@@kamentrainerhorn2073 They didn't have anyone speaking Japanese in the Viz Media dub because they didn't want to confuse the audience watching the show in English. Usagi does talk about Japanese culture which is as close as you are going to get with Usagi speaking Japanese in an English dub.

@@eymed2023 These kinds of scenes must be some kind of exercise in frustration for localizers, because you either change it so that it'll make sense to the dub watching crowd (since it's understandably a liberty that has to be taken to make it work) or you keep it authentic to the original (to the point of awkwardness such as fluently English speaking characters trying to speak English like it's a foreign language to them all of a sudden). I appreciate Viz's effort to keep the show as true to the original translation as possible while still adding some occasional dub flavor silliness, but it's a little mindboggling as to why they didn't even try anything with this specific episode at all. They could have had Stephanie Sheh and the others try their hand at French like Cloverway did with their voice cast or literally any other European language (Spanish, German, Italian, any of those could have worked honestly). But no, they went with "English is suddenly hard for fluent English speakers" just like that one scene in the dub of Sakura Wars: The Movie where Sakura suddenly struggled to speak English after having spoken it so well all that time. You probably know the scene I'm talking about.
In the Japanese dub, the guests and teacher spoke in English. In the original English dub, they spoke French or European. I think French, German or Italian would be the best choices for the English dub. But I think they didn't have a language picked out because it might've confused the younger fans or fans who don't understand a certain language. In that case, then a subtitle for that episode would be very useful.
You know, in some weird way, Usagi's comparison of relativity and flan makes sense. Everybody has a different recipe for the stuff according to their tastes, even though the basic concept is the same.
