terrorist incident involving airliners should occur in the U.S. it will be perpetrated by people employed by an airline or an airport, not a passenger.
True, and that the US government tends to do quite a lot of false-flag operations.. 9/11 was one of them, I know nearly every government has likely done a false-flag (mine included) if I sounded like I hate America which I don't.
Why aren't the pilot and first officer considered heroes the way Sully and Skiles are in America? They saved 80 lives by landing the plane safely. They didn't even mention their names. Those prisons are horrible, I'm glad I don't have to be in one. Ours are country clubs compared to theirs.
Well, your right, they should be heavily praised, however the Sulley landing remains as the only successful water landing in commercial passenger aviation history. Others have done it before, but with deaths (like Ethiopia Air hijacking, 2/3rds passengers died inc. all hijackers, thats the one that was recorded as it crashed into the waves off a beach, and Garuda Indonesia Flight 421 in 2002, who came the closest at only 1 death). Also, the Hudson rivers many cameras helped the hype around that story, plus Sulley is an American.

I mean yes, pilot error was a contributing factor but still it's noteworthy and too bad everyone talks about US Air 1549 but not about it...
@@minttt_ early 2009 if I'm right, you're more than 8 years apart. And the TU124 in question had to avoid some bridges too: Bolsheoktinsky and Alexander Nevsky bridges

"We have a pressurisation problem", you bet they did. Pilot should have declared an emergency.
Those involved in any way should have got life, but maybe some did not really know what was happening and just got bribed to turn a blind eye.

Security in some airlines like this one is so poor. I don't know how people trust to fly on one of these airlines. But then, in some places people may not have that many choices. Very scary to think that some of the airport workers could actually be involved in this kind of heinous act

Every time I see one of these videos, my heart aches for the pilots. They just never know who's getting on behind them or what has been done intentionally or unintentionally to their plane by someone on the ground. In as much as passengers lives are in the hands if their pilots, the same is true in reverse. Pilots lives depend on noone boarding with intent to harm the airplane. Pilots in general have a bad reputation as chasing stewardesses, but my heart goes out to them every time they board a plane & I have the utmost respect for them. In this case..a perfect landing & outcome. It could have been so much worse. ✈✈
Nina Dickson thank you for your comment. Worth reading. For the sake of conversation, the safety and well-being of flight crew and passengers is in the hands of airport security who, clearly, did not do their job and were dealt with accordingly.

And again, the airport security you mentioned failed here miserably too..given what the perp took on board. ( and this was one of their OWN!!) This is why pilots have my uttmost respect..the stuff they have to deal with every single day & peoples behaviour getting worse by the day..on top of all that, they cant even trust each other..( fed ex flight 705; Germanwings flight 9525 ..& yes, pilots can chase me anytime..(😁) cheers from 🇨🇦

How fortunate for all of the other passengers who survived. Four to six months prison time doesn't seem heavy enough. Hope they have made changes in their security and hiring practices.

Seems the bombing has a dark background as the actual target is Turkish Airlines. Thank god many incidences as TK flight cancellation and delay off the take-off stole the effect of bombing complete. Congrats to the pilots who did a very good job and saving nearly everybody.

Wow, I will never be impatient anymore, when our flight is being delayed..I only know the designs of Boeing, and I can´t help wondering, if a Boeing still would have crashed under the circumstances...I don´t know exactly the difference in design between Airbus and Boeing, but that is definitely very impressive for an airplane to survive with such little damage after a bomb attack!

Since we have a shutdown of our government thanks to Nancy Pelosi, queen of the swamp, we need to protect our country from the southern invaders, perhaps we need 30,000 soldiers with orders to fire non-lethal ammo at the invaders. I don't believe in open borders at all.
I've flown on Daallo airlines out of Djibouti, nerve racking to say the least. I always flew on their 737's though to Dubai.
