Hey, great comparison! Really interesting to see that compact frame with the .5 inch less included on! Almost makes it seem like you have the first ever 4.0C COMP! I just love how Springfield made changing and modding frames possible! And since it is technically a factory frame straight from Springfield themselves, this would be how you create the “4.0C Hybrid Comp!” And yes, I’m convinced you just created the first ever-at least frame wise with the 4.5 ported barrel! Keep up the good work! I subscribed!
Thanks, I am pretty excited to have matched the compact frame up with the comp'd full-size barrel, seems a great EDC configuration. I've been sick so I haven't been out to shoot it yet but hope to this weekend. I expect it to "shoot" the same but I'm especially interested to ensure that the shortened grip doesn't create any differences under recoil.
@@Ridikuluzt Winchester NATO 124 is my standard range/training ammo, especially with a comp'd/port'd barrel. On the other hand, S&B 115gr shoots fantastic in my original Echelon w/threaded barrel that you fleetingly see in this video near the start so I'm going to try it in this hybrid configuration and see if it works just as well. I've learned since getting the Echelon Comp that not ammo is recommended for comp/port use so I'm going to have to be a little more fickle for it, but my OG Echelon isn't fickle at all, I haven't found a round it doesn't like yet, and I've run everything through it from 50gr superfast to 150gr superslow.
@ yeah, there are quite a few people that are bothered by not all rounds are “recommended” to be used on a comped barrel. I’ve seen people within UA-cam comments say they have put hundreds/thousands of rounds with their echelon comp without issue but there is people that say they would not pick up the comped version because of this. I can understand both sides but if there is a brand and size of rounds that perform “the best” (with “enough testing”) for an echelon comp, I would likely use that as my main training/defensive round. Let me know what your thoughts and findings if you end up changing your ammo rounds to another brand. I’d like to find out how the S&B 115 grain does with the echelon comp!
@@Ridikuluzt In my case the ammo was definitely an issue -- I was having inconsistent accuracy issues that I just couldn't figure out, even when shooting from a rest. Once I did a range session using only Winchester NATO I had no issues at all. So the issue is demonstrably real, but it's also firearm dependent so you'll just have to test and know what your firearm likes... and doesn't. I switched to NATO spec a couple years ago when I had a handgun that wouldn't cycle reliably without a little heavier punch, and then I didn't want the logistics of a bunch of different ammo types so I started using NATO for all my 9s. Once I got the first Echelon I decided to try something else, cheaper, and the S&B impressed me. Their self-defense ammo seems to leave something to be considered but for FMJ range use I have nothing but good things to say about S&B, and it's nice to not have to pay the NATO premium.

@ what brand of ammo will you be using?
