Thanks NSC, love your vids as always.... Wondering if you can do a drive tutorial how to diagnose the difference between a drive with a dead laser and a drive where the laser is fine, but the disk doesn't read because of a worn out drive motor.... I got a bunch of dead xbox 360's with working lasers but wobbly drive spindles, so they don't read... These consoles be getting old... Nearly retro now lol....
Great blu ray device tutorial!! NSC when I take off the Fat PS3 heat spreaders (they are delidded) do I need to do anything special with opening the board again after doing my delidd? LOL I did not use any glue when I put the IHS back. :P I want to open it again and apply MX4 with a new clamp to get more pressure applied.
Hehe Thank you very much :) No, after delid you can just use it, but without Glue xD If you have a CFW then set the fan a bit faster for better temperatures, and take care that you not use to much pressure ^^
Thank you NSC for all you do. I am still not sure about d lidding my PS3 fat. Some things not covered on the process. Any recommendations of some of your vids to watch?

I need your help I have a back wards compatible PS3 it reads PS3 games and Blu-ray discs just fine and also PS1 but when I insert a PS2 game or a dvd it doesn't read it I have cleaned lense with a cleaner still no luck what should I do
Have you ever managed to repair a slim bd drive that refuse to read some discs? This problem is well known in this model, games like Call of Duty or Fifa will be read, but games like Uncharted 3 or The last of us won't be read, and in order to make it read those games, you need to boot the console, put a game that works, remove it, and then put the game that doesn't work, but this is not a fix. It seems that the drive has some vibration when reading these games, but if you put some Fifa, it reads it just fine. I think the problem in in that circle plastic that has a magnet. When you put a new disc, it changes of position, always.
So my ps3 fat that I just got is not reading game discs so is this because of the laser ? Everything else seems to work fine no loud noises it didn’t seem to overheat or anything so i have no choice but to open it.
Do you have a recommendation for a good laser replacement? I ordered one off amazon sold by nextec and that thing did not work. I need a KES-400A/ KEM-400AAA laser. Know of a good vendor to purchase from?
@@imranakhtarsyed798 No, I was not aware this was something that needed to be done. I've seen tutorial videos suggesting this approach for a PS2 laser, but is this necessary on a PS3 laser replacement? I'm not finding anything online mentioning this.
@@JohnRussell9 I saw this info by an ebay seller long time ago. You can clearly see the joint on the laser itself that needs to be removed. You can compare your original laser with the one purchased. It's on a screw on the top left, like a tiny bead.
NSC Modz no problem! I had to clean the laser of my second PS3 60GB as it stopped reading discs! Turns out the laser was dusty and there was a piece of paper stuck inside! Worked fine back then :D
2 yrs ago, but it's probably an issue w the disc feeder mechanism (idk the proper term for it). I just found out you can hold the eject button with the PS3 powered on and with no disc in the drive, and it will do a short disc feeder cleaning. Not sure how well it works, but pretty cool feature. If anything, you should be able to disassemble the disc drive, locate the drive feeder part (most likely rubber wheels or cylinders) and clean them with something that's safe to use on rubber. I haven't had good results with cleaning rubber with isopropyl alcohol. Makes the rubber sticky. So prob best to look into an alternative or a combination of cleaners to clean it properly. If it isn't that, then you probably have a broken or worn plastic gear somewhere that controls it.

Does anyone know what to do with a backward compatible ps3 that reads everything BUT ps2 discs??
Maybe the laser bad, the laser read CD,DVD and Bluray. If you have 2 lens, maybe one is doing trouble...
