While operating phoenixes you tend to not have to use the mouse/WASD all that much

The Aim-54's have an active range of ~16km; and if they're further out when mid-course guidance is broken, they will operate on inertial navigation until they pick something up. Since the missile is active, it is no longer taking any information from your radar. So this is where I would STT lock the target and prep an Aim-7 for a follow-up if the Phoenix misses.
Ahhh so this is why my aim7's sometime track even when my radar is locked onto the enemies chaff, good to know
@@Mozza1667 no, your sparrows dont have their own radar, they still track because your radar, while pointing at the chaff, is still illuminating the enemy aircraft, and the sparrow goes for the fastest target relative to it. Of course a sparrow could technically get a kill even if your radar is off but it is not because of its inertial navigation but because the enemy plane flew into its proximity fuze
@@Mozza1667 I'm assuming you're talking about aircraft with radars similar to F-4E. In that case no. The reason that happens is because the radar itself is using Pulse mode to detect/track targets while your missile is using Pulse Doppler (CW - Continuous Wave). Even if your radar is locked into chaff, if you launched the missile before your radar was chaffed, the missile will still track the target you intended. This applies vice-versa too. If you launch a Pulse missile using Doppler, then even if your radar couldn't care less about chaff, the missile will go for the first pop.
Su-30 and Su-34 have a radar in the tail looking backwards

One trick you can do with tws is changing the scan area to be smaller. This means the radar will ping the target more often giving you a better track.

at the altitudes you were flying at (5KM+) 30km is a very high chance of a kill, no need to wait for it to be closer

1:50 literally just maneuver at all and it has a hard time. with the missile physics changes, they oscillate quite a bit and are bad at changing direction
Funny that some maps aren't even big enough to give you room to avoid pansys, forcing you to the deck, yet gaijin still thinks this vehicle is balanced

-doesnt give people a radar lock warning when it locks onto players with its radar
-missiles are the fastest SAM missiles in the game and have the longest range and highest maneuverabilty at range
-Radar can track aircraft through trees and has the highest search angle and longest range in the game.

A few tips for radar :
- keybind your radar to the numpad (I personally keybinded to the numpad, then to my mouse)
- when using TWS, after locking a plane, reduce the fov of the radar so it pings the plane more often
- the AIM 54, and all futur fox 3 stop communicating with the plane radar when it’s at some range of the first thing its radar sees. The aim54 is about 16km I believe, so under 16km of your target, you can directly switch to other missiles (the aim7 for example) to ensure your kill

AIM-54s work INCREDIBLE as air defense on ground because nobody flies too low cuz scared of SAMs and if they do they have almost NEVER seen an AIM-54 and have zero clue how to dodge it or look for it
looking forward to like 2 years in the future where the panthir is like 16.3 or something & only fights planes that can take SEAD missiles

The problem isn't russian vehicles, the problem is Gaijin using russian press statements as 100% proven and dismissing actual reports and documents for everyone else. Remember how they had to buff all Hellfires when they were introducing chinese helis that also use Hellfire copies? That's the reason why they gave PRC Tor instead of their licensed Crotale. Because then they would be forced to buff all Crotales at least to their irl chinese version if not outright to second generation french and chinese modifications and those are top tier AA missiles for France, Sweden and Germany. Woopsie.

I mean, you need speed and alt if you want the best missile performance. Speed gives it more energy and alt reduces the burn time trying to get loft.
Not to mention putting yourself next to the ground puts you in danger of IRST.
